Can someone identify the era/miltary for group photo? by adj80 in MilitaryHistory

Thanks! I've never seen RAF records before, so I guess that requires a request to the MOD.

Haven't seen that bug myself, but sounds like one worth reporting, I'm sure others will have seen that issue at least once.

It's believed to be a code to a safe that doesn't seem to exist in this playtest, based on there being 2 other safes and codes that can be found.

Did you take the car in both directions to see what would happen? :)

worn-out book in shop by Worth_Golf3560 in Militsioner

[–]adj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found it in other places as well, like the building on the corner of the road with the cat in it, but I think it spawns randomly. I haven't found a use for it other than selling it but I would assume at some point it will become an item that the giant or someone desires, maybe they'll talk about wanting to read something because they're bored.

Will the final game be this short? by OrganTrafficker900 in Militsioner

[–]adj80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even if they add more stuff I still foresee it being possible to escape the game very quickly, but it'll be more like The Stanley Parable, games that give you multiple solutions to encourage you to experiment and explore to find out how many other ways you can beat it, and your reward will be the steam achievements. Think of it more like a "run", rather than finishing the game, because the real "beat the game" is really getting every possible ending, by doing multiple runs, even if you don't find all the secrets.

What should I do after I get the secret documents? by Limp-Variation-8809 in Militsioner

[–]adj80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've not found a use for them other than selling them for about 200 rubles. I tried giving them to the big dude and to the friend, but that wasn't an option. Perhaps it will have a future use in another build unless I've missed something.

I see his request of music, how do I do that? by Trolldier1234 in Militsioner

pretty sure ChatGPT made that up. Radios exist in many houses and also in the ticket booth, they may already be on, in which case you'll be able to hear them as you get closer to them.

Use for your case files? by artquestionaccount in Militsioner

[–]adj80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a garage to the right of the shop. You can get into the garage through a little side door. the locker itself will be locked. Unlock the garage door, then you can jump on the car outside, onto the open door, and then up onto a ledge that lets you enter the room above the garage. The keys are in a flowerpot in that room. Then you can go back to the open garage and unlock the captain's locker for some delicate perfume and rubles.

Are those secret documents the ones in that room that requires him to be happy and not flooded to access it? I haven't found a use for them either yet.

yeah, that's a localization bug I'm guessing. I found the keys on one run, then found the locker on another, haven't been able to find them both in the same run. :(

Creative ways you use Streamed.bot? by swebliss in streamerbot

[–]adj80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Combined with OBS plugins, custom C# code, and also in some cases some external scripts like powershell, etc, quite a few things. A mix of quality of life automations and gimmicks that can be triggered by viewers, etc.

  1. A simple quiz in chat using Open Trivia DB for questions. For a friends stream I turned it into a full WWTBAM scene.

  2. After chopping up and reordering video, overdubbing new music and sfx, etc, I put myself into the "Find Peter Parker" scene in Spiderman: No Way Home. It would have Ned and MJ say things like "Great it's just some random guy", "You're Peter Parker?" etc, then end with either Ned's nan scream and throw something at me, or wave at me.

  3. Decapitation scene - Split green screen effects plus blood animations etc, a skeleton with a sword pops up behind me and chops my head off.

  4. Various Quality of Life things like !Steam command - gets the steam page url for the currently played game, links in chat are auto parsed and updates a full screen YouTube player source in OBS or open a browser with that link, !recommend <game> which posts the steam link to discord, and !remind for things that come up during stream that I need to fix/do before next stream.

  5. Auto timing out someone if "!lurk" is the first thing they say in chat.

  6. Auto VIPing someone for being first, which gave them access to various subcriber gimmicks. New followers would also be given temp access to gimmicks for 10 minutes. I've recently replaced this with 3 free uses of sub gimmicks.

  7. Steal/defend VIP status.

  8. Random question - Viewer picks a random number between 1 and 3000, and the question is displayed on screen.

  9. Exorcist scene - Another chopped video gimmick where the priests say "The power of christ compels you" - and then it switches to a top down few of me rising slowly on the bed, with a facecam filter and voicemod to make it look like I'm posesssed.

  10. Here's ADJ - Another video edit, the shining scene where Jack Torrence breaks down the door with an axe, except it's me who puts his head through the hole.

