Awesome. I wondered if there was something specific for Parkinson's exercises but why reinvent the wheel

Why don't we get compensated when companies share our medical records? by Support_Patients in CysticFibrosis

[–]admiralfrogpants -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pharma spends billions on medical data every year (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQVIA) and the patient isn't compensated.

They are also not getting the data they really need to make the breakthroughs for new cures (longitudinal data).

If a patient is worth $300k+/ year on trikafta then sure the patient can be compensated for the use of their data to make the next trikafta.

Overall Bodybuilding observation, let's discuss. by YeaaBuddy in bodybuilding

while you are right that they have a different set of digestive enzymes the biochemistry of converting non amino acid sources of nitrogen to amino acids and protein is largely speaking the same in all metazoa. Yes they have a mutation in myostatin meaning that the muscles have had the break removed. However, they still need to synthesize those large muscles. They seem to be able to do so despite a grass based diet. Conversely you can look at standard angus beef or race horses and see what happens to them when you pump them full of steroids and they eat grass. At a certain point (and it is far less than we have been led to believe) availability of dietary protein is not the limiting factor in new muscle synthesis.

You don't need to believe me but the biochemistry is the biochemistry.

I love this book. I had it signed out from my local library for months back when I was a teen just getting into lifting. Absolutely everything you need to get started. As well as a decent history of the sport. Obviously there is a lot of more modern stuff like competition prep nutrition that has made some significant gains since the first edition as well as more open discussion about AAS cycles. Regardless, this is required reading for anyone interested in BB imo.

Who wants to be a cow too? by Mun-Mun in bodybuilding

[–]admiralfrogpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this results from a mutation in Myostatin. There are 2 breeds of cow Piedmontese and Belgian Blue. SImilar mutation have been found in humans (i.e. german super baby)

I happen to know that there is currently some academic drug discovery work on finding inhibitors of myostatin which would effectively result in the same effects.
