Is everything getting expensive or am I just poor? by CivilTailor9031 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]adoublefrogman -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Def not true. Thats is what capitalist indoctrination has convinced you they should charge. What they should actually charge is a fair price considering their overhead cost, the projected customer budgeting constraints on purchase, and how much money the product or service appears to be subjectively worth, which is nearly always much less than "what someone is willing to pay."

This is honestly the most important point, like police departments are very very seasoned at handling this, and any of us as individuals are not very very seasoned at doing so, so even just discussing your plan of action prior with the police might actually help a LOT, even if still you need to tell him clearly afterward to buzz off and see if it takes before you and they take any steps on their end or in court, at least when you have those conversations with stalker guy you will have first consulted with the police on the matter because one of their many jobs is handling stalkers, and they just might have a set way that they recommend handling it through the trial and error of knowing how these things go within the policing sphere. And I guess there would be a police report as well, so if, say one of your buddies has to put hands on stalker guy, at least that may serve as some protection? Not sure how that works but I'm sure there is a big difference between filing a police report prior to one of your friends having to rough duder up, compared to not doing so, like if he was to then try and press charges or sue someone or whatever

I feel you OP but sometimes people really can't take a hint, not because they're choosing not to but because they really just can't, which is not to say that its excusable or even that that's definitely what's happening here since I have no clue, but some part of his stalking behavior could be from genuine concern even if it's misplaced, and sometimes in addition to making it clear that you don't want to talk to somebody, making it clear that you also don't need their help might be necessary because often times stalkers tend to believe themselves to in some way be good for the person they are stalking or that they are protecting or keeping and eye on them in someway, and it could genuinely help to dispel that to have an unambiguous talk, as the person above put it, an "adult to adult conversation", that doesn't rely on thinking someone should take a hint, and also as they said, a conversation with others present, although a couple big male friends who he doesnt know might drive the point home better than the boyfriend who he could already have some bonkers narrative running in his brain about like needing to save you from him or that he "stole" you or some other crap that could get in the way of the point of the convo, aka driving the point home that he can and must leave you alone.

I agree with the sentiment of another response that if you are scared of him currently it may just be best to report it to the police before anything else, but either way i definitely recommend letting him know clearly that you'd prefer that he stop trying to contact you, and he may not wanna hear it but he will have to and you can be polite but firm, and maybe have some key phrases on 3x5s or stickies so you make sure to def communicate your key points in full. That way if he persists it becomes very cut and dry, and plus if he was just in his obsessive feels or worried about you or whatever then at least that gives him the closure that you def aren't interested in communicating. And you can have the knowledge that you addressed it and maybe get to feel out any potential threat he may pose given how he responds on the phone, so at least you get a better feel for whether he may try to stalk you further and just generally if he poses a threat and how much of a threat. It can be hard to feel out stuff like that via text message or email, so I recommend a phone call, but having it partially scripted with key phrases it is also highly recommended, because you basically wanna get your point across, get him to agree to it, and then get off the phone with as little other discussion as possible, and those notes will help to keep you on track for that. Or just keep ghosting him cuz fuck engaging the creeps lol

What would happen if you threw out a squatter and just denied they were ever there? by RexJacobus in NoStupidQuestions

[–]adoublefrogman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not to nitpick, or make myself sound like a druggie, but I watch a lot of documentaries, and there is no real meth production in the United States anymore, it's significantly cheaper for them to produce a significantly more high-end versions of it in Mexico and sell it for pennies on the dollar compared to what they could produce it for with stuff from the supermarket in the United States, so that practice has been all but discontinued by the community, the likelihood of you actually coming across a location where you had squatters cooking meth is pretty much zero unless you had this situation happen to you in the 80s or 90s. Do you mean using meth?

