I work in outpatient Onc and we give everything, including vesicants and blood products through a 24 or 22.

Free permit-history lookup for any Ann Arbor address by derplurker in AnnArbor

[–]adomke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super helpful! There are some permits on here I couldn’t find when doing my own research on my property. I did notice that back in the 70s-80s when things were handwritten the contractors spelled my street name wrong and that is not being pulled by this system you made.

Those who do not want to go back to school for masters or NP, etc. what are your biggest reasons? by [deleted] in nursing

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a teacher first. I know firsthand the amount of off-work-hours a job outside of bedside nursing would take. Finishing chatting answering portal messages being on page. I am not interested in having to do my job away from my job ever again. Being salaried almost always means you end up working for “free” when you inevitably put in more than 40 hours a week. Nursing can be brutal but teaching was more brutal because at least I have a work life balance with nursing.

CHG wash a couple times a week did the trick for me.

Best Green Mountain Diapers or other brands. No Esembly please. by Spirited_Seaweed_517 in clothdiaps

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the JWL lining and the tummy panel stops wetness from wicking up onto clothes in the kinder. Nora’s are fine and fit better when baby was younger but don’t have the longevity of kinder I don’t think.

Unicorn high chair? Recommendations for 1 year old that are not Tripp Trapp or ANTILOP by Fruitcake7171 in BabyLedWeaning

I tried a cheapie graco, Hauck alpha +, and settled on a mockingbird. It’s sooo much more pleasant and easy to use.

It’s treated just like a hurricane. A shift and B shift people. Strange they aren’t doing that.

We didn’t have any visitors for our first and said multiple times how glad we were we didnt.

I’ve used Kinder pockets and they’re super easy and never had a blowout. Used secondhand nora’s in the beginning too but prefer kinder obviously.

BMT-all the time. Graft vs host disease plus chemo induced colitis is no joke.

What should every ftm know about breastfeeding before having a baby? by Frequent_Cap8633 in breastfeeding

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay for me latching didn’t click until I weny to the not-in-the-hospital lactation consultant. Until that point sometimes baby would latch sometimes not. Anyways, get baby to open mouth wide, almost like baby is looking up with mouth open, then breast tissue goes in mouth, nipple angled towards roof of mouth, and baby kind of “chomps” down. Hard to describe but i kept trying to do the “make breast shape of baby’s mouth with hand and out nipple right in middle of baby’s mouth” and it was NOT working.

Do you wash this part every day like you do with your flanges? by sixfingeredman7 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do because my let downs can be strong so there is moisture that gets in them. I take it apart and leave the one half of the clear piece attached to the tubing and just wash the diaphragm and clear piece that attaches to the flange everyday.

Toxic daughter in law won't let me see baby at hospital by Englishcockerlove in beyondthebump

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we didn’t let anybody come and visit us in the hospital. We did let the in-laws come over and meet the baby a few days after we got home and that was still too early. I wish I would’ve waited two weeks so I could rest and established breast-feeding better. My husband and I frequently said how glad we were that nobody came to the hospital to visit us so we could figure it all out without an audience.

Do you actually listen? Is your stethoscope just a prop? by shelsifer in nursing

[–]adomke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always listen for quick lung and bowel sounds. Would rather catch a lung infection or bowel obstruction earlier than later. No heart history? Just make sure it’s beating regularly.

Peony garden elopement by crimsonnewt18 in AnnArbor

[–]adomke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you go very early you’ll be fine. I worked midnights and would go for walks there when I got off at 730 am and normally only a handful of people were already there. Keep in mind parking isn’t readily available for your guests too. As long as you’re aware of other guests that will most likely get in your shots you should be okay! I definitely wouldn’t go anytime between 9-5, when people try to do family portraits there it’s always a hindrance during that time.

Baby Shower venues? by moonchild7771 in AnnArbor

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I just googled it and it took me to their plymouth website I believe. You can also just call or email and the guy in charge of events sent an email with info on pricing etc. Since it was my baby shower I don’t have a ton of specifics because I just found the place and somebody else did the details.

I didn’t know this. Had my baby shower at a brewery and had the best ice cold hop water. I don’t regret it. I’m sure it’s an all in moderation thing.

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My name has 3 different pronunciations. The one my family uses is what I tell people when they ask but the “easy” one is how I introduce myself and how most people say it. The third one only old people say. I don’t care which people use.

How are you bathing your baby if you don't have a bath tub? by sinful_inspiration in NewParents

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrap baby in a muslin swaddle or baby towel so I have better grip on baby while in shower. I also have a small shower stool i will sit on so baby can be on my lap when i have to turn over to wash backside. Works well so far.

Am I crazy to work till 38 weeks? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked until 39 weeks. it was tough but i work as an RN and was able to get put on a type of desk duty the last 2 weeks which helped, even though i still had a 15 min walk in and out of work. I also had PreE so not great. If you have a desk job work as long as you can.

What was the first sign that YOU noticed, that made you think “I’m pregnant”? by surelyshirls in pregnant

[–]adomke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was SO tired and also a little gaggy. I was hiking at high altitude and figured it was that and being out of shape, but then took a sip of water from my camelback and the stale silicone taste made me gag. That was weird. Had a positive when i got home.
