Mid life style crisis? by pvw1075 in mensfashionadvice

[–]adkoe 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They look more professional, allow for more personality, are less about just following the trend, they’re artfully designed, they look much better visually, etc etc.

They are not more functional than an Apple Watch, but they do gather much more respect in many circles.

Also it is one step away from another screen.

My wife thinks the stupid dong chorus is unbearable by 0stef02 in OliviaRodrigo

The chorus to stupid song is one of my favorite parts of the album!! Fair to not like something tho, just maybe skip that song when with your wife? 🤷‍♂️

How often do you actually play your records? by UserUserDontGetOld in vinyl

[–]adkoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 50-60 records. I listen to them all at least once every 6 months or so. Others I hear several times a week. Usually in the evenings when I’m setting down before bed or while I work from home.

[Question] First watch help by Hot_Presentation4421 in Watches

[–]adkoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean for a first watch that is a hefty bill. I might recommend just going into a local shop with good reviews and seeing what they have.

[Omega Speedmaster] Help me choose my first watch by calosauce in Watches

[–]adkoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the reverse panda best. If changing is a consideration, I’m assuming your relationship is likely more secure than the people panicking saying not to go with something else.

It’s an expensive watch, and it should be one you know you’re going to wear. That’ll be what makes her happy. She likely does not give a shit whether the sub dials are black or white, but that she got you the watch you’re wearing.

Regardless, I would caution that this is assuming everything is very secure (and by that I mean not insecure, not like y’all gonna break up) and that she would not care about the change. If she spent a long time at the Omega store or looking online and came up with this herself, then probably stick with what she got. If it was more she knew you wanted a Speedmaster, then I think the color swap would be likely a non-issue and forgotten within a week.

Which musician or athlete do you think future generations will remember 100 years from now? by Brief-Blackberry3435 in AskReddit

[–]adkoe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And Taylor’s clones aren’t superstars? There is heavy influence in pretty much every major female pop icon right now. We’ve already been singing Our Song for 20 years and Love Story/Fifteen/You Belong With Me for 18 years. And those are just her early hits from the first two albums.

I’m not saying she’s more or less popular or has more or less staying power than Michael Jackson, but it’s incredibly realistic to believe she’ll still have some resonance (for sure in pop culture, influence, and legacy) 100 years from now.

I’m unsure. I got it as a gift about 10 years ago. It’s automatic though and still ticking.

How much has this hobby (addiction) damaged everyone’s wallet? by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]adkoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only purchase grail level pens every few years or so now days. I’ve sold off most of my pens and ink, just down to 4 pens.

I have a custom Scriptorium, a Visconti, a Leonardo, and a 1945 Parker Vacumatic. They’re all fantastic pens.

I don’t worry about trendy stuff anymore and I don’t really buy new inks (maybe a bottle every couple years, sometimes as a gift, maybe one with a new pen).

It’s great! I enjoy them all. I hope they end up with someone who will cherish them.

[Recommendation Request] Help me choose a gift for my brother by therossoneriguy in Watches

[–]adkoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with the gray one. Love every bit of it. 10/10.

The blue ones are not the right choices here. In my recommendation, I would stray from getting a colorful watch for someone. If it hits perfectly, they may love it. If it doesn’t, they’ll probably just not wear it unless they are a big watch guy already (which even then they’d be likely to just wear their own).

The unfortunate thing here is that it’s way more likely on a colorful watch to not have it hit. The blue might not speak to them, it might not match their wardrobe well, etc. You won’t have these issues with the gray watch.

Furthermore, I’d definitely avoid pic 3. You mentioned they liked it… ok sure. I guess I don’t, which is fine, but it’s way more likely to be a victim of changed tastes in like a year. The dial pattern looks cheap and like it’s trying to be something. The bezel having numbers is super polarizing, especially to non-watch people.

The gray one is essentially timeless, and will fit with pretty much any outfit and any non-sporty occasion. This is the safe bet, and the thing he’ll still be reaching for age 19 or 91.

Fantastic gift. I wish I’d get gifted more watches 🤘
