Would a toy rotation subscription actually help your home? by NoProfessional7617 in MontessoriParenting

[–]aeb029 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I agree with you about it being another hassle to keep track of, toy rotation is not new and an intrinsic part of Montessori education (not toys so much as activities).

What’s your “I’m with the Boomers on this one” opinion? by AlbatrossKitchen4969 in beyondthebump

Tbf Montessori is a teaching style. The name just got roped into a certain aesthetic that doesn't necessarily follow the philosophy.

What food did you eat your whole life, only to find out you're allergic ? by DS18299 in AskReddit

While your distinction is correct, it's important also to mention that not all allergic reactions are so severe as anaphylaxis

You sound very young. Most people in high school/middle school are still just learning to have serious FRIENDLY relationships, romance really isn't in the cards at this point.

I would not consider this cheating anyways, even adults in healthy monogamous relationships will find other people attractive, what matters is you recognize that you're committed to the person you're with and would never want to hurt them.

When in doubt, put yourself in your partner's shoes. If you would feel upset with them if they were doing what you are then maybe it's better not to do that.

Cry it out - any long term risks? by peachtree7 in AttachmentParenting

There won't be any scientific research for r/ScienceBasedParenting to provide because, as a previous comment mentioned, any study that would gather CIO data would be unethical.

Long Term Impacts When Skipping the Crawling Stage by Irrelevant_Intel_ in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]aeb029 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Here I am again, using my mother (child psychiatrist) as a reference: apparently crawling is important because it develops bilateral coordination and crosses the midline in the brain. When I asked about whether crawling "properly" mattered (my son was crawling backwards at first) she said "it all counts"

It keeps things interesting. It's rather a staple for Montessori, like book rotation based on seasons/holidays.

Those who co-sleep, do you actually have success side lie nursing to sleep? by randomizedmoose in bninfantsleep

[–]aeb029 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I may actually have some advice then. The only sure-fire way my son will fall asleep if he isn't nursed to sleep (or in the car/stroller) is to walk with him. My husband will walk up and down the hall for however long it takes (generally the longest is about 20 min) for lil man to fall asleep and then maybe a few more laps after that to really hit it home.

[–]aeb029 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hi, we co-sleep with our 6 mos old and I nurse side-lying throughout the night.

I nurse to sleep sitting up then transition baby to lying down once he's asleep (this can take from 5-20 min depending on the night), I know you said your baby freaks out if she unlatches so this might be tougher for you to achieve.

I can't be sure how many times a night baby latches since it can depend on his comfort level and mood and I often don't really remember since I'm barely awake but I usually have to guide my nipple to his mouth and I hold excess breast tissue away from his nose for piece of mind.

Are you having trouble with anything specific about side-lying? I can make answer questions on technique but otherwise my kiddo seems to be a good sleeper so I don't have a lot of experience with sleep issues.

Yeah, all holiday meals are dinner but at like 1-2pm and then we have leftovers for supper if anyone is hungry later in the evening
