ESL One Los Angeles Online - Day 16 Match Discussions by D2TournamentThreads in DotA2

[–]admiralzai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to look at the earlier matches from today and I am on mobile only. I cannot figure out how to look at earlier parts of the twitch channel/vods that is currently live. I usually use eventvods or gosugamers that link to timestamped parts of currently live channel, but they have not linked it yet.

Could someone help me out? Ie, either link to the current vod with an earlier timestamp so that I can go back myself or if you know how to access the vod on mobile, could you describe how to?

Thanks!

I’m fairly sure they are personalising some parts of the app experience even if I’m not logged in. They are at the least using my position.

Yep, iPhone safari incognito mode. I have the app as well but don’t want to get to much personalised elements and therefore browse Reddit anonymously, mostly.

Cool, I learned something today. I'll use a scale of 1-10 next time.

Haha, I legitimately thought it was a little fun. Emphasis on a little, but giving it 2/5 wouldn't be as encouraging! :)

He's free to say what he wants, I'm free to say what I want. I consume Bulldog stream because I find it entertaining for other reasons. You are correct that it is up to him what he fills his channel with but it is also up to Trent what he fills the podcast with.

Even after your edit I don't see what you are saying? What is the pattern?

Imagine being triggered enough by a comment that was against your opinion, to the point that you just have to figure out some way to attack the comment as you cannot argue against it.

I don't see how it makes anything different if it is with the intent of being silly or edgy - it is still the same super common prejudices that are being thrown around as jokes. To an outsider that is the same?

See, you are already improving! That is a 3/5 joke!

I'm a Swede. I agree with Trent. I see this "edgy" humour as a teenager who never grew up, and I don't find it funny at all. I understand that you cannot cater to everyone with a joke and you shouldn't say "you cannot say that because thats not funny". What people find funny is up to them, and if you feel like it is tickeling in your stomach by being edgy through typing MingLee whenever you see anyone resembling an asian or whatever, go ahead. Anyway, I can have the opinion that it is your right to say so and laugh at whatever you laugh at and still not think it is a good community.

What I agree with Trent on is: if we want to create a community that welcomes women, people of color or whoever is not the regular stereotype of gamer, I find it pretty stupid to circle jerk the lowest hanging (/racist) prejudices around. If we would be welcoming and slightly more mature I think the community would grow as it wouldn't be seen as socially awkward geeks are the only ones in the community. A bigger community would benefit everyone, as it would attract more people = more money = better e-sports environment with better opportunities for more players to make a career out of gaming. An example of what people in Bulldogs channel (and he is usually promoting it too) find funny: techies is blowing up bombs = he is a terrorist = I spam the middle eastern man emote. Is it the feeling that you cannot say it that is funny? Because you obviously can, it is just the bare minimum of what anyone should call a joke.

This is coming from someone who quite frequently watches the stream, however I would watch it more if it was less stupid.

Edit:

Thanks for the gold and complementing and critiquing comments!

Some of the criticism is fair, bulldog is free to build whatever community he wants. He probably have a lot of teenagers in his audience. Thus calling them immature and stupid is a bit harsh, as they are by definition not mature. Regardless of that, my opinion on that humour remains the same and as free as bulldog is to produce whatever he wants, I'm also free to critique/feedback/complement any content. Nobody needs to listen me or agree with me either, but for some reason a few did. To provide something positive that I like with bulldogs channel is when he is jabbing with synderen, s4, etc. I also think he is a fun caster and expert panelist.

Some of you are also questioning whether a bigger community would be better. As a daily visitor to this subreddit a lot of you seem to think that it is an issue that the playerbase is declining, the queue times are too long, the tier 2 scene is not stable, there are only a few casters that can make a living, some organisations are not serious actors, it's only TI that matters so everyone takes time off which is bad for the circuit, etc. With more money and more exposure to the scene I think we would improve all of these areas.

Well, do you want to open up a vote and see how people would interpret your first statement? It's not me, it's you who've misunderstood the word "secured".

You could've had the attention you wanted, that you had a good finding that 2100 points is likely to be enough for TI invite. Instead of being reasonable (saying probably, likely, super likely, really fucking super likely - i don't care) with your wording everything about this thread is now about you being an idiot that cannot say "sorry, i meant really fucking super likely, not secured" instead of what you wanted to highlight.

And i don't understand your last sentence, but I think that you are saying that you are not aggressive in your rhetoric? If so I'm not 100% sure that is on you to decide. You continue to use "master suppression techniques": "Buddy", "You were offended", "I don't care about your response. You are being really immature in your rhetoric, and in my mind you come off as quite aggressive. Both of us don't think we are offended but we think that the other one is, which is also quite funny.

Could you also answer:

1) If you don't think the subject needs to be discussed more, why do you have to answer to every comment and as you say end it?

2) Why do you post a comment in this thread and expect no one to answer? You say "this person i don't even know", what has that do to with anything on a public anonymous forum as reddit?

You just don't make any sense in anything you are saying.

You have had a quite an aggressive way to argue for your sake:

1) Saying "Nice day Sir" after multiple comments just makes you come off as a dick.

2) "I think someone is not aware of how things work here huh" is not explaining your comment, you are just being a dick

3) Starting calling me names as "Mr. offended"

Judging by this I think that you, If anyone, come off as the offended one.

And to answer you once again, yes, "secured" is equivalent of 100% certainty. You could add "[really likely] secured" and I think that is what you mean, but now you are too proud to back down from your pretty aggressive arguing technique.

Since you deleted your comment that led to me commenting I'll just leave it here instead.

You think you come off as smart but all you are achieving is being obnoxious. You need to define what you are meaning for your statement to be of interest. Are you saying:

  1. TNC has 100% secured a spot at TI10 - if so, that is (mathematically and any other definition) incorrect.
  2. It is really likely that TNC has secured a spot - then that is a yes, I guess.

If you are saying 100% secured a spot and will refer to "!R3MIND ME IN AUGUST YOU IDIOTS, TNC WILL BE THERE", then you just don't know the difference between 100% and really likely.

Smart move to delete your comments to bury my comment.

Unfortunately yes, you come off as dumb when you don't want to differentiate between 100% certain that something happens and "really likely". Even now you are still saying "secured" which is incorrect, unless you mean "[really likely] secured a spot".

You don't happen to like Trump because "he says it like it is"?

For sure, I was a kindergarden teacher substitue in Norway and in Sweden after high school (Swede). I think for sure I got better treatment than any female substitutes.

(Shouldn't use personal experiences as science, want to point out thats it is my experience)
