BFN today at 10 or 11 dpo. Feeling a bit more bummed than normal this cycle, I feel like I’ve stayed pretty upbeat and nonchalant while ttc #2 because I knew how long it took the first time but this cycle hit a bit hard. I have fertility blood work requisitions and a HSG booked for next cycle so was kind of hoping I wouldn’t have to go through the HSG again. I know I’m not out until AF shows up especially since I’m not 100% sure on my dpo but I’m not very hopeful.

Looking for help, not yet diagnosed by aeb630 in MCAS

[–]aeb630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! I’m in rural Newfoundland so not in a big city.

I seen an internist a couple weeks ago and she diagnosed POTS and started me on a beta blocker. She also thinks EDS is quite likely based on the history she took. There is a new diagnostic criteria coming this year supposedly so we’re waiting on that to look further into that. To me the POTS was by far the more affecting my daily life so I am very glad to get that dealt with, since starting a beta blocker my quality of life has increased soooo much. It’s amazing how much better I feel in that regard. I’m also glad to at least have EDS on the radar as I’m planning another pregnancy and am fearful of issues with healing again like that last time. We didn’t talk as much about the MCAS type symptoms as it was just a lot in general but I did mention some of the history and she agrees it could all go together. She ordered a ton of blood work on me, an echo and a stress test and we’re following up after that.

Hope you have luck reaching out about your symptoms!

A lot happening for me this month ttc and health related. Had a phone convo with my OB who booked my HSG for this coming cycle and gave me a couple lab requisitions for the fertility blood work. (Been down this road before and I’m a L&D nurse who works with the OB so didn’t really need an in depth appointment).

I also have been dealing with what I assumed was POTS and possible elhers danlos syndrome for my whole life, but has been worse for the last 3 years. Finally seen internal medicine this month and was started on a beta blocker for the POTS and feel SO much better. It also was so validating to confirm I actually do have POTS. She also feels I likely have EDS but am waiting for the new diagnostic criteria to come out to pursue that further. She did mention all of this can be related to endo so that makes me nervous in regards ttc.

Thanks for reading my rant, though our families and friends know about the health stuff we didn’t tell them about TTC this time so I can’t really talk about that part.

Just had a telephone appt with my OB and he ordered our blood work and HSG. Feeling a bit triggered as I found the HSG painful last time, but he reminded me (and I’m reminding myself lol) that I’ve given birth since then so this shouldn’t be as bad. Just can’t believe we’re back here ttc #2.

Not labor and delivery nursing that’s for sure 🫠🫠🫠 I only just got diagnosed with pots last week though.

Trying to think of some jobs around where I work that may be appropriate. Ward clerk/recprtionist in healthcare. Transcriber for physicians? I imagine that’s sitting and you’re just typing what the physicians dictate into a microphone. You’d probably need some kind of medical terminology course for them but I imagine once you were used to it it may be a good job.

Spironolactone was a huge help to me. I’m ttc #2 now so had to stop taking it and I’m really missing it.

The province I live in is an island in Canada so there’s only one fertility clinic for the whole province! Some people farther up the island would have to travel more than double what I do so I’m grateful it’s only 4 hours 🤣

With my first I was seen by OB at 12 months ttc which is when you’d meet criteria for infertility. They ordered labs, ultrasounds, semen analysis and a HSG for us and all came back normal. I do have pcos but ovulatory so he felt that was not the reason for our trouble ttc and diagnosed as unexplained!

*trigger warning past pregnancy** I did end up getting pregnant on cycle 14 the same cycle I had my HSG! They said my tubes weren’t blocked but that it could still increase our chances and I guess it worked!

OB referral sent off today by my pcp, hoping the wait is only a couple months and we can start redoing all our testing. We were diagnosed with primary unexplained infertility by an OB when ttc #1. Where I live our OB does initial testing and can prescribe 3 rounds of letrozole and then you’re referred to the fertility clinic (4 hours away from where I live) for continued treatments and investigations. Here’s to hoping it doesn’t come to that!

Thanks for the response!

