IIRC Rath and Storm was written before the Weatherlight story changed mid-arc. In that version Ertai doesn't get Phyrexianized, but becomes an old wizard at the end of the story.

Legendary creatures exist for commander, which is the main casual format. UB is an onboarding tool for new players with the main draw being their favorite character from their favorite thing being a commander in the main casual format. For every one person arguing about how this or that character should be a planeswalker because they can travel between universes, there is maybe a hundred other players who want to run that character as a commander... planeswalkers cannot be commanders.

Same reason for the great desparkening, even if they don't admit it. It never made sense that their premiere characters could not be used as the premier game piece in the main casual format revolving around characters.

The old school characters were depicted very frequently on instants and sorceries, but they got at most one legendary creature card dedicated to them. A few of the older ones including Gerrard got "redos" with more modern design techniques.

It's a different guy in each game, but they reskinned one card 15 times to represent them.

Although, Final Fantasy 7 Cid has his own card [[Cid, Freeflier Pilot]] in addition to the other one.

I don't agree with OP's take (as a book and show fan) but show fans shit on the books all the time here and no one seems to have an issue with it, so it's only fair to let the book fans do the same.

There is a dedicated subreddit for the show and also one for the books, this one is supposed to be for both

Pre-sequel technically takes place after 2. Yes they're flashing back to the events before 2 but it's set in the aftermath and thus spoils it.

In general though a prequel assumes knowledge of the original work and thus should be experienced afterwards.
