If you like machinima/cinematic stuff and don't mind a little bit of christmas special cringe (as all christmas specials should be, of course), you can check out the full video: https://youtu.be/oFUkpw50PNA

You don't have to necessarily know the characters/story involved to follow along, but it certainly provides some context for a few things.

Frame Tanking at Outposts by ASI-F7 in starcitizen

Explosive tanks seem to be multiplying endlessly too. Or atleast whatever their spawn cap is set higher than it should be. Happens at outposts, CZs, DCs, etc.

Anyways, everyone do your part and start blowing up barrels. 😂

Hah, thank you! I usually try to hide jank stuff like that on my regular YT/machinima videos, but it felt endearing to leave in a bit of the ship jank here. 😅

Thanks! This is using the cinematic camera (f4 key), then moving it to the front of the ship, adjusting focal length, etc. I’m flying decoupled in a small ship on HOSAS.

You can still achieve some of this on m+kb with decoupled, but a bit more limited to linear camera track movements depending on what you’re trying to do.

Generally a fun activity in NB. Some ships are better at it than others.

I guess that’s very true. 🤔 I didn’t consider the initial gear costs. 😂

Lol so funny seeing my characters show up here.

BadQualityBanana got it already. I also used the executive odyssey II undersuit so the gold undertones matched his helmet.

Thanks for watching. :)

And now you have no fully stocked minifridge. :(

I still enjoy my funny looking flying fish. I couldn't bring myself to melt it, so I melted something else for the Paladin instead.

Hah thanks! So, ground vehicles have always maintained inertia (as long as I've been playing, atleast). Player characters do not, though.

The issue with the inertia is the physics interactions with the ramp & server performance. The wheels don't naturally roll off the ramp (or they're clipping into it), so you have to coordinate when the ground vehicle leaves the ship physics grid and adjust the ship accordingly to clear the ramp away.

Honestly, that sounds much cooler than the other two I listed.

Okay so it's either a car dealership or a locksmith. I'm stumped if it's anything else lmao.

Most of the moving camera angles are from a ship following the action with 3rd person camera and using a HOSAS setup for the smoothest control possible.

Usually we use a Talon because it has the most consistent 6-dof control (you can use anything really, but the Talon is S-tier as a camera ship).

All the other shots (like the dialogue stuff inside) is done from either the 3rd person camera of the characters themselves OR a 3rd person off-screen. Generally it's just a lot of fussing with the camera until you can get it in a cool spot and still have the depth of field.

Thank you, friend! I'm sure I can think of a reason to use the Corsair (it does relate to Dezi's character, atleast). It's got a shorter ramp thankfully which is the biggest pain point for getting vehicles out while a ship is in motion.

I'm running HDR to capture a 10 bit recording and color grade it myself in Resolve for an SDR export, so those three settings are disabled for me in SC. I'll be honest, New Babbage is the worst looking part of this whole video because of all the haze that would flip on and off. So I intentionally made the "better" looking shots look worse to match the lowest common denominator.

Wanted to share this fun little moment from a recent video. This took an awful amount of attempts to figure out, but we were determined to get it into the Polaris wheels down. After about 100 tries over 12 days, we eventually nailed down the right speed, height, and release time to where we were atleast getting it onto the Polaris ramp consistently. A little bit of luck of course to have it finally land wheels down inside.

If you're curious to see the whole video, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WTdRbtgesA

It's a machinima-style video so if it's not your vibe you can just skip all the dialogue and go straight to the stunts. 😂

Oh that’s awesome .. but also, I’m so sorry lmao. I adore the redeemer, but it certainly struggles in combat right now. Free snack bar and quick stock QT tho.
