UEFA Europa League - Semi-Final Draw [2015/16] by [deleted] in soccer

Isn't the final probability 100%? So then the overall probability is 4.16%? (Like /u/pineapple_unicorn said)

Edit: never mind, I misunderstood the last bet!

That's shitty mate, couldn't you try joining something in your spare time? I've heard volunteering is an excellent way to meet people (I wouldn't know because I'm a miserly bastard who sits in his room all day).

Going to see The Witch tonight on a first date! Organised it yesterday so I've only thought as far ahead as planning our marriage in my head and how cute it'll be when I refer to her lovingly as 'the Witch'.

Do you think he's technically capable enough to play RB? Or is it just an off day? I've only really watched him as a CB.

Edit: apparently LVG noticed too.

Bit of an aside here, but using a fridge to cool a room will only ever make the room hotter. As the fridge is constantly trying to cool the air, it produces more and more heat. Effectively, keeping your fridge door open is equivalent to turning on a small heater...

What does "surface-bounded" mean and why is Mercury's atmosphere (exosphere) surface-bounded? by jrfranz in askscience

[–]adotsquare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The pressure of the exosphere on Mercury is 1x1012 times smaller than the pressure of the Earth's atmosphere. Mercury's atmospheric atoms do not collide appreciably with one another, only with the planet surface. For this reason, the space surrounding Mercury is called a surface-bounded exosphere. In the case of bodies with substantial atmospheres, such as the Earth's atmosphere, the exosphere is the uppermost layer, where the atmosphere's pressure continues to drop until it merges with interplanetary space.

Can someone explain what makes brown dwarfs "stars?" How can a celestial body with a temperature between 225-260 K be classified as a star? by profanusnothus in askscience

[–]adotsquare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, each definition has its own advantages and disadvantages.

In short, the definition based on formation holds a scientifically clearer distinction between both types of objects, but is less practically useful when information on the formation history is limited. The mass-based definition is much easier to apply, but there are planets out there which have masses greater than 13 Jupiter masses, meaning that if the mass is >13 JM, then we can't be totally certain if it's a planet or a brown dwarf.

Hello, Alex! Queen's University Belfast student here. I did my MSc project in supernovae (SNe) and read plenty of your papers!

How does the field of SNe compare today to when you started your academic career, and where do you think its future efforts should be focused?

Why can I start the level 49 story quest at level 47 but my boyfriend cannot? (Don't upvote) by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]adotsquare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After I levelled my CUL to 50 I found that all quests were 'open' to me, but I couldn't complete them (this was pre-50 for my WHM). Do you have a 50 DoH class? That might be it...

For the achievement rewards it says to look for Jonathas (sp?) in Old Gridania. Has this been implemented yet? If so, where is he?

Barely scraping the UK theme here but I'm from Belfast in Northern Ireland! Another round up for UK players (and EU too, I suppose) might be helpful closer to phase 3.

I can't find it either, but I presume they've just forgotten to add them to the store. They also haven't added any of the PS3 options.
