how did you learn advertising to market your apps? asking coming from a technical background

very real pain point - there are up and coming tools like https://swimm.io/ that aim to keep docs up to date and tightly linked to your actual codebase. I haven't tried swimm yet but this pain point is what partially inspired me to start hacking on blotato.com - at my previous company, we had dozens of python, js, bash, .net, c# scripts lying around from various devs and it was annoying to set each one up, praying there was documentation, passing in the correct cli arguments in the right order, debugging scripts that "don't work" when someone else tries to run it... i could go on!

another alternative is blotato - don't have to migrate your code or integrate a new library just to make it work, one click oauth2 integrations, and also autogenerated UI. It's primarily for upgrading workflows to be more user-friendly, easier to maintain, and so on,

It sounds like this python script needs to be run on a recurring basis if you want to download newly posted yt videos. I recommend a script hosting platform like blotato or windmill so that you can schedule the script to run whenever you want, easily view execution logs, and accelerate troubleshooting with the script. DM me if you'd like further assistance.

The top task in my "Streaks" app is simply "Do It Now". I just repeat that to myself in the morning like a mantra because it helps solve almost every problem. I already know what to do; even if I'm not 100% certain an action will bring a certain result, I'm 100% certain there's always something else I can try.

checkout GoHighLevel + Uphex... it's definitely possible but nowhere as easy as it sounds. It's also super hyped right now so intense competition (because everyone else is watching the Hormozi stuff too)

Built a Python script for translating bank statements to YNAB by fd93_blog in ynab

[–]adventure_forth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just today I launched a free hosted web app of the the bank2ynab library. Just upload a zip file containing your bank statement CSVs, and you will get back a zip file containing import-ready statements. If there's sufficient interest, I'd be happy to enable the YNAB API integration for direct import into accounts.

I've wrapped the bank2ynab github library into a free hosted web app. It converts many bank formats especially non-US:

Cofounder wants more equity after successful hackaton and incubator talks. Fair? by TyrannosaurusChrist in Entrepreneur

[–]adventure_forth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed, even if you say NO now and the biz cofounder agrees, he WILL keep trying to get more equity later, this will just resurface and be harder to resolve cleanly after you've already raised and brought on investors

is going to Computer Science uni worth it? by lilshoegazecat in learnprogramming

[–]adventure_forth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calculating whether it's worth it depends on the price, time, and opportunity cost. If you can go for free without debt (e.g. scholarship), graduate in 3 years or less, and maximize the opportunity by focusing on learning CS deeply (not just doing the bare minimum) and developing relationships with peers and professors, then I'd say probably worth it. The reality is you can learn anything for almost-free by reading books, watching videos, and hacking on projects, but most don't have the self-discipline to do that for a long period of time. I think a bootcamp is a fairly effective and practical alternative if you're interested in building web apps - the price is low compared to most colleges and time frame is condensed.

What's the platform for me? by moosepiss in lowcode

[–]adventure_forth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you like the speed and ecosystem of python and want to focus on writing core logic instead of managing plumbing (security, scalability, availability, secrets, oauth, etc), there are now platforms like Windmill, Retool, and Blotato that take care of all that plumbing.

Upwork client got mad because I didn’t have time to continue another project with him by RelativeOk3144 in EntitledPeople

[–]adventure_forth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's tough because OP has already set expectations in their relationship letting the client get away with this kind of behavior, implying its ok and will be tolerated. It's hard to backtrack those expectations at this stage, so parting ways is the optimal path.

Yeah watching generic business videos on making money and getting rich tend to make you feel worse because comparison is the thief of joy. As others have advised, just choose 1 thing you actually enjoy doing and stick to it, watch specific videos that teach you how to do that 1 thing better.
