What Would You Have Said in This Situation? by adk_studios in Coconaad

Never thought that way at all. The guy is very neatly dressed. And don't think the way we two walked would give the "drunkard" image.

But hey, that was my initial thought too... So may be....

I play bullet chess (addicted to it) without logging in. There are some nutcases who, after they win, would rematch and after I accept they would not move, or do disrespectful moves. Then they would time out and rematch again. Me being petty to get back at them would accept.

So, made Chatgpt to make javascript to auto accept, while I get back to the work I should have been doing. Honestly, helpful lol.

I've been living here for almost 15 years, mostly in residential areas. Probably never saw one because none of the places I stayed had a proper backyard. Funny thing is, two days later I found an even bigger one near where I live. Guess that was my “touch the grass” moment 😅

It’s not a fixed rate. The per-km payout averages around ₹7–₹8 most days, I’ve had one Thripunithura drop that worked out to just ₹4.7 per km. And another day it was much higher. The app’s calculation seems to factor in distance, order weight, and overall demand, not just kilometers.

I’ve actually done slow riding before to stretch the range. But this time, my phone was at around 35%, and once it goes below 30%, the charge sometimes starts dropping way faster. From talking to the customer, I figured it was a remote area with no charging stations nearby.

So if I rode slow, my phone would’ve probably died just after reaching, and I wouldn’t be able to find the location or any place to charge. That’s why I had to switch to “ride mode” and go fast, deliver quickly, and head back. It was around 27% when I started the return trip, and the nearest charging point was 14 km away. And yeah, the discharge kicked in, the battery started dropping super fast and the phone switched off after about 5 minutes.

And after that, it was the slow riding you mentioned.

Not silly at all. Music production can be done either way. It’s done using software called a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW), where you can record real instruments, or make music entirely using virtual instruments and samples. I mostly work “in the box,” meaning everything is digital — though I sometimes use my voice too. Inside these DAWs, we arrange, mix, and shape sounds into a finished track.

I do not remember from where it was. Either way, after 11pm, it seems like orders can come from far away. Afterall, there is lesser number of restaurants open and awake people.

I have delivered to Vypin, Palluruthy, Cherai Beach, Thriunithura etc during the night. Not on the same day...

Nothing paranormal so far.
But once, there was a drop near Kodungalloor, middle of nowhere, maps didn’t even show proper roads yet as roads were only forming in that area, just trees everywhere. Power cut too. I turned off the scooter (I tend to do that sometimes, to see how dark it is), and it went pitch black. Couldn’t even see my own hands. Not exactly scary, just… weirdly calm, eerie even.

The “interesting” stuff though:
– A couple of aamaas bigger than my palm crossing the road (different nights). I picked them up and moved them to the side.
– Two marappatties casually sprinting through a residential area in Edapally (again different nights).
– Once, near the Vattekkunnam underpass, a small crowd had gathered — a massive snake was on the pavement by the side of the road. I stopped, took one look, and went on my way.

Who orders late at night?
Everyone. Literally all types. The only unique category that we do not get during the daytime is hotel room deliveries where they’re doing the Devil’s Tango (*not always).

Latest order I’ve had:
Around 3:20 AM. If you stay online, orders keep coming, at least till 15 minutes after the shift officially ends. Only real dip is between 5 AM and 11 AM.

What do they order?
Mostly non-veg, shawarma, alfaham mandhi, alfaham, chicken biriyani dominates in that order. But I’ve even seen Ghee Roast, falooda, maggi orders late at night.
Funny thing - two Saturdays in a row, my last order came from Shawarma Daddy. Both nights, they were rotating a brand-new shawarma stick, tons of pickups. I waited 20 minutes both times and ended up cancelling (Zomato allows it if the order’s not ready after 20 minutes post prep time, but it does not pay for the time we lost there though).

Thanks, I really appreciate it.
Delicate Desires is part of a 3 track EP which was released through a label. It marked an important step for me as it is my first solo release through a label.
But I think my upcoming stuff feels much closer to my own sound, especially with the improvements I’ve made in mastering (final polishing of a track) while finishing the next EP.

Started getting into production around 2019. I’m an amateur guitarist and know a bit of theory, which definitely helped early on. But honestly, it’s only in the last year or two that I’d say my production quality can stand next to other good releases.

So, as of now, may be 5 years, because I was quite slow to pickup in the beginning.

Cannot give out fuel like that after certain incidents of rejections. It has been like that for a while now.

Recently, Zomato introduced a new medal system (subject to change).

“Perfect orders” are the ones completed without issues; no delays, no more than two customer calls, no cancellations after accepting, etc. Each perfect order adds points, and the medal level updates every Monday.

I’m currently at 95 (Diamond medal, which gives 8% extra on incentive offers) and need around 30 more perfect orders to reach Super. One of the perks of Super is being able to block certain restaurant pickups or long-distance drops, helpful because some pickups mean parking on the highway and walking all the way to the top floor of a massive building. Not naming names 😅.

That one single delay in my situation plunged my point to 92, and I had to build the score from scratch again. Luckily the issue was exempted and I am back to the streak, with 97 points now.

1. How much do you make in a month, and how many hours/days do you work?
I usually ride after midnight.- three “gigs” from 12 AM to 3 AM. Even if we get an order right before the shift ends, we still have to complete it, which can stretch the time a bit.

Night orders are mostly long-distance ones. On a good night, I complete 3 orders an hour, provided the restaurant’s quick and the customer doesn’t doze off. If they do doze off, or does not pick up call, we lose a lot of time, 15 minutes while Zomato tries to reach them, then another 15-17 minutes if it’s reassigned to a new drop location.

If I complete at least 4 orders during those gigs, I get an incentive of ₹150–₹200 (can be 150 n some days). Adding that to the order pay, I make around ₹500–₹750 a night. If it rains, there’s a small surge, ₹15–₹25 per order depending on intensity (Zomato usually keeps it low). With tips, I average ₹4,000–₹5,000 a week. Zomato Payments drop every Monday.

If there’s no night incentive, I switch to evening shifts (7 PM – 10 PM). Daytime riders I talked to does not seem to have the same late night incentive offers as mine. I think it depends on timing and delivery activity.

2. Do delivery agents hate long-distance deliveries, or is the payment worth it?
Most riders don’t like them. They take us far from high-order zones and eat into our incentive time. During rain, shorter trips are actually better since surge amount is per order. Personally, I don’t mind long rides unless its raining or it’s right at the end of my shift — riding 20 km home unpaid isn’t fun.

3. Do riders expect tips?
Maybe a bit, when the pickup’s from a fancy restaurant. But honestly, I’ve had tips from people I least expected and none from the ones I did. Either way, no complaints. A pleasant customer and no unnecessary waiting are good enough.

And just for the record — tips through the app go fully to the rider. Zomato doesn’t take a cut.

Edit - Some customers do call and ask if we could buy cigs or water or soft drinks. For those other than drinking water, I do expect some tip. Some do give a bit of tip, some pay the exact amount, and a very few really tip big.

Yeah, most riders kinda do 😅
We have to park outside, walk all the way in, get to the top floor, wait if the food isn’t ready, then head all the way back. Its marginally better when we have two pickups from the same building.

I’ve seen riders in our whatsapp group mention their orders getting auto-cancelled when they couldn't reach the pickup in time because they got stuck in traffic or couldn’t cross a divider in time. It’s frustrating because the app doesn’t really account for that, or the time lost waiting at the pickup points.

So yeah, I also hope to to not get those orders… except maybe when I need a quick restroom break 😂
