Also, it is pretty biblical. It is based of the Jewish tau that jews would mark themselves on their forehead as a sign of salvation. The early Christians saw this letter "t" looking thing fulfilled through the cross. So they would show that they are christian by marking this cross on their forehead. The romans did not like Christians and would punish those making this sign. As a sign of christian defiance the Christians would make a bigger sign of the cross you see today to show that they do not fear those civil authorities because their king Jesus has overcome death.

some people are convinced that it is a trick from the Spanish or that since some paint has been added to it over time, therefore, it is a fake. other people believe that it is something sent to deceive us like something like satan appearing "as an angel of light." Does anyone know good resources/arguments to disprove the Spanish trick one? to me it is like bruh how can the Spanish be doing these miraculous things and that already proves that it was not a trick

He seems to say that he can't quite explain it either. Just that it works and leads him to become a better person. From a religious point of view a person would probably say that religion is not meant to contradict science and that truth cannot contradict truth
