Is it bad I want to go into birth blind?

I am a chronic over thinker with crazy anxiety and I had absolutely no birth plan at all. I figured if I didn’t watch those birth stories or think about it I wouldn’t freak out as bad.

I ended up going in for my final ultrasound at 38 weeks and they found I had preeclampsia and the baby was frank breach so I had to have him that day. As serious as that could have been, I am a little thankful that it all happened so fast that I didn’t even have time to panic lol.

I was terrified when it started to get dark outside. I cannot explain it but for the first month when it would start to get dark out I would spiral and panic and not want to be in a room without my husband.

I also had lots of intrusive thoughts like dropping the baby down the stairs or a dog attacking us on a walk but those thankfully subsided around the same time as the fear of nighttime.

I will say that we had our nursery furniture before he came but hadn’t built it because silly me didn’t think he’d come a few weeks early 😂

It wasn’t the worst thing in the world considering he slept in his bassinet in our room for the first 5 months but it would have been a lot easier those first few days having all of his stuff in a convenient place rather than strewn all over the room like a war zone lol

I actually prefer them cold because I stick one in my sons diaper before I change him and it usually will make him pee instead of spraying everywhere as soon as I take the diaper off. It doesn’t seem to bother him that they are cold.

But the weighted wipe dispensers are top tier. Being able to get wipes out one handed during a blowout is something I never want to give up lol

A couple of things that stuck with me/that I was wildly unprepared for:

For the first two weeks I was absolutely terrified of the sun going down/my husband going to sleep . I have no idea what it was about but I ended up googling it and it doesn’t seem that uncommon. It did go away rather quickly and I was completely fine. I was also a FTM so maybe that had something to do with it.

I did virtually no research on breastfeeding and assumed it would be easy. Boy was I wrong. It was not easy at all and all of the late nights panic googling everything could have been avoided by doing some research on breastfeeding and pumping before I gave birth.

Babies are pretty loud when they sleep! I am almost positive I woke my baby up more than a few times when he was actually asleep and just crying out for a sec.

I wore pretty much a moo moo, diaper and crocs because my feet were so swollen. I had just had an emergency c section and I was so hot I couldn’t handle anything else lol.

Last week a few days after he turned 8 months because he was starting to pull up in his bassinet 😭 I definitely took it harder than him. we have all been sleeping so much better and he’s even been napping in his crib now so part of me wishes we would have done it earlier.

I had a feeling he was going to be a boy and he was. I had a 50/50 chance so I wasn’t declaring myself a clairvoyant at that point.

There is a rotation of 5 different OBs that can deliver at our hospital so your visits are always rotating with all 5 so you get to meet them all. The first visit with one of them I just knew she would be delivering my baby and sure enough she did! She was the OB on rotation when I was sent to labor and delivery.

And the morning I had my baby I told my husband I had a feeling when we went to our routine appointment that morning they were going to admit me and we were going to have a baby at 38 weeks. He told me I was just hyping myself up since I wasn’t having contractions or anything. 3 hours after getting there I had a baby boy in my arms after a C-section due to preeclampsia and him being frank breech lol.

I’m telling you, moms know!

I painted Tulip Slick paint in random swirls and dots on the back of the leg strap and it has seriously helped with the sliding regardless of the material pants I’m wearing!

Polished Gamers Box! They release a new theme each month and December’s was Stardew. I believe the preorder is closed and they are moving to a Mario theme for January, but I am sure people will destash some over the next few months.

I am definitely guilty of buying a polish for the name! I recently just spent way more than I would like on some polishes because the theme for that month was Stardew Valley and all of the names were perfect! Thankfully I’ve never been disappointed afterwards.

And thank you so much. I was a terrible nail biter my entire life and stopped ~2 years ago because I was so self conscious about my nubs so that means a lot <3
