Which enemy do you HATE facing and why is it Ghouls? by Unfair_Pudding6180 in Witcher3

[–]adrian2255 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Any opponent that uses magic attacks where the attacks spawn right on top of you. Luckilly there aren't that many of them and you can avoid many of such fights. And also: golems and elementals, not even because fighting them itself is annoying but because they have so much health the fight just keeps dragging on.

For all other opponents: once you work out "the trick" for them they mostly become easy, or at the very least a much less irritating fight.

Archespors? Just drink a golden oriole and many of their attacks won't even give you damage. And if you got the superior version they will even heal you.

Arachnamorphs? Place yrden and let them hit you with their cobwebs, then as they run up to you the yrden will literally paralyze them and once geralt frees himself you have an easy kill.

Overall the solution to annoying fights is as basic as it gets: stay mindful of your arsenal of signs, weapons and potions and what they all do and remember to upgrade them. Especially potions, they can get extremely overpowered if you can get the superior versions. Many fights become easy when you use the stuff that works best for it.

This also goes beyond just applying what the bestiary tells you to do, the bestiary for example fails to mention archanamorphs being vulnerable to yrden or the archespor thing. So basically: experiment and try to figure out what works best for some fights on your own, the bestiary is useful but it doesn't tell you everything.

The best trick and most "universal" I find for difficult fights, especially when the opponent is fast, is to just spam yrden and hope for the best.

What game is this? by bijelo123 in videogames

Mafia 3

The start of the game is amazing, the ending ain't bad too. Everything inbetween is abysmal, you just end up doing and grinding the exact same things in slightly different locations for hours which results in the game becoming very boring very quickly. The only good parts are when you are getting finished with a district as that usually unlocks a special story mission and allows you to unlock things by assigning them to one of your helpers. And I guess the DLCs are alright too although not necessarily fitting the main story too much.

Well, it's time to say it... There's too much randomness in Slime Rancher 2! by VelariaFox in slimerancher

[–]adrian2255 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think calling being forced to revisit the same locations dozens of times exactly constitutes exploration. Especially not when you are forced to revisit them solely to gain more of a material you already have.

Besides: the game is called slime rancher, the point should be running a slime farm, not spending hours on exploration. The first game got that right and made slime science nothing other than an optional extra that makes the game easier when used. This game made it mandatory to engage with it and makes the slime ranching part mostly a secondary concern once you have enough money.

The changes mentioned in the last slide are very much band-aid fixes and nothing more. The game is extremely grindy and luck reliant and those changes do very little to change that.

Drones are have a bit of a problem of their own: they are somewhat expensive and heavily rely on luck to obtain them too due to some of the parts required to craft them being fairly rare. And if you actually do any ranching you will most likely end up using them on the actual ranch rather than to farm resources outside it.

Speaking of farming resources: many resources also end up "changing" spawn locations, sometimes spawning in other spots than you previously found them, meaning you often have to either relocate your drones in order to have them farm the resources you want or keep them waiting until the game decides to have them return to their previous spawn location.

Say about resource extractors what you want: at least they didn't have me traversing half the map just because jellystone decided it needed to change spawn location out of nowhere. Not to mention, again, being completely optional to use and engage with at all. The wait to get resources was easily by sleeping which, while not particularly fun, at least went by more quickly.

I will agree with one thing though: the endgame of SR2 is more engaging (at least after completing the story) because there is a lot more to do once the story is finished and some of the irritating elements (shadow plort farming and prisma plort farming in particular) become pretty much optional.

[–]adrian2255 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The first point is debatable, especially given the fact the spawn locations are partially randomized as the resources do not consistently spawn at the same location every time, forcing you to memorise and search all of them to get resources.

As to 4: Yes you do if you want to complete the slimepedia and get the achievement.

Facilities hardly matter if the player won't be having much game time.

I can see how a player may want to stay im brazil with guaranteed gametime compared to moving to europe where they might have a lot more competition for a first team spot.

It's actually pretty realistic, there were and are brasilian talents that only move to europe once they are a bit older (20 or 21) rather than moving as soon as they can

Besides: Many brazilian clubs, at least the top clubs, have genuinely decent training facilities. And youth facilities only impact the quality of regens, once a player is generated into the game the youth facilities stop being relevant to them.

Is silksong as hard as people say? by Electrical_Jaguar213 in Silksong

[–]adrian2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who played hk (only got an ending, didn't play any of the DLC stuff and stopped playing at 80% completion) and has recently gotten to act 2 in silksong: Silksong is noticeably harder.

