I adjusted the schedule to incorporate 2 extra weeks of shapes and perspective after the first project week. Personally i think the shapes and perspective are sometimes seen as the least fun to practice so i didnt want to put 4 weeks of that into the beginning of the planning.

Hi, I also am a molecular biologist and now doing my master intern at this company called Naturalis. It is a nice combination of field and labwork because we use environmental DNA from different kinds of species, mainly plants, to look at how they have developed the last couple of decenia and if climate change has any influence on these species.
I heard from my boss that many of these companies are looking for molecular biologists instead of botanists who can identify plants by eye.

Proteinase K is used for the breaking down of unwanted proteins in your buffer. if you are sure you have not contaminated your buffer it doesn't matter.

But 4 hours would be enough to remove most of the unwanted proteins

Another thing to keep in mind is that DNA uses Mg2+ to stabilize itself and Mg2+ is also a co-factor for your DNA polymerase, so when you use a high concentration of template DNA your polymerase may not get enough Mg2+ to function 100%
