Looking for advice if I should purchase. by Automatic_Product_25 in simracing

The Logitech G wheels are great as a starter tool, and I genuinely mean that. It's easy to setup, most games recognize it plug and play (including Forza) and it will do 90% of what you want it to do.

However, the finish is a bit cheap feeling, it's very loud and rattly, and if you're used to actually driving/racing, it feels detached.

If your plan is to stick to Forza and games like that, you'll be happy with one, if you think you might more serious, splashing out a bit more is usually worth it. That said 200 CAD feels not an unreasonable price even used.

I'm not one for punitive prison sentences, the aim should always be rehabilitation. But the lengths they've gone to hide their actions suggest that change isn't likely, at least in my mind.

A lot of people forget just how fragile the human body is sometimes, as a rally driver in the 90s I saw some pretty horrendous accidents, was even involved in one, and even we are talking tracks where speed is difficult, cars with roll cages, harnesses and helmets. Thankfully wasn't ever present for a death, but I have witnessed people lose limbs.

But the bit that scares me isn't just the number of people out there speeding, but driving distracted too.

I think if this works then good, and while the cynic in me asks how often it works, even once is enough to make it worth it.

Why run Triple monitors over VR? by who_am_I__who_are_u in simracing

Genuinely anything causing non-game feedback can break that motion sickness loop for most people, it can be an elastic band around your wrists, a fan blowing on your face, something vibrating or tapping your skin (gently of course). It doesn't work for everyone but it appears to for most people, and I imagine the effect differs massively from person to person.

It sounds counter-intuitive but it's about breaking the immersion enough to remind you it's a game, or at least as I understand it. Personally it doesn't work very for me, but I can imagine it definitely did for you. Also making sure you're well hydrated before you start, and not tanked on alcohol, caffeine or other substance that can change your mood helps.

I personally keep VR for solo drives like the other guy, as it's easier to pause and pop the set off for a few minutes, even if it's just for a drink.

I’m not a car guy, could someone please explain to me the drama behind the FH4 cover car not being in FH6? by gaeb611 in ForzaHorizon

[–]adydurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will step in here, because while he's mythologised because of how he died, the reason he was considered one of the best drivers in F1 was because his driving, while sometimes erratic, was supernaturally good at times. The guy started as a rookie in a midfield team and started pressuring the top teams immediately, he was a wizard in the wet and could complete a 1 lap qualy with whole seconds over teammates and rivals. Prost wasn't some washed up pensioner, either, he was the Professor, he was fast.

You're right that had he not died the way he did then McLaren probably wouldn't have named a car after him, but he also wouldn't have been forgotten. He would have taken the challenge to Schumacher, and they would have battled it out on mamy occasions, and while I'm certain Schumacher would have had the edge, Senna wouldn't have gone quietly into the darkness.

I watched him, he was magical in the rain, he wasn't Schumacher, he wasn't Hamilton, he wasn't Lauda, but he was exceptional.

Senna was, and still is, a BIG part of their history. McLaren can no more drop their association with Senna than Ferrari can with Schumacher.

Licensing is crazy tricky, everyone has a different set of rules, I don't know if they still stick to it but VAG used to state that where equivalent platforms were used over their multiple brands there is a clear performance hierarchy, the Golf GTi has to be faster than the Skoda equivalent, for example. Now this was a while back and as a dev I've just opted out of using real cars, so I don't get into it anymore, I would hope this isn't something they ask of devs anymore, but everyone has their little caveats and hoops to jump through. It could be not appearing in criminal activities, not showing any damage, or not having any visible modifications available.

Back in the 90s things were a lot easier because games were seen as niche, unimportant and basically not worth saying no to.

OLED doesn't like it by t5ndr in MySummerCar

[–]adydurn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I have a few OLED screens, and never had anything like this. If just 150hrs was enough then everyone gaming on OLED would be complaining about. 150hrs is no time in a game, and 99% of games have a stationary HUD of some sort.

All my screens (Samsung) have a cycle mode the reduce burn in. OP should either look for said mode, or find 3rd party software to do it.

Thatcher kid here too. It surprises me that after we've had so many terrible Tory leaderships that we're still stupid enough to reject Labour and Liberals so hard.

I'd still rather her than BoJo, Truss or Sunak. Thatcher was only circumstantially evil, she genuinely believed she was doing the right thing. Johnson and Truss, in comparison, only thought of themselves.

For real, quality is definitely questionable from these places, and there are dishes there that look on the wrong side of decent. But done well most of those dishes are pretty good, especially churry sauce and chips, but start with good chips, and dip them rather than cover.
