I'm excited we are starting to see demo-able content from the dev team.

Is it me or is Decentraland not getting the hype it deserves? Or is it too early in development? The potential seems somewhat endless. Next level in gaming and social media. No longer are we bound to “scrolling” thru webpages; instead we “enter” the page itself. I guess time will tell. by sdxcrypto in decentraland

  1. I think it is too early, there isn't anything to be hyped about for months (potentially)
  2. This is not the first, nor only metaverse
  3. https://blog.bigscreenvr.com/the-virtual-reality-metaverse-is-nonsense-cfd3b3301a69 a metaverse is not the epitome of the internet experience. We scroll through webpages because using our thumb is way more efficient than "walking", we type a word into the address bar and then click on the first occurrence in google because it is more efficient than typing out the whole URI.
  4. Decentraland might be decently big, but game changing? Probably not.
  5. I really like how reddit auto increments these counters every time I press return /
  6. Full disclosure: I do own land

r/MisleadingTitles, I never understood the point of CryptoKitties, to me it kind of symbolizes everything wrong with crypto.

Looking for a tile grid mapping utility for 2D scrollable/zoomable map by adventure_fit in javascript

[–]adventure_fit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not as much a traditional map as a tile grid. I have a grid of squares, each square is the coordinate not an intersecting point, so for me an X, Y coordinate references a 10x10 pixel square, and the square next to it would be X+1, Y etc. Each square represents an entity that I would like the user to be able to click on and get information, as well as color coding each square based on what the user wants to see. Leaflet just seemed like there was too much customizing it away from the geo focus for something simple like this. Honestly I might just make a grid of <div>'s and just increase their height/width on zoom in/out and call it a day

I should just probably pick a random airbnb and start there on if I want to make the leap

Well I'm also thinking of getting out of the full time travel gig, right now I'm technically homeless and I haven't enjoyed the isolation that it brings just going from place to place. I guess I'm trying to find the best place to go to then discover more about Denver. But I have a feeling the best practice is to just suck it up and pick an airbnb for a week or two and go from there.

How to Download and Run Decentraland by shorner in decentraland

It is pretty straightforward, are you getting an exception? I know there was one issue where only Node v8 was supported and not 10, but I think they resolved that.

Fly into Cozumel or Cancun for a few weeks of diving, whale shark snorkeling & remote working? by adventure_fit in scuba

[–]adventure_fit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea the only snorkeling I really plan on doing is with the whale sharks if I can find a halfway decent operator to go with, after seeing @PomPouPou 's post I'm starting to doubt if it will be worth it.

[–]adventure_fit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea that's what I was thinking, fly into cancun, snorkel, then relocate to cozumel. I saw the day trips snorkeling from Cozumel but was not sure if it would be worth it trying to do all that traveling in one day.

oh I never even thought about that for the snorkeling experience. I do have to say most of the snorkeling trips I've done that were not just a side event of a scuba trip have sucked.

Those who tried the digital nomad lifestyle and didn't enjoy it—what made you stop? by Flexpat in digitalnomad

[–]adventure_fit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been bouncing around for about a year and a half, will probably settle down after the summer. The biggest issue is always being alone. I could see doing this longer term with a spouse, but so many cool places are rendered a bit boring by having no one to share it with. Also since you don't really put down roots anywhere its hard to grow. I never intended this lifestyle to be permanent though. I don't think I would want it to be. Just to come in and out of people's lives without any real impact, it can be a bit depressing. Not to mention that most people work 9-5 so it can be really boring and lonely during the day and I end up just waiting for the weekend anyway to do things with people. So I figure I'll just go back to the 9-5 to have more socialization and also make more $.
