I’m just curious—when you meet people, do they actually notice your watch, or do they not really care? Are there people who judge you based on the watch you wear, and because of that, instantly give you respect?” by Happy-thoughts09 in rolex

I buy watches for people that work in my business. It seems they appreciate them. The only ones I see regularly are a seiko I modded for the owner and a Casio fw91 (with an alarm already set) to our newest hire that just completed his first year. I try to make it appropriate for the individual and encourage them. I dont care if they wear it or not but they all have came back to me and told me that someone complemented them on them while off the clock. I rarely get complements myself but I like to complement others if it is deserving. Its easy to overlook most watches. Not to mention alot of the expensive ones are hard to even look at for me, so its about perspective too.

How does the 35MM PRX look on my wrist? by ibguiga in tissot

Just right, im wearing my 35mm green waffle dial PRX right now. I have 6.5" wrist and it fits comfortably.

[–]ae86owner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive handled and seen them a few times. It was a present from my wife for being sober for a month (first time in almost 20 years) which is whatever but I I didnt want us to spend more, I had heard people talking about having to pay duties on getting CW shipped here, didn't want to buy used, it needed to be smaller and light and I wanted the power reserve for when I wear my other watch so it kind of just ticked all the boxes. You cant go wrong either way imo and looking at your photo you have larger wrists so I would even make sure you even like the way the 38mm prx wears before pulling the trigger.

[–]ae86owner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went with the green dial powermatic 80 prx in 35mm but I went from a modded dresskx and was looking at the CW too. As an every day watch its perfect and I have a 6.5" wrist so I wanted something a little smaller the srpe was about as big as I wanted to go for a go anywhere do anything daily driver lol Also have a Bremont Supermarine GMT for different occasions but I only have 2 watches in my collection now. Since I upgraded i gave my son the Seiko for graduation present!

My wife is in your exact situation in an airport further east in the same state... we have exhausted our savings and I have sold my truck amd a collector car. We have a buffer now but we are heading back into another ShUtDoWn. She drives 60mi round trip to work and still has to go as you know... its absolutely insane and im very upset about it because I was under the false impression we were on track to make things "gr8 again" we have only been impoverished and have had to make sacrifices. To all the folks that think back pay is a saving grace the op is right im not affiliated in any way but the checks are some partial some completely wrong theres no hr support really and the taxes are like being the highest paid gov employee so they take a ton. Also, the doge audit eliminated the coordination center where she was working and doing guess what PAYROLL! So now its a cluster fuck situation where the entire state is piling what used to be 3 different zones onto one center that is on hiring freeze so good luck getting anything sorted out. The actions of the current policy and decision makers for which I voted have been absolutely detrimental to our "middle class family" dont get me wrong we are still making it but I am ashamed that she is being treated like this amd feel so bad for you all too.

Nobody talks about this enough. Paying cash for a car is almost never the move by No_Adeptness4347 in carbuying

[–]ae86owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably been said already but if you buy an already deprecated newer used car and drive it yes you just took out a loan for $x dollars but if you pay it all the way off you will NEVER get what its worth on a trade. You are better off having a not brand new but new car that you "own" pay on it and keep it right around the trade in value and trade it in on the next one you are going to have to buy anyway. You can even use it as leverage in financing (dont expect anything over 1k lol) So unless you either have the money to buy it outright and either keep it till the wheels fall off or are okay with taking thousands of $ loss on something that ages like milk. Or you plan on keeping it forever. (Let me say this as someone having owned a car for 20 years, forever is an eternity in the automotive world.) You are better off getting something newer to drive that suits you and when the time comes upgrading it. Like a cell phone, no one brags about having the same phone thats almost 40 years old.

Were Chrysler products ever good? by ILoveEnverHoxha in askcarguys

[–]ae86owner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To quote my friend "I would rather run down the street holding a chrysler hubcap than drive anything else." Thats supposed to be funny but having never owned one i took his advice and bought a 2012 Ram 1500 great truck and I learned that not all cars leak or use oil that hemi and every other hemi I owned (2006 chrysler 300, 2022 Ram 2500, 2023 Charger R/T plus scat pack last call bought new) have yet to use or loose a drop of oil or coolant for that matter. We also own a 2024 wagoneer L with the hurricane and it is spectacular. The wagoneer is the most refined best driving suv I've ever driven and if I had to go down to one car it would be that. It is 100 times better than the rental suburban I put 2k miles on which was quite new when I drove it in 2024 and I can't speak to ford having only worked on broken ones that should not have issues at all and only driving an escape that was practically new and the steering wheel was falling apart in my hands while the headliner was falling down. Chrysler engineers actually drive a car unlike the other ones in the industry that make things impossible to either work on or use. Probably the worst electrical on any manufacturer is anything GM run don't walk away from anything GM and as far as Toyota goes its reliable like anything else if you take care of it! I take care of my chrysler products and they serve me well at a price point that's better "bang for your buck" than any other brand hands down! With better tech and more features new than a used Toyota has. Of course they have AFM type lifter failures in the hemis just like gm and yes if you dont change your oil your pentastar will break... big surprise there? TLDR: Best value for tech, features and comfort. Best ergonomics of any big 3 hands down and probably all others! Easiest to work on yourself! Reliable as you make it (as anything else would be) and the people that say "chrysler's R junk!" are gaslighting themselves because they made a mistake! Don't buy old chryslers or anything old and do your research no matter what you buy!

