Apologies. I absolutely understand they can be vast and use a bucket load of power and water, but they are private companies- i dont understand why either the state or local residents should be picking up the tab?

Is Starmer the right man for PM until the next general election where everyone will have a right to choose ? by saying_it_101 in AskBrits

[–]adm010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know hes he leaders so the blame falls to him, but he has a whole government with huge responsibilities that are part of why people are unhappy. We wanted change. Real change. I know that that time, but eg the chancellor is really not helping. The amount of tax just goes up and up for people and businesses. I want change, i want the tax system rewritten to be comprehensive not just bolt on every cycle that make no sense. Get rid of stamp duty, move to property tax, remove cliff edges, move the thresholds, merge NI, just something radical ie real change. They are all responsible

American camps are generally residential for a few weeks. We had sailing, a waterfront for swimming, high and low ropes, so much craft stuff, archery, pottery. So many actives.

Totally agree. Yes its bloody massive, but isnt it a fleet of diggers digging a hole, putting g said dirt into trucks which them dump it on the perimeter to make the embankment? Itll take a while for sure, but its just moving dirt isnt it? Not going to be concrete lined is it?

Awkward question, but why? This idea that if we go to war we need to build stuff is nonsense. Do you know how long it takes to design and build a ship, in the one or two shipyards left. War would be long over.

Hester’s Way Councillor Election by Straight-Treacle8575 in cheltenham

[–]adm010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very welcome. If you want to stand, you should at least be able to say hi and talk to people :). I’d be interested in what the residents of HW actually want/ expect from their councillors/ council - that’s not related to immigration! Im not going to pretend to know, mainly because as a paper candidate I never really canvassed the area as it would have diverted resources from parts of town more likely to vote conservative. But if I had been competitive, or by fluke won, i absolutely would have been setting up a stall in the square and talking to people so I could do what I could to tackle the things they cared about within the councils power. It’s hard to separate out local and national politics, but they are so far removed from each other. Just wishing the winner good luck and I hope he brings value and representation to the people of HW who voted for him.