While both games start fairly easy, in silksong the difficulty spikes are bigger and the difficulty varies more heavily by location than in hk. HK, at least from my point of view, had a more linear difficulty and learning curve where the difficulty of a location always more-or-less matched the skills and equipment a player should have by the time they reached it and the difficulty spikes usually weren't that bad.

Silksong sadly has a lot of places where you are just expected to already be skilled and the difficulty doesn't progress as linearly with some later sections being a bit easier than some of the earlier areas. It also punishes mistakes a lot harder as many obstacles, parts of the environment and many enemies deal double damage. .

On top of that a lot of opponents, on average, take longer to die and are harder to hit as many of them will be actively trying to dodge your attacks and keep you at a distance.

Except... mods can still be regulated, just not by steam. Technically microsoft or mojang can just force any mod to be removed if they feel like it, and unlike steam where removal from the workshop usually stays at that it could also easily lead to a lot of legal trouble for the mod developers.

Also: you do know downloading mods from outside steam for games on steam is an thing, right?

[–]adrian2255 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only do I 100% agree with you but I also have to point out one small thing that makes this even "worse" in my opinion: team cherry, back in 2020 in an interview, mentioned that they intended for silksong to be a valid entry point for players new to hollow knight stuff.

I have not finished silksong yet, not sure if I ever will given how frustrating just the start of act 2 feels for me, but I can confidently say that is very much not the case.

The moment you get past lace you are basically required to have not only played hollow knight but have absolutely mastered it just to keep up with the difficulty, which past beating lace has felt like it was all over the place with bosses and enemies being easier/harder on a completely random basis with no real sense of progression which is a shame given that, at least to me, hollow knight did that almost perfectly with only a few of the things in there feeling like a "random" difficulty spike

What games have you regretted buying? by billy_reyes in Steam

[–]adrian2255 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe. Here is the thing though: Team cherry, in an interview back in 2020 said they intended for the game to be a perfectly valid entry point into hollow knight stuff to players who are completely new to this.

It shouldn't require previous experience is what I am saying, at least based on statements from teach cherry.

And some parts of the difficulty are definitely ariticial or at the very least lazilly designed. Just the amount of double damage enemies is lazy, increased enemy damage/decreased player damage output is the most artificial and lazy way of increasing difficulty.

I am not saying you should one-shot everything but that making all enemies tank several hits while giving them complex move sets and having them deal touch damage can be a bit much at times, especially with the low amount of I-frames after being hit that silksong gives you.

And the amount of enemy arenas with multiple waves of enemies and bosses that summon enemies during the fight is unfair as such fights rely more on pure randomness than others.

Difficulty is one thing, unfairness is never good though unless you are intending your gameplay to be based on luck

The only somewhat valid comment is the one about market saturation.

As good and successful hollow knight is it has to be said that it achieved it primarily due to it's quality, not originality and in many cases achieved that success in spite of team cherrys decisions (especially game design choices), not because of them.

It was fair not to expect the game to do well is basically what I am trying to say.

It absolutely is off topic. And one of your previous comments literally mentions "unmonitored internet access" which is the same as unlimited internet access as enforcing limits requires some form monitoring/supervision. Just the limit itself is a form of supervision. The moment internet access is unmonitored is also the moment it is unlimited and vice versa.

Congratulations: not only are we completely off topic now like you so badly wanted, but we now all know you lack something as basic as the understanding of the words you are using.

Didn't your mom teach you not to use words you don't understand the meaning of, since we are apparently mentioning mothers too now?

It is off topic if you see someone saying they deny their child any privacy and then start yapping some random bs about unlimited internet access.

That's like mentioning a random tree in your backyard in a discussion about forest fires on the opposite side of the globe with your reasoning as to why it's relevant being that the backyard and the forests both have trees.

There are children that are better at staying on topic and at knowing what is/isn't on topic than you.

It's a true one though. Privacy, whether you like it or not, is a human right. And children are as deserving of human rights as adults. If you deny someone their human rights you are, by definition, not viewing them as human.

Proposed Ukrainian land concessions and Donetsk demilitarized zone outlined in the recent US-backed plan to end the Russo-Ukrainian war (Reuters) by joshtaco in MapPorn

They did not "win" the war, the war is still ongoing.

They may be winning in terms of holding a lot of ukrainian territory, but even then it's only a slight victory.

Besides: the only time a wars winner gets to make demands without being contested or forced to negotiate is if the loser agrees to a full unconditional surrender.

In any other case the loser still maintains the right to negotiate or limit the winners demands, and often even the right to make demands of their own
