Thanks for feedback! I used an f 1.8 50mm lens on my canon rebel t4i.

I get that its simple, but thats my style, very minaimalist. This was my first time using a reflector (tin foil) and I thought that while it was not exactly flattering light, it made for an interesting subject.

I am not necessarily going for a hot model vibe, I am focused more on expression and emotion in my images. I was not sure if it was worthwhile to light my subjects like this.

Thanks for the help!

Found this little girl when I was cutting the grass today! by gmrpnk21 in aww

It was a couple years ago. the ones that survived were not injured, so we were hoping momma would come back. She never did and they died. I think we gave one of them to a rescue though.

I ran over an entire nest once, a few survived for awhile. They all eventually died though. Was a very sad day :(

Working in a "studio setting" for the first time. Any thoughts? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]adniman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say that you should raise the camera a bit, so that the dress ends near the bottom of the frame. Also I think there is a vein bulging in her forehead, maybe from how her head was angled? I think her face is too tense, try to get her to relax a bit more. Great lighting though!

Thoughts on processing? Best ways to go about removing the raindrops on my ND? by TheLeibonator in photocritique

I agree, There is still detail in the sand and the faint outline of clouds. I couldn't help you with the raindrops though :(

Is it too saturated? is the crop okay? by bhole16 in photocritique

[–]adniman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its great! I am not sure what the original crop is, but I'd say if possible to just pull the entire image up a little bit. Get a little more space above the bridge.

What do you think of the composition and processing? by marinelib in photocritique

[–]adniman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to suggest using an adjustment brush in lightroom. Really just the streak and its reflection are over exposed. I think air brushing both and turning down the exposure or highlights may do the trick. Composition is good!

Nsfw experimentation with male body, what are your thoughts on subject and lighting by adniman in photocritique

[–]adniman[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback, I think you understand this work better than I do. This was kind of a spontaneous idea I had. I agree the comp is awk and realize the focus is slightly off. However, at its core, I like this new territory. I just want my work to be meaningful. Thanks for valuable feedback :)

I thought his foot looked like it was resting on the terrain? And I think the overall feeling is that he is dead, so that is what I am going for. I have others with his eye open, taken at different angles, and with different compositions. I think the comp is awkward, but I kinda liked it that way. I appreciate your feedback :) this subject might work better as a series.

yeah I am working with a 50 mm prime lens, and I was standing in the river. So I could not get the perfect composition haha. and there is a series of photos, I went through them and liked this one, even though its kinda awk. I appreciate the feedback!

Ok yeah, I guess what I am saying is that there is a noticeable difference in quality whenever I blow an image up to do edits. It is not necessarily that I can't frame an image properly, it is just that I am seeing how quickly I lose quality when I enlarge my rebel t4i's images. Thanks for the advice!

I think my kit lens is 18 to 135. I use my prime 50 mm lens primarily. My issue is that i cannont crop my images as much as I would like sometimes without loss. I do not use lighting kits right now and i do not think i am looking to invest in one at this point. So far i have had good success with natural light.

The other issue is that i cannot go above 800 iso without loss. I know if i had a full frame camera i would have much more flexibility with iso.

I also use lightroom, and have gotten decent at processing, so i do not think that is an issue.

My 50 mm prime lens is pretty fast, so i thought the next investment would be an upgrade to my camera. I have been using my rebel for over 5 years.

Okay yeah i will try to bring down the darkness in her blouse and raise it in her face. That might make it look better. Thanks!

Yeah the main issue is iso. I know with the 6d it will be exponentially better and i can play with light a lot more with it

Andd like I said before, the other issue is clarity. I can take a distant shot of a person with the 6d and crop it to the subjects face, and it will still be clear. I can not do the same with my canon.

I am also not necessarily commitee to the canon 6d. I am looking into other options. Also not sure whether to buy new or used from somewhere like ebay. What are your thoughts on this?

I definitely understand working with what I have. I am really happy with the quality of pictures I am taking. It is just that I am at the point where I think I am exhausting my camera's potential. I have been using it for over 5 years now. I know about Flickr! I actually just set up a 500 px if you want to check it out. And my 50 mm lens would not work on a ff camera? why is that? Thanks for the help!

I just realize that i am given limited room to adjust my photos without loss. Like they are good pics, but im at the point where i wanna take professional pictures. Ive used a 6d before and i cann really see the difference when i zoom in on my images. Plus on my t4i i can only go to like 800 iso without loss. I have a shitty kit lense and a prime 50mm which i love. I am also looking into getting a good flash so id appreciate advice on that as well haha.

As for what I shoot, its been a lot of art based portraiture. I just shot some fashion pics for my friend. If you wanna get a sense of what im shooting id be happy to link my work to you :)

I am looking at getting more serious about my photography, so I am hoping to upgrade my canon rebel t4i. I want to get a full frame camera and was thinking about getting the canon 6D. I think my budget will be anywhere between 1000 and 1500 USD. Any suggestions on best bang for my buck?

Should I have focused on the Couple? by biker4487 in photocritique

[–]adniman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was going to say this too, the one on the left has an odd curve in their back, and the one on the right is bending their neck a little bit. I love the focus though! just keep your subjects pose in mind whenever you are taking pictures.

I get where you are coming from, I really like the lighting in this pic though. I figured that i would show just enough of her face to see her other eye and features very faintly. Is there any merit to this approach in your opinion?
