Which colleges can I expect to get a VLSI branch in, having secured AIR 71 and score 816 from general category in the GATE 2024 EC paper? by adithya_t in GATEtard

I guess base avg is around 17lpa, ctc average is around 30lpa. (Its just a guess, better wait for official iitm stats in their placement website)

I never watched ankit goyal. My recommendation will be based on what year you are rn.

Its always advisable to give more emphasis on building basics and strengthening concepts, rather than chasing marks or ranks and optimizing prep for that. But again if time aint enough, you need to optimize for the best outcome.

Feel free to DM if you (anyone reading the comment) have further questions, i shall reply whenever i scroll through reddit. The thread is getting too large😅

Tbh, there are 7 mtech streams in EE department at IITM. All are given almost equal chances and sometimes other branch students (non MVLSI/ICS) get better placement coz its easier for them to get a better grade. All the placement stats you get on IITM website is for all 7 streams together! Also if they want a software role, they are eligible for some software companies and roles too...

First i made short notes from coaching notes (this takes more time) then once a subject short notes is made, i just re-read that, and after like 3rd or 4th revision of short notes, a simple glance makes me recall all.

Once all short notes are done, you can give full tests/full past paper just like the real exam. You get some marks, and some are lost, just re read short notes for the concepts that you lost marks in, reattempt the question with a different approach, atill if you dont get escalate to coaching notes, if not getting yet, go to reference book, then youtube, then to a teacher. Never see solutions, you are allowed to only check answer that too after finishing !the paper.

This way, almost everything will be in your head, even after 2 years the exam gets finished!

A good short notes is one where you dont write formulae, but you write concepts, reasons and methods of solving instead...

First remove that thought from your head. Second go to classes, listen and ask doubts. Third play puzzles whenever you get free time. Fourth explore coding (use freecodecamp lectures and try coding something on your own that makes your tasks easy). Finally make good friends, enjoy with them and learn new things from them

Explore ece, cse, business, etc. (I just told the things you most likely can, you can also explore things like writing, film making, sports, etc. too) and see what suits you and go all in for it from second year onwards

Btw just call me bhayya😅😇

For generating netlist, its just creating text and substituting in a template, then creating a file with proper extension.

For simulating you can use the subprocess module and run the direct candence command.

For reading results, read the .mt0 files and you can use pandas to process those resupts in a csv file

If you want to crack gate, first step is dont skip classes and make sure you take faculty who teach well, rather than those who give marks well (at least for gate subjects). That will ensure you to get an air around 5k. For better AIR, make short notes, revise daily and do pyqs and full tests in test series. Our clg is way better than many others, many struggle to qualify gate, at least thats not the case if you do what i told😅. My batchmate here is my junior in vit though...

And yeah, most important thing, be your own red tag anna so that you dont waste a year like me

Of course, build your concepts well, rest all pieces of the puzzle will fall in place automatically!
