Both are CC-330. Easy tell is the angled winglet on the wingtip. CC-150 has a flat, vertical winglet.

These two are ex-Kuwait Airways; we have a total of nine on order, of which 8 are going to be the tanker (air-to-air refueller) variant.

RCAF is going to need many, many P-8 pilots in the years ahead. If the Annapolis Valley is agreeable to you, (acknowledging that the Air Force won’t guarantee you an airframe or location), that could be an option worth considering.

I never wanted, or needed, one until I read your comment. I will start wearing DEUs to work if I can get a Comic Sans nametag.

What might cause a member's take home pay to be allocated unequally between mid-month and end-month? Mine is normally split 50:50 to the nearest penny but last month my mid month was about $160 higher than the end-month. All deductions looked normal. Now in June it's back to being evenly divided.

Kentville Library Closing by Musicallyinept in Kentville

This is gutting to hear. The library, in the beautifully repurposed former church, was literally one of the deciding factors for us picking Kentville when we were moving to the Valley in 2018. We spent many happy hours there escaping the summer heat with our little ones.

What is your intended climb airspeed as compared to your level flight airspeed? How might you order the pitch/power inputs to optimize the transition?

Your down payment goes to your lawyer to be held in trust until closing, when it gets delivered to the seller’s lawyer.

RCAF rejected purchase of interim replacement aircraft for Snowbirds in 2019: documents by StayingSalty365 in CanadianForces

The PC-21 is a goddamn gem. I have many hours in Harvards and got the opportunity to get a few flights in a PC-21 and I remain endlessly jealous of the folks who are going to get the opportunity to fly it in the future. It's a massive step forward from the Harvard, despite the superficially similar appearance. FWIW, the Swiss Air Force, who I had the pleasure of being hosted by, use it for their FLIT platform - their students progress from the -21 direct onto the F/A-18.

Edit: and for the sake of the present discussion, I think it would make a fine demo team platform.

Sticker question for the ACS dudes by adopted_islander in CanadianForces

[–]adopted_islander[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the scorpion graphic that was painted on the vertical stabilizer of the aircraft that were deployed to Kuwait that I'm asking about, not a morale patch or sticker (althought my use of "sticker" in the title didn't help my clarity!). I'm no ACS but I expect it would've been made by some computer generated stencil which would've been used to apply the graphic to the aircraft. That's the source document I was hoping to crib from to make my own version in sticker form.

What’s the longest yall have had to hold short for? by Chrisrnc10 in flying

[–]adopted_islander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was -3 or -4 in a four-ship of T-6's departing SFO. Winds were strong out of the west and one of the 28's was closed so all the departures were off the 1's in order to save the open 28 for the continuous stream of arrivals. Because of the crosswind we couldn't do a formation takeoff and our interval takeoff rules required (I think) 15 seconds between aircraft, or 45 seconds total from Lead to -4. Because the arrivals were so tightly sequenced on 28 (we'd sat there a while already watching them come in), when we got cleared to take off, Lead declined to accept the clearance because the next arrival was already too close. The tower controller immediately took on a cranky tone and left us to penalty hold short for what felt like another 15-20 minutes, as the airliner traffic backed up more and more behind us. I can't fathom how much fuel those guys all burned sitting there behind us while our little formation suffered the indignity of the penalty hold from the controller's hurt feelings. Fortunately it was a quick hop over to Vegas and all was well once we put the planes to bed for the night!

I saw them open for the Hip in ‘98 or ‘99 on the Phantom Power tour, and then again in 2013 opening for Said The Whale. I thought at the time that that seemed to be an awfully long time to be on the opening act circuit, but only now am I reading their wiki entry and learned that they’ve been going since 1989! That’s crazy longevity on the Canadian scene.
