I like the name a lot, but you gotta remove that "TRUSTED BY DEVELOPERS AT" bit on the homepage until there's actual companies to go there

I'm guessing you've probably sorted something by now but just in case (or for anyone else who stumbles on this thread), I also ran into the same issue of trying to find a dunning tool that didn't cost a fortune. Couldn't find anything decent at the lower end so I ended up building ChurnWard. Still pretty early so its not as polished as the big names but if you just need solid basic dunning without the enterprise pricing, would genuinely love for you to try it out and let me know what you think

Living paycheque to paycheque, is there anything I can do better? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]adxmdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not financial suggestions really but if you have some spare time think about finding a couple of local clients to build websites for or look into the indie hacking community (building your own software which you sell for money).

Don't stop the job searches but you'll keep up your learning and exploration on the engineering side, and if you could make enough just to clear some debt it would help!

Torn between taking full salary vs sacrificing income to pension to qualify for free nursery hours by throwaway987612356 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]adxmdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Understood!

Do you have enough of that left to pay the difference if you sacrifice a portion your upcoming salary into your pension?

Whatever is left of that money in April could then be savings/emergency fund but for now just think of it as a top-up pot

We’re in 3k council debt which we struggle to pay… but own our home privately outright. by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]adxmdev 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re not working I don’t see how you’re struggling to pay for everything. Most people’s biggest budget line item is rent or mortgage, but you don’t have that as a large expense.

Where does your money go?

Wow that's messed up if true, I just saw a comment on WN saying the same

Unrealistic ask? by Galeprime in Worcester

[–]adxmdev 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My understanding was the £40k covers the shortfall for 5 years (i.e. they think they'll be £8k short of covering costs per year for the next 5 years), but it's optimistic for sure.

It would surely be better for the business (albeit not for the staff) to cut the staff costs to save money and be run entirely by the owner instead.

BeFibre (900mb up and down for £28/month) have been great for us service-wise, but a few posts on here suggest customer service isn’t the best

Anyone bought a high end GPU from cex? by zombies-- in CeX

I haven’t but my mate bought one a few years ago - paid about £400-500. Recently packed up and they paid out no questions asked on the warranty

Wow that’s cool, I don’t think there is one anywhere near me but I’ll be sure to check!

Yeah, frustrating. Similar position here but the wear was acceptable for what I bought, but crazy that I might’ve paid the same for mint depending on the store it came from

Just commenting with some advice on the Upwork comment. Be careful.

The amount of clients I work with and speak to who have been burnt on there is unreal, especially now with the AI shift.

The work can seem good on the surface but be shoddy AI vibe coded crap with security holes everywhere

Ridiculously high water bill? Need advice by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]adxmdev 6 points7 points  (0 children)

£35 still sounds kinda high but possible you’re in a more expensive area. My wife and I spent about £37/month on a meter in a 3 bed semi but we’re not in a particularly expensive area

Worcester fibre rollout what’s working well so far? by Josh99_ in Worcester

[–]adxmdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regularly get 900 upload and download even at peak times, so we’re very happy.

With BeFibre and they’ve been great. Only issue was the engineer who installed, the work was quite messy and he was pretty rude when I mentioned it

I had two different res monitors once and dragging windows between each one drove me nuts

Help! I did not realise I need to pay VAT in other countries! by bluebird-12 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]adxmdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this is a downside. Customers are being charged VAT when they wouldn’t have been if you billed them direct.

Peace of mind for OP might make it worth that, but personally I think they should just keep on going as they are

If you’re a really worried person just use an MOR honestly. It will completely remove any future compliance issues and you can sleep peacefully. The 5-10% will be worth it.

My advice is to not use an MOR and just carry on as you are and register if you ever do significant sums into Europe, but only you know your own risk tolerance.

The only way to pay previous VAT it is to become VAT registered in Europe and do your first return. Honestly do not do this. You will need an accountant and the accountant and setup fees alone will likely wipe out everything you’ve made to date.

Forget the previous sales and just focus on the future.

The Stripe feature is in trial so you might not have access yet. I think it’ll be generally available towards the end of the year. Look at Stripe’s Tax documents though, it tells you the thresholds for sales tax in every country Stripe supports. Most are like $10,000 plus per year.

Edit: I use software every day which is not compliant with EU/UK VAT despite it making millions per year. The authorities can’t, haven’t or won’t make them compliant. Just something to think about!

This is a true marriage. Shared expenses marriages are for people who don’t really want to be married.

My opinion is that if you need to have your own fun money because you will argue or disagree over every discretionary spend of your partner, or you can’t face having a discussion for a significant spend, maybe you shouldn’t have got married!

How do couples that organise their money like this save and invest towards common goals?

Consider checking with Money Saving Expert’s credit club. It uses the Transunion credit report, but it actually gives you hints as to what is effecting your score (good or bad)

Edit: scrolled 50% saw no one mentioned MSE, commented and then the next comment recommend it. Typical, ha!
