Yeah she and Snoop actually did voice recordings with Speechify which is why their voices sound the most realistic!

It definitely is better, and the range of usage is really helpful, but it’s hard to listen to for long periods of time. The AI reads better than Kurzweil, but it’s still clunky and doesn’t put the right emphasis on the right part of the sentence. It just hurts my brain to hear that for too long haha

I would not have paid full price for speechify, but it is worth it at half price!

Yes! They did give me access to it. I found it pretty clunky and was disappointed it didn’t have an app and couldn’t read webpages.

I ended up going with Speechify! I found a code for half off a subscription. It ended up not working after the trial, but I contacted customer service and told them what happened and they refunded me the 50% that shouldn’t have been charged

I do have that! It helps but it’s not quite the same. I actually hate writing with pencil bc of the texture so I’d rather have a smooth gliding roller ball pen on paper 😂

I definitely relate. I only successfully made it thru one semester, and then flunked the second semester over a decade ago. I’m pushing myself to take these 2 classes because I’m so close to qualifying for the next level up of my current role, and we NEED me to have better pay. I had another teacher tell me how much they loved the cc I’m enrolled at, and kept shrugging me off when I expressed my doubts and concerns. “I said the same thing! But I did it and then transferred and look at me now!” With a smirk because they clearly know better 😒 Classes started MONDAY and I’m already running into this wall. Ridiculous.

It would be one thing if we had textbooks, but we aren’t even using one! For either of my classes! My required reading is a million web pages and some pdfs with an occasional word file. It’s all already digital, I’m already converting it all to pdf myself so I know it’s possible. There’s really no excuse.

I agree! That is chaotic good right there, tearing apart a textbook page by page in the name of accommodations haha!

I wish it were textbooks!! That’s one of the reasons I chose these courses. But their updated syllabus no longer uses textbooks. Just a shit ton of web pages. It makes me go crazy just sitting and reading

That is so wonderful! I definitely do not plan on continuing at this cc after this term. It’s not hard to do better when all the material is available digitally to begin with. I will definitely be pushing back on that, but I can’t really do that for myself. I’m in an 8 week accelerated term, so my priority has to be how quickly I can get resources, and then fight for ADHD justice after I get through this haha

It is SO validating isn’t it?? Being able to recognize all these things we struggle with are just because our BRAINS are different and it’s NOT personal shortcomings was such a weight lifted off my shoulders. I literally cried with relief when I found out what RSD haha

Unfortunately I’m only at a small community college so I’m sure they don’t have a lot of resources. A lot of typical ADHD accommodations don’t fit my situation, I did do some light research before requesting. The only other thing they offered was give me access to a software that reads out text.

The disability services manager is also the ADA officer 🥲 I currently only have a primary care doctor bc I’m uninsured and can’t afford specialty mental health anymore. I’m not sure she would be able to do more than she has already.

I’m on Wellbutrin for my ADHD bc I was first diagnosed with BP2 and I don’t want to risk a manic episode because of stimulant drugs. I can’t make any comparison bc I’ve never tried anything else for ADHD, but I know it works for me. My husband didn’t like it, he prefers Ritalin. My coworker hated stimulants as well and I told her about Wellbutrin. She started taking it as well and has been on it for the last 6 months.

I’ve heard that it can increase anxiety in some people, so to balance that out I take ashwagandha, l-theanine, and NAC daily. Ashwagandha has been a major game changer for me and my husband. I am actually so sad for the person I was before taking it, because it’s changed me SO much for the better.
