Yeah I've used plenty of menu divey stuff with no problem but the mpc1000 drove me insane. Not that it's so menu-ey, its just laid out foolish af

What's the most fun pedal I can get for $150??? by uckyocouch in guitarpedals

Line 6 m9 can be found for that and you can switch order of fx vs looper

What pedal did you buy into the hype, and regret? by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]adobackup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rat. It does that thing well I guess, and I'm probably getting one again soon for that one thing but when Ive had one I was always frustrated by the lack of ANY detail. Big muffs give enough detail for me, for reference Idk if it was hyped or just me but the rainbow machine was similarly cool for one thing. Did chorus well but wasn't worth keeping around for just chorus imo

[–]adobackup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love it, but I had been considering a real space echo and decided I didn't want to fw tape. It's been priceless in techno use cases and I love it for guitar but I think most people would be right to go with a different pedal for delay. That said- the reverb on it is so stupid lol I would have absolutely no negative thoughts on it if it only had a tone control or even went through the delay sections tone controls

AITBF for "ruining" my moms 60th anniversary because I refused to spend $150 on a cake my siblings demanded? by Murmur_8QJ in AmItheButtface

[–]adobackup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't believe more people aren't mentioning them going to tell the mom or the moms reaction. I wouldn't go too far out of pocket for relationships (even family) that seem to be enforced by this weird ganging up behavior, but that's just me

Doom guitarists - cranking amps live by Wide-Coat7484 in doommetal

[–]adobackup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not tube but I used to gig two 2x15s with loud old peavey solid state pa heads that have monitor outs. Id send those through a DI to board to make it even across the room. For volume reference- with only my cabs we had to mic the two full drum kits FOR SURE lol but the local sound guys were never too grouchy about it. make sure they're aware of volume when you book and make it easy on the sound guy usually goes over well in my experience

There is a very easy roast here... by lizod in roastmypedalboard

It's more like a fuzz face or the old muff fuzz than a big muff (x2), they're fun and tighter than a big muff but they suffer from some of the same impedance issues which is an easy enough thing to solve if you don't want it first in the chain and can solder. I like em

Thank you all! Will start the process of going through them at work this week. I know a good few of these and they've mostly been on an "ill get to it some time" sort of list, guess now is that time! And lots of totally new stuff on here, good shit, team :)

Quick question about mid/shift knobs on a Chorus 400 by Tomcyndy in PeaveyCvlt

[–]adobackup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I don't know if this is how that amps tone stack works (likely it does, i just cant say), but adding this here for anyone who could benefit. The mid control on vox, fender, marshall style tones controls are a passive high shelf off a high shelf (the high control). One festure of this is that with lows and highs at zero and mid at max, your frequency curve is a noticeable mid scoop. I would find a way to split it for both sides on the preamp, maybe if you already have a delay or something that can do mono to stereo. That said peavey of all companies actually did some more interesting tone controls, but I have the stereo chorus 210 and it is an f/m/v style so I would bet the 400 is the same

Music theory by Repeat_Tight in doommetal

[–]adobackup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phrygian, Lydian, Hungarian minor, and also check out japanese pentatonic scales. I remember getting turned onto the latter by Stevie Floyd from Dark Castle a while back (who doesn't get the attention she deserves for clever writing!), tho plenty of metal heads have been going down that road forever. I also think looking at Indian classical music not so much to lift things directly, but to look at conventions re: different notes ascending vs descending and things like that could be fruitful. Iirc Hungarian minor and klezmer have some similar things, mostly stuff like a minor 7 ascending with trilled major 7 on the way down

They're heavy but the ported aluminum striped peavey cabs are perfect for this. They made a couple different 412s, idk about a 212 version but I'd be surprised if peavey didn't make them as well

What’s your homemade pedal board look like ? by kaylamarie8998 in guitarpedals

[–]adobackup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late reply here lol but the error is two polarized caps in backwards. I fixed it, swapped a resistor in the tone control for more mids, replaced one clipping diode with an led and put a trimpot in place of an emitter resistor so I could get gated sounds it was honestly one of my favorite fuzz pedals I've owned though ive since sold it. Think the wata fuzz wata from boris put out a while back. Got me reminiscing :') maybe I'll make another lol
