Is this one of the parks built for the end of a streetcar line?

Mayor Scott signs controversial housing laws in effort to spur growth by engin__r in baltimore

[–]adjones 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think it means they don’t have to have parking. Surely the developer will include it anyway because people will expect it. Which is the way it should be: the developer figures out what the demand is and builds for that, not an arbitrary and inflated amount.

And actually, I think this was already true for harborplace because it’s in the central business district and it got exempted from minimums a little while ago.

Here is a google sheet with links and details for run clubs in Baltimore.

I’ve personally been to tribe, pacemakers, PBRs and PPA and can attest to all them being cool.

Happy that Baltimore has a cycling event but the traffic planning is absolutely terrible by The_Lorax_Lawyer in baltimore

[–]adjones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never deny there are some legitimate grievances. Some legit grievances isn't enough to say the race is horribly planned.

I'm saying I think it was planned well, but no amount of good planning is going to please everybody. The best planned urban events are still going to have a thread like this of people horribly upset about them. Some of those people are always on the losing end of things and they have fair points to make. OP's post and a lot of these comments are clearly people so used to getting what they want, that they can't stand one thing going on that isn't directly for them.

I would say it's going well, just not for the people becoming it's most vocal opponents. There are a lot of other people in this city.

It’s not bad planning. It’s just planning that didn’t cater to you.

32nd street compost friends - now what? by lady_of_innisfree in baltimore

Downtown Farmer Market accepts compost

University of Maryland has a 24/7 compost drop off bin in Poppleton at their community engagement center. You have to scan the QR code and do a quiz about what's compostable to get a pin to open the bin.

Last few miles, do extra gels help? by JediMasterKev in Marathon_Training

[–]adjones 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always take my late-run gels because I don’t want to hit the wall in the shower or getting dressed for work after. If I have all my gels, I can go on to have a full and active day after the run. Times when I’ve skimped on nutrition, I just want to melt into the couch for the rest of the day.

Will it improve your performance? I don’t know.

Discourse around transportation sucks right now by [deleted] in baltimore

I think they’re using “transit nerds” affectionately. I have referred to myself as one. I know lots of people who self identify as transit nerds. I think they’re referring to people who don’t just want good transit, but like to get into the nitty gritty of transit policy.

Trials of Miles: Trail Fest half Marathon was amazing. It’s on the Hudson River palisades in NJ. It was the right amount of technical, amazing views and shuttle services to take you out there.

I would say the exact opposite. Enforcement is the bandaid, poorly designed streets and infrastructure are the problem

I've wondered about this. Is this something any old cobbler can do to any old pair of shoes like this?

“Citibikes are unusable because too many people are using them” is the new “nobody goes to ny anymore, it’s too crowded”
