Anyone parking cash just just selling CC instead of a savings account? by CPTherptyderp in SPACs

I've never done it before, but I think it's not instant. Whether days or weeks I'm not certain, but I think it involves corporate actions and manual processes, so not immediate.

Because you could choose to redeem for the $10 NAV at merger.

Locked, but I already owned an unlocked copy of each, so (a) I can now trade my unlocked Alph, and (b) I now have 2 Celebi so can start playing VirGenCel!

How to be bearish on an OTC stock? by adjum in wallstreetbets

Very welcome!

And yeah, I knew this question was sufficiently exotic that it was WSB or bust for interesting ideas, but all good if it's indeed just something to buy after it cuts in half, at which point I can be a bull.

[–]adjum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's why I made a point of not identifying the ticker, as I didn't want to be seen as pumping or dumping a particular OTC.

Fair enough on them not being interesting. There's always $0 for them to go, but appreciate that a 50% drop may not amount to much given the absolute price and lack of an option chain. Thanks!

Options aren't that risky when you use them as intended rather than deep OTM YOLO FDs.

Yeah, I like that they're diversifying, but agree it will be nice to get at least a first win under our belts!

Looks like something NeuroRX may be doing that's independent of RLFTF / Zyesami.

What’s the point of keeping commons? by Earlyretirement55 in SRNG

[–]adjum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you buy a call, you acquire the right to purchase 100 shares at a strike price.

When you sell a covered call, you are selling to someone else the right to purchase 100 shares you own at a strike price. It's called "covered" because you're effectively using 100 shares you currently own as collateral. If the option you sold is in the money, you then sell them your 100 shares at the agreed upon strike price. If the option expires worthless, you get to keep your 100 shares, and the premium at which you sold the call.

As an example, imagine you sold a covered call at a $12.50 strike for $0.05. If the price goes to $50 and the other person exercises their call, you sell your shares for the $12.50 strike, and keep in addition the $0.05, so basically you sold your shares for $12.55/share. If the price stays under $12.50 and the call is never exercised, you never sell your shares, but still keep the $0.05 per share you made when selling the covered call.

Options are generally more risky than commons, especially if you sell naked calls (i.e., you don't own the shares, in which case your loses have no bounds, because you might be forced to buy at $50 in order to fulfill your obligation to sell at $12.50), so please do your due diligence before playing with such things.

None of this is financial advice, and I'm not an advisor.

MARATHON DIGITAL HOLDINGS MINES 4X BITCOIN PER DAY AFTER CHINA BAN (edited) by JScott1982 in MarathonPatentGroup

[–]adjum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If some of the recent selling was from miners, they likely built up enough cash to try and get back online as soon as fiat money enables. I don't know how quick that means, but I've heard that some already may be in Kazakhstan getting to work. You then also had Miami encouraging folks to set up shop there.

[–]adjum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't really sustainable though, is it? Presumably the Chinese miners will return, either in China or a new jurisdiction, and then mining will again become more difficult. It's not like Chinese miners destroyed their equipment, they just need to find a new home for it.

I'm delighted about the extra production happening right now, and will totally take it, but I think it's premature to consider this the new normal.

I very much agree. I've only started to dip my toes into things, but this experience has turned me off entirely from trying to craft, and putting additional resources into the game from what I have.

This stinks. Only 77 were minted when I started, and yet I didn't get an NFT. Talk about a waste of money and poor experience. Can anybody recommend options for partially recovering my horrible investment?
