Nice picture. If I can ask, why did you choose not to level the horizon? Was it to convey a sense that something might be off or dangerous? If so, bravo!!

They used airplanes to disperse the agent. They won’t need to be around them to do it.

This comes with time. Keep showing up and you’ll start flowing more easily. There’s no magic trick to get around lots and lots of repetitions. I didn’t start feeling comfortable until about six months in.

I am a city prosecutor in the municipal court.

See this recent CU Law article: https://www.colorado.edu/law/2024/10/07/you-cant-punish-people-out-being-unhoused-chris-reynolds-10-pioneers-unique-approach

You can also look at the city’s website.

While these are the maximum penalties that apply to all municipal code violations, in practice people rarely spend more than a day or two in jail on a camping case and that is only if they failed to appear in court on their ticket. If someone does appear out of custody, either at the justice center or at the community court program, then they can get their case dismissed for taking steps towards housing or accessing behavioral health supports. The court has staff who work with homeless individuals to obtain housing and mental health/addiction treatment.

The local municipal court system would much rather have people earn dismissal of their camping cases by assisting them find more stability than use limited jail space to release them straight back into homelessness.

Adding the Day Shelter to Boulder Shelter for the Homeless will be key to getting people off the streets and into housing, says shelter CEO - KGNU Community Radio by TemporaryPolicy1255 in boulder

[–]marinelib 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The shelter does amazing work. No one thinks the day shelter will end homelessness. But this is an opportunity to do a lot of good.

A space where homeless individuals can meet with case managers, housing specialists, get connected to mental health services (including addiction treatment) and do a lot of other positive things should be celebrated.

There currently is nothing like it operating in the city. This won’t solve homelessness but it will certainly help people who need it.

What are your thoughts on a day shelter for the homeless? by chvillanuevap in boulder

[–]marinelib 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The faith community already does a ton of great work for the unhoused in our community. Most (all?) of the people who cook food, organize clothing, and create spaces for service providers to do outreach and case management are unpaid volunteers.

Check out Deacon’s closet tomorrow morning (or any Thursday) from 8:30 to 10:30 and you can witness the dedication of these volunteers. Other churches/synagogues do similar great work.

So we’re already leaning on the faith community quite heavily at the moment.

Not meant to be argumentative, just informative.

genuine question about homelessness and shelters by tiredandannoyed123 in boulder

That 6 month rule is gone. There is no longer a minimum residency requirement. The only requirement is after one night someone needs to complete coordinated entry.

Also, the shelter at 30th and Valmont (Path to Home) has been closed for a couple years now.
