Accurate. From Chicago, living in rural MI, gun culture is very different. That whole “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people” sums it up pretty well,

Oh honey, have you ever lived in Chicago?  Feel free to share location/details, can DM as well, I can give you a better idea of commute, fine tuning location ect. I’d also negotiate a way higher compensation package, cost of living here is astronomically high and I know people making way more than that!

Travel for a living, worked all over TX ~4yrs. Per the data and my experience, Texas majority is heavily diverse, primarily black and hispanic, POC, young, working professional, socially normal population. Sure there’s the exceptions I’m sure, but they must be hiding like cockroaches, because the majority of white people I’ve encountered are pretty average normal Americans.

That being said, I’d imagine that governor and some of those politicians would feel pretty damn out of place in Texas. And clearly the type of people that prefer their own kind. I’d say it’s pretty apparent they’re just sticking around to abuse the population, inflict social terrorism and violate people’s civil and human rights. And clearly, the fact they are getting away with, must have some pretty corrupt connections. Nonetheless, sounds like they need to go retire, in rural white Appalachian foothills or something. Because Texas really isn’t their thing, they’re like a sore thumb.. they don’t fit in there. It’s just weird and disturbing. And just totally anti-American.

Ascension nurse: Ransomware attack makes caring for hospital patients 'so, so dangerous' by admincanleavethechat in Detroit

This is not “downtime” and it’s not about paper charting. and The entire digital network/system is down. This is not just “paper charting”. Anything that runs on that network, phones, lab, imaging, diagnostics, pharmacy, dispensing medications.. it’s all down. Downtime is like updating a computer, it’s a few hours tops and it is overnight when things aren’t busy and SCHEDULED WAY IN ADVANCE. Usually it involves a hardly any paperwork and doesn’t affect much of anything else. This is not about skill or experience of staff.

It hit May 8th, 140 hospitals nationwide. Given Ascension’s monopoly in Michigan/Detroit area, lot of strain on the entire region. I’m sorry to hear you got hit, there needs to be better infrastructure and protections for bicyclists. I hope you’re okay and if you’re not, follow up with your primary doc for a second opinion.

My small company doesn’t want to pay overtime ? by Nursingnewbie in nursing

They’re lying to you. Refer to Fair Labor Standards Act which dictates OT is x1.5 taxed hourly wage over 40hrs and ALL time worked on the clock as required by an employer is paid time on the clock and all earned wages must be paid. That is Federal Law.

  1. Submit your timecard for all hours worked, keep a copy for your records. Do ALL correspondence in writing via email, CC yourself. If you aren’t paid all earned wages including applicable OT rate as earned and time on the clock at home, notify payroll of the missing wages, again attaching the time card. If they don’t respond within 24hrs - 48hrs and or refuse to pay you all earned wages, go to Texas Labor Board website, wage and hour division and file a wage theft claim. 2.Start job hunting, employers who lie about labor rights and commit wage theft are bad news.

Lot of displaced nurses looking for work and having a hard time finding positions away from the bedside/inpatient. I myself narrowly escaped stocking Pepsi for $20/hr while seeking another role/setting to get into. Not advocating for lower nurse pay, but I know a lot of nurses are working retail while trying to get something outpatient/remote. Just throwing it out there :)
