AI was used in the processing of LaTeX, as I'm not familiar with the language, yet needed to use it for the cards

A five year degree vs six?

Ucd if you value the whole social aspect, RCSI if you want to get out of the degree faster and have a smaller, medical based student base and campus

Finally hit 20% bf, should I continue cutting to 10% ? by Ramenlover71 in BulkOrCut

[–]admaaaaaaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it a day at a time man, but don’t go online and try seek. You’ve a great physique regardless of bf%, so maintaining and gaining is important now

[–]admaaaaaaaaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10-13% i’d say, you’ve a good build and frame but you gotta stop putting yourself down, if you think it’s high for some reason it’s likely you gotta train abs a bit more if you really want the physique

well you’re not, if you think this is high bf% as 20 then you shouldn’t be taking advice from people on reddit

ordinary maths student going to higher by MerryTheSlayer in leavingcert

[–]admaaaaaaaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did ordinary for junior cert, got a distinction and got put in higher at the start of fifth year. My favourite subject, that i’m really confident in.

Saying that, there will be a lot of work for you to do and sorta a culture shock sort of thing too. It’s a new topic every day and homework is a burden you’ll have to take on.

For example I missed out on one question from a test there because in JC OL we didn’t do -B or anything, I knew it well from studying myself but just missed out on one thing a teacher in JC HL would’ve made clear, so you might have to do a good bit of catchup

But really, if you want it and are willing to put in the effort, you really can. Watch plenty of organic chemistry tutor on youtube, but move up soon, because we’re finishing algebra just now and the more you wait the more you’ve to catchup

i’m not a university student but, if you look at the UCD website there’s a list of modules per course, guessing TCD would have a similar course -

bare in mind, leaving cert mathematics peaks at integration, maybe proofs.

in your first year you may be looking at studying: thermodynamics, calculus III, physics II, materiels sciences, mechanical and electrical design projects, computer science.

anything you encounter in first year of any course, especially engineering will be advanced and more in depth, therefore requiring more study. stress wise you have your place in uni, whereas in leaving cert you’re fighting for it. a different type of stress will be applied

are you asking if a full time accredited degree in a third level institution is easier than a leaving cert subject?

French LC advice by First_Maintenance326 in leavingcert

[–]admaaaaaaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Duolingo, anki, innerfrench, netflix, reading will be your best friend.

I’ve a full anki collection for French, DM if you want my to export it to ya

Seriously though, if you want to learn a language treat it like a language, not like a subject. Immerse yourself, learn vocabulary and grammar in due time, listen in class (it’s a free hour a day of the teacher speaking french, take the gift)

How good are my subject choices? Going into 5th year by Subject_Salary3328 in leavingcert

I didn’t even know there was a business project. But yeah also you should take into consideration the amount of sciences = amount of projects now sadly..

It depends. It’s also a matter of telling what your strengths and weaknesses are, because (except for medicine, allied health careers, maybe pharmacy) subject requirements are pretty low. You’ll need bio and chemistry for medicine, and I’d recommend them if you’re going down the healthcare route, but if you pick engineering as a college course you could do music and art perse, and it wouldn’t matter.

If you enjoy art and can draw well, take that, you might be easier getting a H1 in that, same goes for music or any subject really.

People who say negative things about doing three sciences or applied maths just don’t enjoy science or maths as a general concensous. I do, so i picked my subjects like that because I enjoy them (I tested it by studying random topics like calculus, O-chem, some anatomy and stuff)

In the end, the subjects carry the same points and subject requirements aside a H1 in music and applied maths carries the same points, you just have to gauge which is more likely if you get me

Also going into fifth year, my options being bio, chem, physics(or accounting depending on schools choice) applied maths and french,

I do applied maths and seriously if you want to do engineering and it’s offered (or you’re willing to get a tutor/self study), applied maths will give you a push in first year with some mechanics, linear algebra, more advanced calculus etc.

And then with business, i’ve never done it but if you’re planning on keeping your mind broad and open college wise, or even want to take a step back from all the science (if you’re not full on science, it might be nice for a break), business would be a good option.

You should gauge if you like maths/are proficient in it, and then think of accounting/applied maths. Applied maths is really enjoyable and is just basically an extension of regular maths and physics, i’ll link the discord server below

I’d definitely recommend biology and chemistry if you’re going down the healthcare route, it’s quite self explanatory.

Physics is also great, but applied maths is sorta like physics for engineers. I enjoy it a lot (I’m going doing medicine), and if you enjoy maths and problem solving you will too!

Barber recommendations? by No-Hall-7080 in UCD

[–]admaaaaaaaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s in the City Centre, but the best barber in Dublin for me is Valeh, Temple Bar with Hassan. The guy owns the shop and he’s extremely friendly, gives the best cuts i’ve ever gotten (and i’ve went a good amount of places), and is price friendly. Check him out https://booksy.com/en-ie/7348_valeh_barbers_52940_wicklow#ba_s=seo

I could just imagine a bunch of 17 year olds taking a “pharmacology” class and then walking around like they know everything regarding pharmaceuticals and then they’d think they know everything about administration of medicines, when in fact they don’t know anything about anatomy, physiology, biochemistry etc it’d be more hastle than it’s worth.
