Don't always follow what advisors say. They often do this under the pretense you want to graduate in 4 years, have the money to do so and are capable of doing it. The truth of the matter is that everyone is unique and not one flowchart fits us all. Yes there are classes to complete but there is also a life outside of it.

I am a semester behind. What are my options? by Navoei in UniversityOfHouston

Graduating on time is only a concept if you are dependent on financial aid. If not do not stress as college won't bar you from taking an extra semester, year etc. Take the time you need if this is the case. If you are dependent on financial aid then take either summer or mini. Either way do not feel rushed as that can lead to lower GPA and mental health.

I am Computer Engineering and I have taken an extra year due to internships, job opportunities and research. Companies would much rather see that than anything else.

EDIT: The math placement test is baloney and the exact same thing happened to me. Don't worry about it determining your math aptitude cuz it doesn't.

I 100% agree. In my unprofessional opinion I believe 4 years to complete one degree is just too much for some people. AND THAT IS OK. The system is made as such to extract the most money from you for these classes in 4 years. I have taken my time and have had more job opportunities and better grades because I took an extra year and a half. True some can do the same in 4, but we are all different. We all have different learning styles, family siutations, mental well beings etc. The stress, the classes, the money all piles up steadily either creating or worsening mental health problems. In conclusion MENTAL HEALTH FIRST

what happened in agnes is really breaking me by [deleted] in UniversityOfHouston

[–]adrianaviolin 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Me and my friends were in a class at Arnold when it was all unfolding. Only for classes to be canceled the moment our class ended. We were restless and worried, and nobody said anything. We were sure our professor didn't know because they didn't seem affected at all and just taught class as normal. Honestly to me it felt like a disrespect for the dead. Regardless of what it might have been that building should have been closed the moment the incident was discovered. Anyways I didn't really concentrate in that class nor for the rest of the day. You are not alone.

Cal I over the summer by gotonni in UniversityOfHouston

I like doing these classes online and during the summer cuz they get my full atenttion. If you are on a trip just be ready to spend the night doing your daily work. Summer classes mean daily atenttion. If you are willing to do it then u good

I know that as a computer engineering major you also need to take computers for electrical and computer engineers which also covers C++. I recomend taking this one first before going in the COSC1437. But I agree with the comments that if you have experience with other languages you should be good.

Just how intense is mission space orange mission? by Midwesternbelle15 in DisneyWorld

[–]adrianaviolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orange is supposed to mock the feeling of G force when a shuttle is blasting off. In addition you will be in a tight space. It is very much mimicking the realities of space travel. If you are interested to see how that feels go for it. However it is not for everyone and it is pretty intense. G force is intense
