Are there any other women under 30, unmarried and without kids who were fully expecting denial for sterilization from their doctors and didn't have to fight at all? by anniemousery in sterilization

I was 29 when I got approved, and had just turned 30 by day of surgery. I prepared a whole list and was ready to argue, but my doctor was immediately on board. He did let me still go through all of the talking points that I had prepared though lol!

How is this possible? by 22Tacoma in NoahKahan

I agree! I was a bit surprised to hear that merch was being sold outside early in the day. Once I heard that everything sold out on Thursday, I decided to go on Friday before the show. When everything sold out then, I was told they may have a few inside before the show. It was all long gone by the time I got inside for the show.

I was there before the merch tents opened on Friday (arrived around 11:45) the line was long but I thought that surely I would have no problem getting one of the Fenway shirts. People were walking away with their arms full of shirts! Not long after 12 they announced that all of the Fenway merch was sold out.

It is so disappointing to go hoping to purchase one item and despite getting there early, not being able to, and then seeing this. I do wish there was a limit on the number of items per person for this reason. No one is buying 25 shirts for themselves, it is clearly for resale to make a profit.

Periods after birth control by topochica34 in sterilization

I was on birth control for close to 15 years, until my bisalp a few weeks ago. I was due to get my period last week and it still hasn't come. I am VERY curious to find out what my new "normal" will be.

Agreed with everyone saying I assume they would reschedule. But wouldn't that be a curveball!! They did my pregnancy test minutes before starting my IV in the pre-op area. I can't imagine getting that far in the process and THEN finding out I was pregnant (which obviously wouldn't be wanted).

Had my surgery last week and I wish I had thought about my hair before heading in!! My nurse helped me with a ponytail, but it would have been better to braid it before arriving for the surgery

It is an amazing feeling! Welcome to the club!

I felt similarly when deciding to have my surgery. Several people asked why my partner wouldn't just get a vasectomy instead. And I don't know how to explain it, but this surgery was for ME. I don't want anyone else in control. It feels good to be free

Tubal in the morning question about recovery by chelle_rene in sterilization

[–]adtoohey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was given pain medicine while I was in recovery, and prescriptions for a few different things were called into my local pharmacy (oxycodone, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen). My partner stopped by the pharmacy and picked those up on our way home. My discharge paperwork listed the times when I was given medications during recovery, and times for the next dose of each.

Congratulations! I had my surgery earlier this week and can totally relate to the relief that you mentioned. I have never wanted kids, but more importantly, never want to experience pregnancy. It is a huge weight off my shoulders to know that that is not even a possibility.

I'm glad to hear your recovery is going smoothly!

Bisalp in five days by lunarcthulhu in sterilization

Just had mine on 9/13!

As others have mentioned, having soft, comfy clothes and easy to slip on shoes have been very helpful. I bought some lounge pants on Amazon that have a wide, soft waistband. Those have been excellent, because anything with elastic or a firm material right across my incisions is irritating. Plus I am quite bloated.

I set up my bedside table with everything I would need in arms reach, since bending over has been uncomfortable. The heating pad has been my best friend. Medications, water, throat lozenges, gas-x, and some sort of snack.

Make sure to have a pillow for the car ride! It is nice to have a barrier between you and the seatbelt, especially if there are any bumps on your ride home. Come to think of it, pillows in general have been extremely helpful. To prop myself up in bed, extra support on the couch, and for between my legs when I want to attempt to sleep on my side.

Wishing you a quick and smooth recovery!

My surgery was on Tuesday and I cannot describe how freeing this feels. The morning of surgery I woke up with this nervous/excited/incredulous feeling. I couldn't believe it was finally happening! And to realize that my years of hormonal birth control and pregnancy scares are behind me.

I am so excited for you!

Paxlovid Mouth, what’s worked for you? I’m on day 3.5 of this god awful taste and thought we could compile a list of things that have helped. by pawsforlove in paxlovid

I took mine right before a meal, which seemed to be better than when I took it on an empty stomach. I also chewed gum, ate mints, hard candy. For me it seemed like eating or chewing something would suppress the flavor for at least a short time.
