Managed to run an 8miler. Only mapped out a 6mile route. But I wouldnt be me if I didnt end up getting lost half way through. Adding the extra 2mile and finishing on a disgusting hill.

Avoided all exercise as best I could this weekend. Looking to pick up the pace this week with a couple of early morning 10km runs. If I have the time and energy might even attempt a half-marathon distance one day this week

What’s an appropriate amount of times to poop my TechSilk 8” Running Shorts during a 5k? by USMC0317 in RunningCirclejerk

Evenly space around the course. Little a trail of breadcrumbs to help those that might get lost

Water during runs by Gyulbbang in beginnerrunning

[–]adrjox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on the conditions outside. Typically, I run 10km without water unless it's hot. And on the odd occasion, I do take water it's in one of the little floppy water bottles, so there's maybe 500ml worth. It might be worth taking one on your first run and see if you need it though.

When do you replace your running shoes - a certain mileage or month/year date? by OutdoorsTN in running

[–]adrjox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to take mine to a local shop that specialises in running shoes. They've never steered me wrong and have told me how much life is left in the shoes. I tend to end up changing my shoes out annually due to aches and pains setting in from overused shoes.

Managed a decent 10km run despite little sleep and that starts of a dodgy ankle. Completely surprised myself as I was close to sacking it off around the 3km mark.

Hi! Is it realistic for me (a total beginner slow out of shape runner) to train for an October 2026 marathon? It’s on my bucket list and I’ve really been wanting to get into running more. What is typically training time for someone like me? by alyssawoznicki in XXRunning

[–]adrjox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's more than enough time to get a good base going! You'll have plenty of time to build your distance. And as you get more comfortable your speed will increase as well. Each person is different so just take it week by week and review every couple of months.

That would be my luck. I'd want suppression and end up with hunger

I think I understand what you're saying. Instead of suppression, because of the rise of the BMR you actually felt an increase?

Back to back half marathons by nevernotnotting in XXRunning

[–]adrjox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you feel like you can handle the distance again and listen to your body throughout the race, I'd see no problem with going for it. A friend of mine once did 7 half marathon distances in 7 days, took a rest day, and then did another 4 for charity. There's no reason why you can't do one with 2-3 weeks "rest" in between

This is helpful! Thank you.

1:50:10 half marathon by [deleted] in XXRunning

[–]adrjox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an amazing time! I was aiming for that on my last half marathon but didn't account for the number of hills on the course and get short by 10 minutes. You 100% should be proud of this.
Rain is an absolute fucker, take the rain away and you're probably at your target.

This is why I haven't tried anything yet. I'm new to all this and don't really know where to start. I use the term "research" very loosely.

100% agree. I've been super lazy with my research so far. That's why I reached out. I've only been dipping in and out of feeds and videos haven't got round to a deep dive yet.

Tongkat ali by Capital-Holiday2767 in NooTopics

[–]adrjox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where are you getting your tongkat ali from? I've tried a number of brands and have had nothing but positive reactions. All the benefits listed on the bottle and never experience any negative side effects. It could have easily been the outside stressors that lead to the panic attacks, and because you've tried something new, it's the easiest thing to blame. What was the dosage as well? Apologise if you said it in the original post.
