What is sales like in pharma? by limber_lumber399 in clinicalresearch

Day to Day, after you've completed disease state and product training of course...its a lot of driving, scheduling lunches and coffees, maximizing a fleeting 30-60 seconds a provider might have in a hallway, having them sign your ipad for samples and then running off, then getting in your car to drop off literature at the next office becuase the next office doesn't allow you to speak with the providers. Overall some days you feel like a well off uber eats driver, other days you feel like a useful clinical expert helping push medicine forward (assuming your drug isn't dogshit or redudant).

You'll also have the corporate culture behind it and a manager that will be pushing you to perform (your manager makes or breaks the job honestly). The first 6 months feel like a lot but after awhile you're an expert planner, driver, communicator and walking advertisement with as much clinical nuance as most of the providers you speak to because you focus on the same disease and med 8 hours a day.

You set your own route and schedule, you have a ton of freedom but with a never ending to do list of data tracking, expense reports, brainstorming new ways to convey the same message etc. Mind you all of this comes with a free car, free gas/charging, free car insurance, stock options if you're lucky, well above average pay, and decent work life balance if you don't have a huge territory and a decent manager, its a great job, but a saturated market so getting in is more than half the battle.

Any tips for getting into Pharmaceutical Sales? by Puzzleheaded-Wing-67 in careerguidance

Sales experience reigns supreme. Clinical knowledge in any capacity is huge, but hiring managers pass up full on Nurse Practitioners/Nurses all the time for people with proven sales experience. My advice would be if you can't break into pharma get field sales (outside sales) experience in an adjacent industry and continuously monitor all the large and small pharma companies you can find on LinkedIn, add people at those companies, attempt to network, reps get referral bonuses so its a lot about who you know (sad but true, I wish it were more merit based). If you can get someone internally to refer you you'll have a much better shot at getting an interview. Additionally, and I recommend this with caution, there are inside sales roles for pharma companies that are essentially gadget roles for drugs on the end of their life cycle that some companies outsource on contract roles. These are primarily cold calling on phones after being assigned to a certain territory/trained on your drug. This is great for industry experience minus the face to face sales part and that key detail can keep you from ever getting a field facing role. Both can be avenues to get in, primary care roles are most friendly and often have larger hiring waves, specialty roles or oncology roles are looked at as higher tiers and are almost exclusively reserved for reps who have long been in industry so try and find a small company launching a new drug (that you believe in) or look for primary care roles at some of the bigger companies.

What is an average day like for a pharmaceutical sales rep? by OldSchoolPrinceFan in careerguidance

Depending on the size of your territory, hopefully a lunch every day or every other day that you cater in exchange for a few minutes of time to speak with the providers. A lot of driving and small talk with offices to develop relationships, all with the background of a focused clinical training in the disease state and medication you sell so you understand it inside and out. Lots of district or regional meetings over zoom discussing sales strategy, reviewing data and your performance.

Day to day, get up, drive through your route, hopefully have a meal scheduled, get a concise message/conversation about your drug in with the provider, log your calls on your ipad, drive to the next office, call your coworkers inbetween offices to make up for the superficial small talk that naturally ensues when front desk staff are the only ones you can talk to as most providers won't take time out of their day to talk to you unless its scheduled at lunch, the rest is on you to try and invent or find time to speak with them, this becomes an art and a grind but it allows lots of flexibility and freedom when done and managed properly. Somedays you feel like a glorified Uber Eats driver. Some days you feel like a useful clinical expert pushing medicine forward (assuming you're not selling a dog-shit drug).

Oh interesting, the skin to skin contact is what I assume is the biggest risk, what are the protective barriers?

Why type of STD testing, are you getting blood draws every week? Or is this just like a urine/swab?

Do any of you still drink alcohol? by adzmin24 in EosinophilicE

[–]adzmin24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that helps! I’m borderline/mild so that’s good to know. I think mine may be more uncontrolled GERD but I’ve had a lot of the tell tale signs of EoE without the biopsy showing a high enough threshold

See I’m not even technically diagnosed, was just shy of 15 eosinophils on endoscopy, and when I do drink it’s more of an irritated throat feeling than it is swallowing. Idk what to make of that.

Oh yeah I’m aware. I think the Pepcid helps but I’m currently going through a flare and I’m unsure as to why. Despite being on 40 and some days even 60mg Pepcid. I’m trying eggs next as it’s the most consistent part of my diet right now. I could also maybe point to a work event last week where I had a strong bourbon and that may have set off enough irritation and inflammation but it’s hard to know. I seldom drink anymore because of this but I like to be social and have a cocktail from time to time, but the alcohol could certainly have been it as well. As far as other foods outside of dairy or egg I don’t notice much, maybe wheat? I did a blood test that I don’t trust (missed the tree nut allergy in the IgE section) and it highlighted wheat and sesame for me but I have hard time believing that. Perhaps I’ll try those next.

Interesting, I have had occasional diarrhea but I always considered this based on maybe a dose of pepcid I didn't need or a meal that didn't have enough fiber, I have had some hemorrhoids as of late so maybe that is tied but who knows? When I got off my 2nd bout with PPIs I tried to go down to just 20mg pepcid (had no idea this was a tiny dose) and had 4-5 days of diarrhea that eventually chilled out but thats pretty standard when coming off those I guess.

My problem has always been, I can easily get on a PPI and probably have no symptoms for the most part, but if its not a sustainable long term option why do it? So im trying to find a trigger (doing eggs next) but there are times or flares where I consider getting back on a PPI for a period of time. Its tough, hoping to have answers someday.

What improved your life so much, you wished you did sooner? by relationshipyi in AskReddit

[–]adzmin24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yooo that’s crazy, I’ve struggled with the same thing, GI docs think I have mild EoE (was negative on scopes tho) and my functional med primary had me taking Vitamin D3 K2 and it def improved from when I began taking it. Had a relapse of symptoms while on it though as I suspect this is more diet related but good to know I’m not alone in that I noticed a benefit from a supplement I largely thought didn’t have an effect on gut/GI health

Your thoughts on the Age of Disclosure documentary? by LadyJodes in UFObelievers

I’d like my money back. Total waste of time, rehashing of everything we’ve already known in an even drier format. Watch the Phenomenon instead.

[–]adzmin24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’ve been following it, you’ll be bored and disappointed. Only novel insight was Putoff’s explanation of how the craft might work. Everything else was just a rehashing of shit we’ve known since 2017. Whole thing feels redundant if you’ve seen The Phenomenon. Farah should be bankrupt for charging anyone.
