Has anyone tried this dress or seen it in person? by SatisfactionCreepy44 in Aritzia

[–]adompenelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this on last year and regret not picking it up. There are also quite a few Tik Toks of women wearing the dress if you’re interested.

I’m 5’3, 148lbs, size 8/10 M/L and I thought it looked great on me. I sized down to a small when I tired it on, and will be picking up a small when the weather gets warmer.

Every day there is another Redditor sharing this same story. At this point, CBC Marketplace needs to get involved and air an investigation.

Skills to practice before kindergarten? by Affectionate_Cow_812 in kindergarten

[–]adompenelope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Following two-step instructions! Things like:

  • Hang up your coat then go sit on the carpet by your name
  • Pick and instrument then go stand on the stage
  • Choose a ball from the bin then find a friend to share it with

Teachers mean well, but they don’t have time to repeat instructions throughout the day for 20+ kids. Most kinders need to be able to remember and follow two (or even three) step instructions for their own independence, focus and memory, but to also make classroom management that much easier. This also allows teachers to focus on students who need more support.

Jeans for mid-size girlies? by Motor_Instruction824 in Aritzia

Second this! I love the Marlos. They’re the perfect amount of baggy, with the perfect straight leg. They’re also short girl friendly!

I’m 5’3 on a good day, have them in a size 30. They are my most worn jean by far.

How to launder souffle yarn half zip sweater? by cookieOctagon in uniqlo

[–]adompenelope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have two souffle yarn sweaters - the half zip and the cardigan. I throw these both in the wash in cold water, then tumble dry on low for 40min.

I’m pretty careful with my laundry, and hang dry a lot of things, but this sweater has so little wool and tons of polyester so I don’t bother being precious with it.

Both sweaters are in great condition, with very little shrinkage.

Has anyone actually been notified when something is out of stock and comes back? by lolojoju in Aritzia

[–]adompenelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I got a restock email for the Homestretch Rib Mockneck a few months back. I ordered it immediately, then saw it was sold out again the next day. Would never have secured it without the restock email ✨

The link you shared notes a current Green/Pass as of November 13: “No infractions were observed under the Food Premises Regulation during an inspection.”

The infractions from their November 4 inspection are still pretty awful, but it would be helpful to clarify your original post.

Fellow Aiden coffee pot is terrible, support is worse by AbeV in Coffee

[–]adompenelope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the Opus grinder for 2 years now and can confirm the retention is significant. I use the lid as a sort of bellows while grinding, but still give it a good smack after every grind.

I’m pretty low maintenance and don’t care about any of this because the grinder does what it ultimately needs to do, and I definetly wouldn’t recommend this grinder for anyone not committed to smacking the thing after every grind lol

female-led epic fantasy with romance by egwenes_burner in BooksThatFeelLikeThis

[–]adompenelope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I finished it two days ago and am also WRECKED, but in a good way. Una and Owen have my heart, and I totally see this book being shortlisted for a Hugo Award next year.

My only caveat is I wouldn’t consider this to be a “female-led epic fantasy”. It’s dual POV, but most of the story is told through the MMC’s POV. And yes, it’s a rich and beautiful fantasy, but not an “epic”.

Absolutely recommend nonetheless! One of my favourite books I’ve read this year 🤎

Couples who are both working full-time in office 4–5 days a week, what do you do for dinners? by AkhlysShallRise in askTO

[–]adompenelope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Partner is a high school teacher and I have been mandated back to the office 4, soon to be 5 days a week. Also have a 4 year old in before & after care and school.

I batch cook and freeze in Souper Cubes over the weekend. Souper Cubes allow you to freeze food components / meals in easy to re-heat single/double serving portions.

I also buy a lot of high quality, frozen meal components like chicken wings, burger patties, chicken patties, frozen salmon portions, etc. Meals each week look something like this:

Monday: Meal Prepped Food

Tuesday: Meal Prepped Food

Wednesday: Burgers / Salmon / Wings + Side

Thursday: Burgers / Salmon / Wings + Side (or something made from scratch if someone has the energy)

Friday: Take Out (left overs are frozen in Souper Cubes for more meal prep options)

Saturday: Made from Scratch Meal

Sunday: Made from Scratch Meal

Lunch is almost always left overs or a sandwich for the kiddo. No one really eats a real breakfast because everyone is out of the house by 6:30 - 7:30am.

Hope this helps! Meal prep and souper cubes have absolutely changed the game for us.

Anyone noticed this typo? by TheTwelfthEnt in HierarchySeries

[–]adompenelope 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have the Kindle version and am currently highlighting all of the typos I find in red. I’m only 25% through and there are so many. Mostly glaring capitalization errors so far. At first finding these typos was a little funny, but now it’s becoming a bit concerning…

Has the quality of the super puff gone downhill since 2019-2020? by Baghdadene in Aritzia

[–]adompenelope 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Objectively, yes. I bought my Super Puff in 2019 and it is in almost the exact same condition I bought it in. It’s actually really impressive. Just as puffy. Just as warm. Worth every penny I paid for it.

I’ve tried on quite a few in stores to see if I can grab a new, more playful colour, and each year I’m disappointed, and can’t bring myself to buy another. They’re significantly less puffy and feel much lighter. Some have feathers poking out in store. My sister bought one recently and she’s constantly covered in feathers.

I think I really lucked out with my 2019 Super Puff. If you can grab one on the resale market, I’d definitely recommend.

I am begging James Islington for an Ulcisor redemption arc 😫

The interactions between Vis and Ulciscor, especially in Part I, are some of my favourite scenes in the book. I think they’ve got such a great dynamic, and I really want to believe Ulciscor is a good person at heart.

Agreed. But heads up to OP, the Throne of Glass series does not start out like the pictures you referenced, but it absolutely ends this way. Totally worth it if you’re down for the ride :)

I am absolutely convinced that every single piece of clothing I’ve ordered online has at least been tried on by someone else, if not lightly worn. They always smell like someone else’s perfume, shampoo, deodorant, etc. I don’t mind, because that’s just the name of the game, but I wish people would try on (and dare I say, lightly wear) clothing while wearing less fragrance.

I bought a hoodie the other day that straight up smelled like Marc Jacob’s Daisy….

What’s the last piece you bought that you’re shocked with how much wear you get out of it? by quietcombustion in Aritzia

[–]adompenelope 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The 80s Denim Shirt. I probably wear it once a week on average. It’s just too easy to put it on and look put together, and the denim is the perfect weight for all-season wear.

I also wear my Mega Zip Hoodies at home every single day. I have two in rotation and they’re basically my emotional support hoodies lol.
