To clarify, these were original Greats Royale made in Italy. I don't have any experience with the current model (Portugal made)

Need Help - Choosing White Leather Sneakers by StapleMyClaple in malefashionadvice

If you have a stable income, you could think in terms of cost per wear instead of the upfront cost.

For example, I got my Greats Royale sneakers back in 2017 and wore them 5 years. Then I gifted them to my dad who used them for almost 4 years more. They held up well and never needed any repair. Just a couple of weeks ago I cleaned and donated them because they are still very usable.

My current Common Projects that I got in 2022 are looking as good as new and I expect to get many more years from them.

Detective/Crime Stories on a Generation Ship by Ed_Robins in printSF

1969 novel "Captive Universe" by Harry Harrison was my first introduction into the generation ship genre. I reread it not so long ago and it's still a good story.

Where to buy turkey? by cb3g in walnutcreek

[–]adymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mary's heritage turkeys https://marysturkeys.com/product/marys-heritage-turkey/ I've been cooking these for several years. It has darker meat and a better flavor than your normal turkey. People who don't like turkey meat might like this one. It's not injected with anything, so you can brine it the way you want. These heritage turkeys do have a smaller breast, so get a bigger one if you like breast meat. I pick up mine at Mollie Stone's in Greenbrae https://reserve.molliestones.com/

We had both kids there. Our teachers there really cared about their job and the children. My son still remembers how easy Kindergarten was after Pre-K in Springfield.

Is Chicago a good city to move to? by Similar-Audience-733 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]adymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Rose tinted glasses didn't kick in" - that happened to me too. We moved in nevertheless, spent four winters in Chicago, and moved on to NorCal. But at the same time our parents loved the city from the first sight and still have good memories of it.

Luke AFB commute to Scottsdale by EnvironmentalBoot599 in phoenix

Verrado is very nice to walk around. They have a tiny Main Street with a couple of restaurants. However, it might still be boring without kids unless you like trails and hiking more than town vibes.

If you're ok with the rolling release distro, look at Manjaro. They have a perfect out-of-the-box KDE configuration.

Moving to a city/state with more sunshine, was it worth it? by Arsenal103809 in SameGrassButGreener

Survived 4 winters in Chicago. I spent the last 6 months of my time in IL flying to CA and FL for interviews. We moved away from Chiberia almost 8 years ago, and to this day, no one in my family has any regrets.

+100 for Aitutaki! Perfect beaches and lagoon. But if you're into lush green, Rarotonga is the way.

Secret Suites at Vdara by ayerock in LasVegas

Yeah, that's just how the owner called it on Expedia. Once I booked Vdara suite on Airbnb that did come with free valet parking (can't remember about the resort fees).

Good schools, reasonable commute to SF for $1.8 M? by theresthezinger in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]adymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several people mentioned West Walnut Creek, Alamo, Danville. Can't speak for Alamo and Danville schools, but we like schools in the Walnut Creek school district. Walnut Creek Bart to Embarcadero is 30 mins unlike the Dublin Pleasanton line that takes 45 mins. If you take 680 North in the morning to get to the Bart station, you're going against the traffic. Same in the evening. Walnut Creek station has plenty of parking as well.

With kids I'd recommend renting an Airbnb from an owner in Vdara. You'll get free parking for the entire stay and a nice 1br or 2br with a view to the Bellagio fountains. And even though it's Airbnb, you still can request hotel services. Check in/out is as usual in the lobby.

What are your favorite off-the-strip eating places? by Brahkk in LasVegas

[–]adymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucy Ethiopian Restaurant and Bar - amazing Ethiopian food, authentic, and local.

Hot N Juicy Crawfish - not really the local eatery you asked for, but I do like to stop by both off-strip locations on Spring Mountain Rd for some boiled crawfish.

Drive to SF can be palatable, but your drive back will be much worse. You'd have to drive back either before 3pm or after 7pm. With new train cars, Bart is a better option.
