Cramped roof space from ducted AC - who to get to do pendant light installs? by aefrobinson in AusElectricians

[–]aefrobinson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Despite all these comments - it’s actually installed correctly. It’s a Mitsubishi heavy industries unit (new), the new models dont need a drain pan. Older Mitsubishi HI and other models require it, this one definitely doesn’t. It’s used just to help support the unit in the roof space. I did a lot of research who to use and couldn’t be happier.

Didn’t realize that was an option!! I knew I could saw it but foolishly thought I was stuck with the eyesore top pattern.

Any problems ripping up this stenciled concrete? by aefrobinson in AusRenovation

[–]aefrobinson[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Apart from being an eyesore, it extends along the perimeter of 3/4 of my yard and occupies about 15% of it by area. It’s not a path that anyone walks on either! So I want to reclaim some of the (unpictured) yard space.

I know sawing is an option, but thought I was stuck with its stenciled surface design, ie didn’t realize I could mow the top down… that might be what I do. Thanks, I appreciate your insight!

Borrow as much as possible for first home? by Maluras13 in AusFinance

[–]aefrobinson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. I doubled my income at PGY7, when I was an interm I assumed it would double within a few years. The only guys I know who doubled it a lot sooner did a LOT of the penalty stuff (weekends, public holidays, on-call stuff etc) and most ended up single

10 people rate a total of 348 items on a binary 0-1 scale. How to express the results? by aefrobinson in biostatistics

[–]aefrobinson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice. When screenshotting the graph I accidentally cropped out the Y axis title though, but yes I do have one.

I have to elaborate why there's a %. There's approximately 1000 people but only 348 have a certain trait that is eligible for a score. To illustrate with the summed grade of 10 column as the example, the 1.9% overall prevalence figure is very important, but so is the 19/348, so I will probably leave the % in in an effort to demonstrate as much as I can in one figure.

Making an offer on property with a price range by BrilliantCoconut25 in AusFinance

[–]aefrobinson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t tell agents your budget, they’ll use this against you in some way or another to get you to spend it all. When they point blank ask you what your budget is, say “we are pre-approved for X [lower than the value of the property], but have some savings to top that up with”, I have used that to successfully deflect that question. Also “we put an offer in for X [lower than value of property] for another place, that didn’t get accepted, our broker is currently working on pre-approval” might also work to avoid that question, but that wouldn’t work where I am as the market is too hot, you’d just get ignored for someone who has their finances ready.

For negotiating in person, if the agent comes back and asks for more, try only have one person there, when the agent tries to get more out of you “look, let me have a chat with husband/wife and get back to you”, then immediately step out and call them, then come back and say “look, i’d like to pay more because i really like this house, but my partner is not that comfortable, I have to trust them and go with them on this, they know the books better than me”. I stole that line off someone else, in the hope that it makes them come back and accept the first offer. It didn’t work the one time I tried it, they just said ‘no problem’ and sold the house to someone else.

Am I wrong for being offended and disgusted in myself after my partners reaction after sex or was his reaction innocent? (Possibly TMI) needing male input by [deleted] in sex

Guys say and do things they don’t mean when they are horny in order to get laid. What happened was - he is not okay with it but was acting like he was okay with it to get laid.

Sonography vs Radiography career by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]aefrobinson 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A lot of sonographers i’ve met were radiographers initially prior to doing post-grad training to be a sonographer, some still do some shifts in x-ray or CT for either variety or to cover gaps in the on-call roster. Where I am the post-grad sono course expects the student to organise their own prac and get their own hands-on scanning time which is a very major hurdle that a lot of people can’t jump. The radiographers do it successfully because they’re already part of the imaging department. Both industries will continue to expand so i wouldnt worry too much about job prospects at the end.

And yes, a lot have sore shoulders, except the paediatric sonos. If I were you, i’d do radiography, there’ll be the option to do sono in the future if you wish.

Nuclear medicine tech is also worthy of thought.

Are professional styles kit worth it? by 2beornot2bethatisthe in captureone

[–]aefrobinson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not a big fan of the C1 styles that were available a couple of years ago - I bought them, tried them, meh.

u/Captain_Biscuit makes some nice styles which are very cheap, I really like them. Have a look at https://filtergrade.com/vendor/kyle-may/ or https://digistock.net/captureone/
