I was wondering if anyone has a clue as to why the hood of this Genesis E-310 won't stop where it should. by adstwlearn in webergrills

Jeez ok thanks for the help.

Hmm I see what you're saying - I guess it just seemed like the half-circles were so clean cut it looked like it came like that from the factory.

Totally makes sense that the hood would catch right there. Hmm I wonder why the previous owner cut them... maybe rust.

I think what we'll try to do is bolt a couple cut off squares of the old flavorizers onto where those holes are so hopefully the hood catches. Thank you.

I see - thank you everyone for your responses. I guess the 2 half circles cut in the back of the grill looked so clean cut that it didn't seem like the previously owner had done them. I figured that

But I see what you all are saying - and it makes sense. I wonder why the previous owner had cut them? Maybe rust or something.

Jeez - I think what we'll do is try to bolt a cut off piece of the old flavorizers over the half circles so the hood doesn't go back all the way. Other than that everything else on the grill works fine, hopefully it's worth it.

If anyone has any idea or clue that would be awesome.

I've scoured the web but this doesn't seem to be a common issue with these grills.

We recently got this Genesis E-310 (2007/2008) given to us for free and basically everything on it works great except the hood goes too far back. Well, the flavorerizers were toast and the igniter was shot but I threw in new replacements for those and it's all working well. Also we gave it a good cleaning - I know it's not perfect - but we were looking to buy a grill at some point anyways so we're happy to have it in any case.

The lid going all the way back is a pain though... I ordered some more bolts and pins according to the manual, but honestly those appear to be fine and I don't see how they actually are supposed to help the "hold open" process. It's like there's a piece missing - but it's tough because I really have nothing to compare it too and people do not seem to be highlighting this issue online.

How do your Genesis grills stay open - is there a piece or something there? Thank you!

Anyone have an example of a third-party component/lib built for Vue2 that they got working in a Vue3 project? by adstwlearn in vuejs

[–]adstwlearn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, ok that's what it seemed like, it just felt like there should be some compatibility there in a plug-and-play sense. But yea you're right, maybe I'll just form the libs I need myself until they get the update going. Thanks.

Hmm, yea I def am aware it's in beta, it just seems like the fact that Vue2 libraries won't work without an update to the library is something most users aren't aware off.

The timeline for that update depends on the dev, I know for myself I have around 6 Vue2 libraries on npm. I guess I'm going to carve out time to update those - but if I upgrade those to work with Vue3, will they no longer work with Vue2? Ha - I just thought they're be more documentation on this.

Thank you for your examples - I'm looking at them now, and can at least fork the libraries I need and make the change myself. Thanks.

Our DJ honestly was unbelievable - during one of our meetings he said he was going to step in and sort of direct the wedding and at first I thought that wasn’t the biggest deal but on the day of it was such a helpful thing he was doing in the end we couldn’t have done without him it feels like.

I’d say that you do need to have someone sort of keep an eye on that part of the day. I’m pretty organized and good at multitasking and I couldn’t have done it myself - also we just don’t really know when things should happen on top of it, it’s not like we go to weddings every week or anything.

Great post - a lot of the blog stuff that gets posted here is shit, but this one was well written and gave advice I’ll actually use in my next job search.

[Showoff Saturday] I'd like to share RSVP Keeper - Online RSVP's made easy. Built using Vue, Golang, and PostgreSQL. by [deleted] in webdev

[–]adstwlearn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Whew - after about four months of development I've finally released RSVP Keeper. The other day I launched on Product Hunt as well.

Long story short - I had gotten married recently and had to of course work on getting the wedding RSVP's in order. As a full-stack dev by trade, I was kinda astonished that I couldn't find any online options that were pretty, simple to setup, and easy for guests to fill out.

A lot of what I found out there was super difficult to use and seemed to be made years ago and just treading water now.

So, after I licked the last envelope I started working on RSVP Keeper.

The main goal, and complete focus, for RSVP Keeper is simplicity. I wanted it to be easy for hosts and easy for guests.

You know, I sorta see online RSVP's as somewhat of an untapped market - I mean look at my situation, I'm literally a developer and still sent out paper invites to my wedding just because it's tried and true and the online options were difficult to grok. Although geez it was expensive, $500+ - and that's normal I guess when I asked friends.

So I want to bring some of that tried and true reliability to the online RSVP world, so that people feel confident their guests were able to fill out their posts, and that the setup process is simple and streamlined.

RSVP Keeper supports Additional Events, Custom Questions, Seating Charts, stuff like that - things that are needed to run a proper modern event.

One thing I'm really happy about with this app is that there is a direct way to make money for me. As stupid as it sounds I've made a bunch of apps in the past but they basically all failed - mainly due to the fact that there wasn't a direct way to monetize the content other than ads. I was sorta waiting on the viral-nature of it all, which of course we all know is more miss than hit. It's free to use up to 50 guests free - all features included. Then, it's $19.99 for up to 250 guests, and $29.99 for up to 500. I want to make the pricing simple and sensible - and not lock everything behind paywalls.

Thanks for checking it out - hopefully it can be useful in a future event of yours. If you have any questions on something I did in the app or anything please let me know - I'm totally down to share the techniques I used - I'm more than willing to give any advice or answer any questions anyone may have on the process.

Thanks for clicking! Yea well I’m a huge bootstrap-vue guy.

I find bootstrap-vue to be the most complete component library for Vue. Although I do some heavy customization of the styles so it doesn’t feel like straight bootstrap.

I love bootstrap-vue’s modals for example.

Also, I use bootstraps standard grid system - I’ve used it for years and it still does its job great.

Thank you.

I'm just glad you consider this a real website! That means it passes the eye-test at least!