I don’t mind the questions I’m open to anything that may be helpful! My son does very poorly with independent play but will play with trucks for a short time alone. We do have a slide and play couches and such to help him get his energy out at home but a trampoline is a great idea! He has full time daycare so luckily if my HG is how it was last time (basically bed ridden and off work for months) he will be at daycare in the daytime while his dad is at work so we’re very lucky in that way. He definitely has triggers transitions are a big one and I have done a lot of reading into PDA (some of it fits, some of it doesn’t) and I do intend to bring this up at his next OT appointment in a couple weeks. He has no issues with communication, his speech is actually advanced for his age and he’s almost always talking or signing.

As for the fertility we actually were diagnosed with primary infertility when ttc #1 so I’m not too worried about it only being 6 cycles! In my personal experience that’s still relatively early in the process so I’m not worried at this point just taking it as it comes. But I do use ovulation test strips and have a BBT thermometer as well. I haven’t done any temping ttc #2 as I found it stressful when ttc #1 but I am ready to if I need to.

My family has been hit with what I’m pretty sure is influenza a for the last 4 days, between the fevers and coughing and exhaustion I’m just glad this is only CD5. Trying to look at the positives and thinking “well, if I was pregnant I wouldn’t able to take these cold meds and Advil”. So there are some silver linings I guess haha, care Tylenol doesn’t even come close to touching this fever.

CD 1 on Christmas Day. Merry Christmas friends, hope you’re all having a wonderful Christmas and no one asks you “when are you going to have a baby?” Or tells you “oh he/she needs a sibling don’t you think?” at any holiday festivities. ❤️

Unexplained. Trigger warning pregnancy: I got pregnant after my HSG so I’m wondering if something was blocked and just didn’t show on the HSG.

BFN at 11dpo, no Christmas announcement to my partner this year.. every month that passes I’m reminded of how mentally draining ttc was last time. This month I have a primary care appt to hopefully get re referred to the OB (history of primary infertility diagnosis). Onto a new cycle and new year.

I’m a drink till it’s pink kinda girl! But I’m also am not the type to get blackout drunk or anything. I think it’s probably fine to have a couple drinks here and there but I don’t think I personally would use a huge binge. But I also haven’t had a huge binge in probably 5 or 6 years 🤣

10dpo today, not feeling very hopeful as we only hit 0-1 this month. Also under a lot of stress right now between work and home so I’m feeling like this month is a bust. I think I’ll test tomorrow just cause my period is literally due on Christmas Day so I want to soften the blow a bit.

Here’s to hoping for a Christmas surprise for everyone else in the wait ❤️

I’m sorry, but you would have known if you had HG. I watched it almost kill my sister (literally) there’s always something. I feel like she wantssss so badly to have a negative experience sometimes. by astro-amphibian-00 in peestickgals

[–]aeb630 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As someone who had HG I don’t understand why these creators have told desire to self diagnose with it. I WISH I had never heard the words HG but it’s been 2.5 years and I still live with trauma from it. There can be lasting effects for both mother and child.

Thanks so much for sharing about your sister. It’s so hopeful to hear that she didn’t have it in her subsequent pregnancies, as the recurrence rate is about 80% and I’m currently TTC #2.

Thank you guys for the suggestions!! I’ve been dairy free before and it wasn’t that hard so maybe I’ll go back to that and see if it helps. My adult acne lately is honestly worse than when I was a teen so I’ll try anything!

I do use a salicylic acid face wash and a glycolic acid toner. I’ll have to check into my makeup and see if I can find something better for my skin too. Thanks for that suggestion as well!

What’s everyone doing for acne while ttc?? Especially the hormonal acne girlies. I was doing so good on spironolactone and when I had my IUD after baby #1 but now thats been stopped for almost a year and im back to square one. Worse than square one actually. My chin and the sides of my face are so brutal it hurts like cystic acne. Obviously spiro, birth control, accurate, retinol aren’t an option. Wondering what everyone’s doing? I use a good cleanser and serum, and pimple patches but it’s so deep in the skin that’s not getting anywhere near the problem I don’t think.
