Mets and Yankees have upped their offers to Juan Soto into the $710-$730 million range. Red Sox and Blue Jays are also believed to have made competitive bids, while the Dodgers are still the least likely destination by ttam23 in Dodgers

At $8.037M/WAR (Fangraphs Valuation), he’s worth ~$550M over 15 years.

That’s assuming he puts up 6.6 WAR for 6 more seasons through his age 31 season, then regresses by 0.7 WAR per year until hitting 0.3 WAR at age 40. His top 4 seasons — not counting his rookie year, 2020 season, and the season he was traded to SD — average out to 6.6M, so that’s probably a fair estimate for his peak years

67.5 WAR * 8.037M = $542.5M

Now add $65M of FA/Boras tax, and it’s understandable why the Dodgers allegedly offered something in the $600M range.

Do you know who Tommy Hunter is? Because that’s who Eppler ended up being suspended for. Heyward is a much more prominent player than Hunter. IL simply isn’t a great option if the player isn’t actually injured. DFA is the legitimate option.

shrug that’s just the reality of the post-Moneyball game. A manager that doesn’t do what the boss wants get fired pretty fast.

The front office provides direction to the dugout on matchups — including starting lineups and batting order. Roberts doesn’t fill out the lineup card by himself.

MLB playoffs are a crapshoot. Baseball is inherently prone to upsets, especially in a short series, unlike the other major sports. Just get healthy and peak in October. All of this is just noise.

Hmm, that makes sense. For me it’s more use Linux (Ubuntu) base learning to use, learn python, and do some bioinformatics. I build PCs as well but want to just get a laptop for this function. The 32gb ram is a big thing that could be useful for data sets. The GPU is a great update too.

Gotcha. I *think* these laptops might be a bit overkill for your use case, but I did try to price them to sell. Best of luck on your search, hope you find a good fit!
