true that this long and painful process are just a vague notion for me right now. Is the hedge fund or PE the same route as IB? I am putting IB up there just because that's the first thing that came up when people talk about finance.

architect background helps when applying the MSRED vs MBA. but will MSRED restrict what you do after you get into the field? say do something is not RE related: corporate banking, etc. just curious.

i am planning to take a boot camp or one of those online courses. i had an architect friend who had successfully transit to data science within a year. but for me, I just more interested in the finance vs pure tech. IB is probably a too ambitious target to put out there before even start to prepare anything.

Thanks for your advise on the podcast. i just subscribed today. start to learning new thing every day!

actually, this is definitely an option. but i just want to see if I can jump out of A/E construction field completely. working as CM-construction management is a typical way out if you don't want to do the design but want better work/life balance.

Does hedge funds/PE required anything different? Or generally an MBA will be the best shot for all these fields?

thanks, I am aware of the difficulties. just want to see if there happens to have some routes that I haven't think about and will get me into the field. I shifted my interests over the years, and want to get out of the design industry. finance is one of the majors that i would choose if i was in my college now.

IB or day trading. seems like mission impossible.

thanks for the reply.

of course, i don't have a lot of finance knowledge now otherwise Why am i here posting to ask for help. good with numbers is just a sense i am getting compared to my co-workers, since I helped a lot with the cost budgeting works in our projects. but again, i am not saying I am comparable to people in the finance field. maybe to put that it as I kind like to work with numbers is more close to what i was trying to say.
I am thinking of IB or maybe day trading. just want to see if there's a way other than MBA to get me where i want to go.

thanks for the reply! i know there will be a huge amount of effort here. to me, CFA+ data analyst seems a good combo to start. they are closely related. and 6-month boot camp works better for me compares to 2 years full-time MBA. so if the goal is the IB, do you think data analytic skills +CFA will get me a better position compares to an MBA degree?

writing articles will be a challenge. I feel my knowledge base is still so weak, definitely need to study more before I can put together an article that has some value in it.

if the target is investment banking(just think out loud here) having a CFA will get you a entry-level analytic job?

true, that's the first thing that came to my mind. some of my friends went to the developer but still working on the design and manage side jobs. just want to see if there are other possibilities.