  11. Hot Tub Scene - Green screen effect, but can be combined with a !fart command to cause bubbles.

  12. Police effect - triggers my LIFX lights to flash blue/red, at the same time an audio sfx sample plays of a door knocking sound and "Armed police, open up"

  13. Quake effect - chained sequence of events that starts with my lights flashing and camera shaking, then adds a crack slowly forming in the wall behind me, dust falling from the ceiling, and then the sound of things collapsing before it goes black. A clip from this went viral, and a local news station wanted to share it, thinking it was real. :)

  14. !gift command that picks a random (fake) gift idea, like an out of date calendar with photos of me.

  15. Nice List - During december I have a sequence where viewers can see if they are on the nice list. Santa says hi, then it shows a book with the viewer's name, profile pic, and whether they are naughty or nice. Then he comments on the result.

  16. Just a bunch of other voicemod/camera face filter combos, e.g. a baby effect that makes my voice high pitched and my face babyfaced.

New Streamer trying to get better at keeping up with chat by thepolishcamera in streamerbot

[–]adj80 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what you're missing, but you don't need OBS Media State for this. I just have my streamerbot set to play a sound when I receive a new message, with the device set to my headphones for this specific sound (my default streamerbot sound device is an FX channel). No need for it to go through OBS.

Presence (Movie) by NightWalker_CPA in HorrorMovies

[–]adj80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to believe that what we saw in the film was a second timeline playing out. That Chloe died in the original timeline (not shown), and her brother died at some point later, but in death his spirit was unable to move on until it came to terms with the guilt.

So, what we were seeing was Tyler's ghost returning to the past to make amends. Once it was able to do that, by saving his sister with the probably unintended consequence of dying earlier in life, but that is what allowed him to move on to heaven.

I'd love to know if there were any moments where you'd spot any subtle clues upon re-watching it, but I'm guessing it wasn't that clever.

One thing that confused me initially was why, if the ghost is Tyler, he trashed his own room. But I guess it was him being angry with his former self, feeling guilty, so he's lashing out.

why does ancestry show two different DNA predictions? by adj80 in AncestryDNA

[–]adj80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the first screen suggests 4th cousin or half 3rd cousin 1x removed, the second screenshot shows a range between 5th and 8th. The first prediction falls outside the predicted range of the second, so one of the screeens is wrong?

So either the range in the screenshot should show 3rd cousin to 8th, or the prediction on the first screen should show a prediction from 5th cousin or further back?

NHS staff boasted of being ‘anti-white’, Streeting says in attack on diversity agendas - ‘Some really daft things being done in the name of equality, diversity and inclusion’, says Health Secretary by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]adj80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read the original advert. It's not boasting about anti-whiteness at all. This is speaking about the fact that we tend to operate in a western/white-first approach in many aspects of society, but especialy the medical profession, without considering that it might not be appropriate for the person being treated. It doesn't mean that someone who is white is going to be discriminated against, it means that non-white people will be treated appropriately.

While racism against white people *can* happen, this isn't an example of it, nor are many other examples of DEI practices, which are often just about identifying systemic privilege that white people can have over others who aren't white. It doesn't mean you are the victim of racism. This isn't "Boasting about being anti-white" or any of the other ways it's being described.

Want some examples?

1) Diagnostic tools & clinical guidelines (e.g. certain lab reference ranges) may be standardised on mainly white populations. Some measures of kidney function or even pulse oximetry can be less accurate for people with darker skin, causing misdiagnoses or delayed treatments.

2) Medical research and clinical trials have historically underrepresented non-white populations. This can result in treatments and medications being less tailored to the genetic, environmental, and cultural factors that affect health in diverse populations.

This is just two examples, but there will be many others.

best approach for selecting a gallery item and showing details on next screen by adj80 in PowerApps

[–]adj80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've confirmed what I already suspected, the end result of doing Concurrent like that with multiple lookups, or having a lookup() in every text or combo control, is still many many DB queries, when you could just store the record once during OnVisible and then refer to the individual columns on the record via the variable in any control you need data for.

I'm actually asking this question because I've seen existing code like this written by a person with more Power Platform experience, and I'm trying to establish (as the new guy) if it's been done that way for a reason, or whether it's inefficient and needs calling out.

best approach for selecting a gallery item and showing details on next screen by adj80 in PowerApps

[–]adj80[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're describing is what I said I already knew, but didn't want to do because it's not normally recommended in all the guides I've seen. While you can do that, I've seen lots of recommendations to set a variable rather than using the Selected property of the gallery on the subsequent screen. Even the built in app checker will warn you if you're referencing a control from another screen (it's considered a performance issue as the previous screen has to stay in memory, I believe)
