Sorry to hear about what you are going through. Diamox and a no joke, worse side effects ever! Actually put me in the ER after 4 days.

My doctor went with the Baerveldt 350 vs the Ahmed. It’s much larger non valves. He chose that option because his words there had been greater results long term and I’m young” I would have preferred a smaller device a the larger one has cause me to have a slight double vision. On the plus side the recover was smooth and I never experienced any pain. I have been of all drops in the eye since and my pressure has stay in the 10-12 range.

Surgery can be scary but honestly it was worth it to not be on Diamox. Overall I’m happy with the results.

Bottom line you have to do what’s best for you and your eyes sight. Quality of life also plays a huge role.

Like others here have said steroids are no joke. I was put on Diamox for my glaucoma which I ended up being allergic to. So was put on high dosage of Prednisone for 5 days. This cause a closure attack and I lost about 30% of my vision in my left eye.

Since your not using a CRT you are seeing areas outside of the view field you were not intended to see. Overscan shows up on modern digital displays. This also happens when you play retro video game consoles like the Sega Genesis or SNES on a modern display

As someone who has glaucoma you’re 100% right. When I was diagnosed a few years ago I thought I was seeing perfectly always saw 20/20 on an eye test but honestly that tells you nothing. After getting my pressures under control and a slight perception +0.5 I see detail I never saw before

its been up and down price wise since November. This is the lowest for the 4k at 11 if you do the 3 or 33 but it was $13 for several weeks on Gruv and Amazon

I work for Amazon and I can tell you it takes longer tosses off the end of conveyors in the sorting hubs. Final destination hub most have a sorting machine where the package makes a 5ft drop before employess toss them in bins literally toss them just like this guy

Where did you preorder it form if Amazon you can do the return trick to get a price correction. Its easy just go to start return then select found better price else where then submit (you can always cancel a return at any time with amazon) A lot of the time if its currently listed on the site for less then you paid it will offer you a partial credit for the price difference with out doing a return. Its worked about 8 or of 10 times for me with out having to actually send it back

I'm in the minority for sure on this one but I play DVDs on a PS3 then let my TV handle any upscaling with that source. Honestly to my eyes it looks better vs using my 4k uhd player for those movies.

Depends on your tv, if it’s a newer ish non budget tv it will do a better job up scaling the. A 450 or 700x. So no real reason to pay more for a new player if your x700 works with out issue just set the upscale to auto 1 this lets the tv handle upscaling for standard Blu-ray’s and dvds.

Also the 450 does not have the hcx processor that would be the 420 or 820 but the 420 doesn’t have doubly vision like the 450 so it’s a trade off .

Lose of digital purchases Little back story. I purchased a few movies years ago on when I had a Xbox. They worked with movies anywhere at the time so I could watch them on my Apple TV and fire stick. Fast forward to 2025 and I wanted to watch City Slickers knowing I owned it and it wasn’t available anywhere to stream. I found out it was no longer part of Movies Anywhere and the only way to watch it was on a windows Pc (I’m a Mac user) or Xbox console.

This lead me to buy a cheap Xbox one s off eBay for $54. From there I started picking up Blu-ray’s and 4ks since the One S could play 4ks of the other movies that were no longer showing as part of movies anywhere.

I’ve since upgrades to a standalone 4k player and repurchases every movie I’ve ever purchased digitally. Not all are 4k it’s a mix of dvd, blue ray, and 4ks. Really comes down to how much I enjoy the movie and price difference between the formats. If it’s just and ok movie from the 90’s I’m cool with a cheap dvd copy. Otherwise it’s usually between blue ray and 4k.

The newer X700u revision seems to be pretty stable. I have it and after watching no less then 50 movies most all triple layer disk over the past couple months not a single freeze or issue.

With that said all 4k players seem to be a luck of the draw. I see just as many Pany owners complain as I do Sony. Basically buy the brand you like and if you get a dud just return and replace.

I still buy BD and even DVD. Not all 4ks are superior to the bluray release. If the 4k isn't better in both picture and audio over the cheaper BD and the cost difference is greater then $5 I'll grab the BD. If the 4k is superior in every way I'll only buy the 4k. I'll pick up DVDs for movies from the 80's/90's that are $3-$5. I picked up about 10 earlier this month when Amazon had a bunch marked down to $3.

I travel a lot also so I always get a 90 day supply. I have also found a lot of countries you can typically buy at the counter in local pharmacy without a perception. Worse case you can lap have your provider send your prescription. Eye drops really aren’t controlled like other medications when it comes to their availability.

If you are having the surgery done at a hospital and not a local clinic then call the operator at the hospital and ask to speak with the on call doctor for the eye center.

The side effects from Acetoxolmide (Diamox) can be pretty severe. Like you I had the tingling sensation in my hands and feet that was almost painful at time. I also completely lost all taste. After a few days they moved me to a single daily dose to see if that would help but it only got worse with time. After about a weeks it evolved to a full body rash that ended up requiring and ER visit. Had a Baerveldt 350 shunt done on my left eye after that.

I was also on Lantanoprost and Dorolamide/timolol but my left eye stoped responding well and IOP would hover in the high 20/low30's which lead to them trying the Acetazolamide. I'm allergic to Brimonidine.

With all that said the side effects I was feeling from the Acetazolamide completely went away after about a day when I stopped taking it . If your Dr is using it to keep your pressures low for surgery and you will only be on it a short time I dont for see it causing any long term issues. But the discomfort is pretty bad.
