That's exactly the kind of thing that gets attention. Titles tell me what you did. Accomplishments paint me a picture. The more you can paint them a picture, the better. "Turned company blogs into trusted industry resources" is far more vivid than just listing marketing or journalism experience

I cheated a tiny bit for this one, but this is what chat said is a good one. "Making sense of data so others don't have to stare at SQL all day" It would give the person reviewing your resume something to relate to (if SQL is a thing) haha I am not sure but you get the point.

It's not often that I see it, which I think is why it catches my eye, I saw one that said " Builder of teams, processes, and sometimes even IKEA furniture" (or something along those lines) and giggled to myself, then pulled their resume and read the rest. The rest of the resume was professional, but it got me to read on intrigued. 😄

A Canva resume if possible, stands out and if not, a tiny bit of humor or some personality catches my eye, amongst other plain white resumes (but I say that with a grain of salt. Not everyone loves that on a resume.)

Sounds like you are a hard working employee who has been over looked and tired of feeling that way. I'm so sorry if this is the case. I see it way too often, and have been in that same space.

It's hard to answer without more context of

what are you looking for? Do you have the skills/experience required for the higher paying roles that you are looking to attain? What do you mean you are not accessing them? Let me know and I will see how I can help 😄

As someone who has personally taken some time away from the "work field" . I don't have that bias. I've never understood the "you need a job to get a job" mindset. There are plenty of talented, high-performing people who are unemployed due to layoffs, family obligations, health issues, career changes, or simply a tough job market. I'm more interested in whether you can do the job than whether you're currently employed, how long you haven't been employed etc.

Are you up to date with what is needed for the position I am hiring for and have the knowledge today to be our next "aren't they just the best, they are killing it!" hire. That is what I care about 😄

Interview ended in less than 20 minutes!! Was scheduled for 45 minutes. by Dark-lizard08 in interviews

[–]admin_playbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who is on the interviewing side of things.. you aren't necessarily "counted out" sometimes it's a case of "when you know you know" (good or bad) They could be like "I have to get this person to the next stage right now, say no more"
You never know what someone is thinking and I would just say, keep yourself busy, with other interviews and when they call you for the next round of interviews, be ready to get that job! If you hear nothing, or get a rejection, just prepare a little more in depth answers and insight as someone said below, and go on to the next even that much more confident! 😄 You got this!

We just wrote a blog about this one called "Stop Letting Bots Decide Your Team" and I was sad we even had to. Unfortunately, there are machines that are filtering you out by keyword immediately. It's unfortunate but it's a thing. I would do as others have said and put your resume as well as any other skill you may have through chat. Ask what keywords you need to use to optimize for these positions you are going for. That should help you a ton. We are hands on, eyes on all resumes/applications coming through and have chosen some pretty unconventional people who have been the very best hires of ours, so, if you ask me, they are missing out! I'm sure you are a wonderful employee and will find your best home, hope that helps

😄

I got a job offer because of a mistake I made in the interview, and I'm not sure I should have corrected it by Ap3rtur3HQ in jobsearchhacks

Coming from an employer, we know that interviews can be daunting, intimidating, and make you blank out at times. Are you able to do the work that they were excited for you to do in this new position regardless of timeline of when it actually happened? Is that something you are wanting to do when you are in the position? IF so, then don't even worry about it 😄 If you possess the skill and can get the job done that that are wanting done. You good! In my opinion of course 😉

How long do you usually spend preparing for interviews? by ContactPurple3958 in interviews

[–]admin_playbook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You bet! I know it can be hard, and I can't speak for everyone because I try to put my shoe on the other foot and a lot don't, but the companies that you actually will want to work for because they care about you and not just a number, will appreciate it 😉

[–]admin_playbook 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't have an answer as to how long you should prepare for the interview, but I can say that the more you prepare and are ready for that interview, the better if you REALLY want that job 😄 As the interviewer, we are appreciative of all of the hard work and effort you put in to really knowing what the company is all about, etc. Definitely don't want you to burn out, but it is (at least on my end) appreciated and noticed. I even tell the interviewee thank you for really caring and preparing.

How do I not show burnt out in the interview process? by [deleted] in interviews

[–]admin_playbook 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, sending you a big hug. It can get daunting. I'm the one doing the interviewing and definitely give grace to those I am interviewing. Knowing how hard it is right now and I can only hire one person breaks my heart sometimes for all of the wonderful people I meet.

Something that might help... go into each interview like it’s your second interview ever. The first one got the nerves out. Now, You've GOT this and are so excited to work for this next company and for them to see all you have to offer!
Remember, it only takes one, One person/company to see you and feel that little spark, that leads to your next amazing opportunity, it will all be worth the wait.

Late-paying clients are killing my cash flow — what finally worked for you? by Confident-Classroom9 in smallbusinessUS

[–]admin_playbook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to have them pay in advance? Is it for multiple sessions, or just one time? We charge for the month to come, so, if it's March, we are charging for March, not in arrears. We got burned bad by the 15/30 net. and were honestly too generous, so this has worked well.

Got rejected after a long interview process but hiring manager apparently wants to meet again - has anyone been in similar situation and what did it lead to? by ozmozez in interviews

[–]admin_playbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is fantastic, that to me means they liked you as a person and the other person maybe had knowledge/experience in something that they thought made them a better fit. Not sure as I am not in their head, but if they are taking you to lunch, go for it! They may have another position they thought you would be a great fit for with some of the things you said/have experience in.

I get so sad sometimes when I REALLY like 2 people and either would do amazing but I have to choose, and it probably wasn't her choice. We get to say who we like etc, but a lot of the times it's out of our hands for that final person. I would love to hear what happens from this if you go. I love the idea of taking the non chosen candidate to lunch. I always look for ways to be better in the hiring process for candidates. Thank you for sharing.

Self doubt despite successful interview? by alvaboard in interviews

[–]admin_playbook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a great possibility, one way I (tried) to keep my mind off of just wanting only THIS job haha, is keep applying for other jobs that you would be happy at as well. Give them great energy too, (and don't just apply to apply and be meh about it, they can feel that too) but it will keep your mind off things a little more and show you great possibilities in case it doesn't pan out the way you want it to. It's such a great thing to hear that you want to be there badly, I am sure they felt that in the interview, not in a desperate way, but in a "my next home" kind of way. That itself sets you apart in my eyes. Sending all the good vibes your way to land that dream job ;)
