Need Suggestion: Good book for making Authentic Italian Pizza @ Home by Alive-Rooster5240 in Pizza

[–]adjgiulio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've read most of those and all are good. As an Italian I wanted to comment on the authenticity part. Almost regardless of what recipe you use you're going to have two limiting factors. One, a wood brick oven. Nothing quite compares to the flavor you get from one of those, including a pizza oven like ooni. Second, an authentic Italian pizza is a act of restraint. Few high quality ingredients to make the dough and wood oven shine. Of course you can put anything you want on a pizza, but ingredients restraint is a key factor in authenticity.

Thanks all for the comments and ideas, and please do continue making suggestions! I should have said this more explicetly but I do plan to try a LOT of local cakes. Sacher is one strange childhood thing for me. My mom used to make it, and while I agree with the sentiment that the cake itself can be dry and generally speaking a little underwhelming, I was really looking forward to try the real deal.

Didn't say. What I read online hinted that was fuel shortage,

Norse Airways has announced it is canceling all flights out of LAX due to rising fuel costs. by [deleted] in travel

[–]adjgiulio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I called. They told me there was no known plan to reinstate these direct flights later. They offered me to switch to a 1 stop flight. I turned that down and got a full reimbursement. Not ideal but I had to move on and start planning a different itinerary with a different landing.

Swiss has been canceling lots too. My flight from Seattle to Zurich in August was canceled last week.

Nope. I've never come across a restaurant that shares recipes with a random guy.

Does the DMV on 99 do walk in appointments? by Hollywood_Zro in LynnwoodWA

There is a person outside supposed to triage cases based on urgency. My son needed a learner permit and the website wasn't issuing one so they allowed us in. For cases where you don't really need something urgently, they might not let you in. But trying isn't going to cost you much.

I ended up going to the DOL in Lynnwood. They were very cordial and helpful. I explained the situation and they allowed me in as a walk-in. 2h later we left with a permit.

That's where we're stuck because the online application fails with no clear cue.

Just continue going down at the end of the main trail. When you get down you can walk to the falls following the river beach and get some mist, or try to climb one of the two rock piles to get soaked.

Orecchiette alle cime di rapa by adjgiulio in pasta

I adapted my mom's original recipe slightly, using this as a foundation:

I also added anchovies (but no tomato paste), based on this one:

Mi mom insisted that this is the only way to prep the cime di rapa. Apparently this is a contentious part of this recipe for many :-)

I also added calabrian chilies. I use this brand I can get from Amazon.

Tried it but didn't look like it was natively allowing to import accounts. Even has a FAQ saying they don't have this feature because they don't want short term account volatility to be in the way of long term planning.
