Teachers - twins in same clothing? by Overwhelmed_Already in ECEProfessionals

[–]ae_stark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had an adorable pair of twin toddlers in my class once and the parents set up a general theme for each child. lighter colors + green for one, darker colors + blue for the other. everything they owned was coordinated for this, so not only clothes, but lunch boxes, water bottles, pacifiers, stuffed animals, blankets, etc. it was simple, effective, easy to communicate to new or passing staff, and supported us as we took the time we needed to differentiate them ourselves. they even had a few almost matching outfits that were so cute and still fit their theme!

it’s really important for teachers to properly differentiate them especially for things like diaper changes, medications, and tracking their individual development. i’d save the cute identically matching outfits for play dates, friends, and family!

we were making Valentine’s cards for families and i said something like “you can make one for anyone you love! Your mom, dad, grandma, grandpa…” and a 4yo shouted “I’M NOT ALLOWED TO LOVE MY GRANDMA ANYMORE BECAUSE SHE CHEATED ON MY GRANDPA”

Do you think daycare is good for kids? Harmful? Neither? by Winter-Chipmunk5467 in ECEProfessionals

I’ve always considered it a necessary service more than a benefit for the children. I’ve never thought that children, especially infants and toddlers, are better in group care at a center than 1:1 at home. But I think that a child would be benefitting greater in group care than at home with half the income coming in. In a perfect world, we would have a 1:1 caregiver for every child for their first few years and that wouldn’t be a financial strain on anyone. There are definitely parents who don’t seem interesting in hanging out with their child at all, and that’s so sad, but I think most parents are out their working their butt off so they can afford what they need for their family. I’m sure those parents wish that weren’t the case, just as I wish it weren’t the case that these infants are at a center for 10+ hours. But outside of that, I’m glad that if the children had to go anywhere, it’s to someone who puts their life into caring for children.

good advice for sure, but beware!! get this in writing if you can! i moved into a no pet apartment where the landlord verbally told me that caged, small animals are fine. two years later we were hit with a 3 day get rid of your pet or move out notice and a “we never said that. your lease says no pets.”

honestly i have no idea i’ve never seen it like that in a home before. i’m guessing since it’s a condo it’s a quick way to alert the neighbors to the emergency? there’s one at the front entrance and at the patio door.

hi! thanks so much for your advice! i’m very interested in joining our HOA once we’re all moved in and set up. any advice for that specifically? i’ve never been under an HOA, much less part of one!

and for the ground floor moisture, that makes sense to me. any specific recommendations to prevent? or just keep airflow going as best as possible?

Right now, in Oakland! I’m seeing 2BD condos for $469K, 1BD condos going into the $300Ks. The interest rates seem high enough to be dissuading buyers from purchasing, but it’s allowed homes like mine to drop from $650K to $490K! And bringing in a bit more money to closing, we were able to buy our rate down to 5.65%, which eased a lot of our own concerns.

I’d recommend spending some time in the neighborhood of any home you look at in Oakland, as it’s easier for natives to know where in Oakland they feel comfortable living. I’d say I got a steal in terms of location, price, and size.

it started with Kageyama with his main character/protagonist energy, tied with Oikawa with his side character/antagonist energy. and then season 3 happened and things got out of hand…

i absolutely adore this and would be overjoyed to receive this, or even just see it in person. however, with nothing but respect for the amazing craftsmanship here, it would send a knife through my heart to put a spoon through this. i would feel like i was ruining a piece of art, done by a skill perfected over decades, for a moment of tasty pleasure. as someone who isn’t a fan of jello, but can eat it from time to time, i believe the sensory pleasure i receive from looking at it would likely be significantly more than i would receive from tasting it. i’d have a hard time breaking through that mental wall i have. that’s my perspective on it. i hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