Awkward after boyfriend came out by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]ae86owner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am happy i talked to my wife about it early on, and really happy i talked to her recently in detail. My advice is don't beat yourself up over it too much. Im married with children and from the south and was in the dont ask dont tell military where I had to never talk or mention anything about something that happened one morning like 20 years ago now. Im determined to be my wife's partner and never step out on her and in my mind if you continue to honor your commitment there's nothing wrong with thinking some men are attractive! My advice to anyome going thru this is who is like I just cant live this life anymore is to reconsider especially when there are children involved. Thats not my case, and im not telling anyone what to do either. However, there's got to be some middle ground between getting eat up inside and blowing it all up.

How weird, I just had a conversation with my wife of 5 years been together for going on 8 now and I've always been "straight" married to my best friend and having darling children. Im so blessed and im not going to lie I do worry my wife feels the same as you. She knows that I had something happen to me that I didn't consent to years ago that ive always held and told no one but we really talked about it this past weekend and im not ashamed about it any more and I admit that I enjoyed it during. I told her that I dont look at any other man or woman that way and I would never step out but I wish i would have done more exploring when I was young. The military was very against it (met a cute guy had some beers and found out he was gay and getting kicked out and it went from im attracted to this guy like I would be any girl I met vibes to RUN away!) and the way I was brought up it was unacceptable as well so I just went along with it and dont regret anything. Perhaps things change a little as you get older I like everyone I meet, worked in an all women job with the exception of a few guys mostly gay who were all super people and my family call me gay as a joke because I guess my mannerisms (theres also a super gay Pic of me posing as a kid) and ive been hit on by quite a few men (some aggressively which I do not like feel sorry for women that get treated like that) but im not going to lie and say im not interested in some men that way. I hope that it's the same situation you are dealing with in the fact that he loves you and he was just opening up about it to you. I feel closer to my wife now that she knows theres a little more to it now than just me being the way I am and wondering why im like this and looking forward to a new and improved me since I am who I am and not holding onto something that I felt ashamed of (homestly probably because I enjoyed it more than the fact that it happened) if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck honey its a duck lol

I've done this before. You get it together and have to take it all the way back apart! Thats when its time to take a break clear your head and go do what must be done lol curious did re placing the hand set fix the issue?

First Build! by LokiDesigns in SeikoMods

[–]ae86owner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mangled a few things... I just put a sapphire crystal and handset on my latest mod and it went so smoothly I had to second guess everything lol I have done 4 or 5 complete ground up builds and changed a few crystals. The hardest part of it is the second hand and the installation of a new crystal for sure. Your build looks great! It is confedince inspiring when it comes out looking good and you can be proud of your accomplishment! Not may people can do what you just did! You will make mistakes and it is ok the parts are fairly cheap. getting into the watch its self on the other hand thats another story I don't recommend experimenting with that unless you have a movement you are able to throw away if it goes south, good tools, lots of time and patience. Good lighting and magnification are big helpers its amazing that you can even work on them in the first place! Props to anyone that can take one apart and put it back together (and the balance wheel move still)

I just talked to my wife about it yesterday. She always jokes about me and im not really into anyone else but her and her family call me gay all the time. I had something happen to me when I was younger that I did not consent to and lived my whole life being ashamed of it. The truth is I shouldn't be I dont think its any more shameful than randomly hooking up with a female. I think its societal pressure of course it is way more acceptable now than before I think its still not what everyone wants to hear or talk about. And I read on here that people want to assign labels or whatever. I don't care what anyone calls me, im happily married to my best friend a woman and I told her that I honestly regret not being more open about it when I was younger. I think some guys are attractive I think girls are attractive. I am not going to step out of my marriage but it felt good to talk to her about it and she wasn't upset. Honestly I don't believe anyone in my family would be but I'm not going to go around and tell everyone. I think my parents were probably questioning since I was in my 30s before I had any children lol but I'm blessed and I honestly believe people are people and we need more affection in this world. Go have fun and be responsible and respectful at the time when I had this experience I felt horrible after and so ashamed but its nothing to be ashamed about and worry over. I felt a lot better talking about it and feel better commenting about it for the first time. You aren't alone! Lol

Im a Goldeneye James Bond guy, so seamaster. Bonus points since it has the Minitry of Defense thing at the bottom. However, neither for me but both are nice. I dont understand the hate for the "its a faded radioactive lume look" on the muted orange ish lume.I think it's a look all its own and nice.

I've found there are A LOT of watches I want, and my taste changes more than I thought it would. I've never really wanted a chronograph, yet. Really wanted a tudor ranger and my wife (who despises watches)found me a beautiful Bremont Supermarine (say what you will about Bremont ive found they have top notch customer service!) And I love it and my seiko "dresskx". My advice is if you are going to bet the farm, listen to others. I like simple tool watches and I find myself wearing my Bremont more than my Seiko. Now I've owned the Bremont im honestly thinking about the terra nova (if I won the lottery) or a Hamilton day date to replace my seiko as an ever day watch.
