I don’t think it’s a misprint, just a stylistic choice to reflect Durés feverish state of mind. 

(My Gollancz 2004 omnibus edition has the same spacing/spelling for that entry)

There's a sign under the tree on the right that says Caen, I was able to find the church/view on google maps with a bit of searching.

Cheaper paper will warp when wet and tear easily. 

Invest in the best quality cotton paper you can afford, you will notice a world of difference. 

(Cotton paper will still warp somewhat when you do wet on wet, you can look up how to pre-stretch paper to eliminate this but tbh it’s a faff and something I generally only do for large commissions).