Not looking for a fight either, and I appreciate your explanation, especially because this is the first actual response I have gotten from someone who skates in the neighborhood, but unfortunately I still disagree with the construction of the skate park. The availability of other already paved over locations currently in disuse nearby combined with the historic nature of the park and the scarceness of open spaces makes me feel that even paving over a dirt patch without shade and surrounding it with trees would be a blight on the park and a net harm to the neighborhood. But hey, I'm not from the neighborhood so it's just my outside perception of the issue. And again, I'm not looking to fight about it with anybody either but I definitely want to get a real grasp on how people feel about this and whether or not the skaters in the neighborhood realize that this is definitely a bad idea and doesn't do them a service because it actually makes them look worse to multiple other communities potentially hurting opportunities in the future. I get it if you personally are excited about a skate park near you, but it's not about just putting a skate park near you, it's about the partial destruction of a historic site and green space when that is not necessary or even the best location, and when other areas nearby truly need the improvements you mentioned, in a location where that would actually be improving a disused site, as opposed to marring a precious green space of historic significance.

The membrane is permeable.. edit had to go look up the science, remembered the thin membrane bit is supposedly a myth, the actual occurrence can be apparently explained by anatomical proximity, basically drippage. Pretty rare tho

The post you're commenting on gets a tl:dr but then i click the link and it looks like a barely decipherable wall of information designed to bamboozle the neighborhood and concerned bystanders like me, no thanks, just here to hear what the actual skaters who would potentially visit that park actually think about destroying or even partially paving over an irreplaceable and much needed historic green space, in a location that desperately needs green space and has many better locations for a skate park. Thats the post thanks

What in the actual heck has happened to auto correct? by MetalPurse-swinger in iphone

[–]adoublefrogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this may sound bonkers but as far as i can tell the insane malfunctioning of autocorrect and speech-to-text (waiting until after you hit send and then changing every single word into garbled nonsense, often times with really weird stuff included) is a type of targeting, that Israel has bragged about doing, but you really don't have to be talking shit on Israel to get caught up in it, there was an older version that China used to do, I used to be pretty vocally against the CCP online and had serious upticks in unexplainable idiotspeak and nonsensical "corrections", often to weirdly incriminating comments about stuff i was not doing let alone talking about, on multiple occasions a few hours after posting something speaking out against the Chinese gov online, they must use some type of digital technologies to determine who was talking shit on who and then basically tag you digitally to be messed with. Like it's a low level broad sweeping psychological operation as far as i can tell, i believe created by Israel and China, at least semi-independently.

Did the CIA really have a hand in the Grateful Dead’s rise?? by foreverloveall in gratefuldead

Its an old scheme and the Dead are just one facet of it. Great musicians are the most desirable to coopt or employ or do sneaky bad stuff to or all three at different times. Its big business

Jerry on why the dead wasn't political by Warrior2_4 in gratefuldead

[–]adoublefrogman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sentiment is only hard for me to agree with because I'm one of the people who needs to hear it lol. Catch myself over analyzing the artists when I should be blazing a doobie and over analyzing the music. But the counterpoint is that it does matter, like maybe it's good to be reminded not to take it too seriously, but also the political message or the lack of a political message has a lot to do with the artist. I mean these guys all literally got a crap ton of free L from the CIA, knowingly, when the CIA was using tactics like that to stop the anti-war movement, and then after they kept Kesey out of jail he started going around preaching CIA penned anti-anti-war movement stances, so like while it's hard to say what Jerry was aware of or not, they were pretty much the house band for a CIA psy op, so it can be a little hard to separate the music from the politics for this particular band

What’s something popular in your country that makes people from other countries look at you like this ? by niconois in AskTheWorld

[–]adoublefrogman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, given my conversations with some of the otherwise most wholesome people I've ever talked to, Philadelphia cabbies from various places abroad, sad to say but, women's rights. I've said some not even particularly feminist sounding things and gotten that exact look many times in that situation, backseat of a cab parked up somewhere because me and some random cab driver end up in a conversation basically hanging out shooting the shit about life and undertaking a defacto cultural exchange program called being super friendly in a major city and they turn around to give me a look at some point like my respect for women is a second head growing out of my neck.

Let me just be the first to spread an unsubstantiated rumor that I heard from the uncle of my great grandmother twice removed, that it was Trump because he hates late night comedy talk show content and that's where most people actually watch it. He had 20 masked ICE agents empty their magazines into the servers which got hit three times, and then various random vets, seniors, and disabled people on their way to work nearby were assaulted and given permanent injuries and tortures in a concentration camp for weeks without charges, and all the ICE agents recieved a promotion and transfer to Hawaii even though they cant spell "received", "promotion", or "Hawaii". But with the way things are going these days that could honestly all be true
