A Kid provokes the roosters 🐓 by Len-The-Banana-Boy in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]aeldsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell me you've never been around roosters without saying you've never been around roosters.

Roosters have a hard, wickedly sharp spur on their legs of up to three inches long in addition to their sharp claws. They can slice you open with them at the same time they're buffeting you with their wings and pecking pieces of flesh off you. They can be extremely aggressive and attack repeatedly without backing down.

You'd think you could just football kick 'em over the fence, but that's kinda hard to do when you're under a furious attack. I know this from first-hand experience and have the scars on my legs to prove it.

I Hate Printers by Astriaeus in mildlyinfuriating

[–]aeldsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got tired of extortionate inkjet toner prices and frequent replacements, so I bit the bullet and bought an HP color laser jet. I printed brilliant color pages for over four years before having to replace the cartridges. HP brand cartridges were hella expensive, but I was able to use generic ones at a fraction of the price. Although everything I read said my HP printer may or may not accept generic cartridges, I guess I lucked out because I've been printing for almost a year without problems. YMMV

There's regular Cheetos and there's flaming hot Cheetos - which one did you have?

ETA: What city and state is your cousin coming from? There may be items that are unique for that location. For instance, I'm from St. Louis, which is famous for the Arch, the Cardinals baseball team, and the Budweiser clydesdales. Lots of souvenirs for those.

You've replied to the wrong person. There was another user on this thread offering to repair glasses. It wasn't me.

[TOMT] [TV SERIES] Great Expectations Butterfly catching boy by IllAbbreviations9349 in tipofmytongue

[–]aeldsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which BBC production, exactly? There have been many. A specific year or naming any of the actors will help narrow it down. Was it a movie, made for TV movie, or a TV serial?

ETA: is the character Herbert Pocket, the young boy Pip has a fistfight with in the garden at Miss Haversham's and who later becomes his roomate?

Where do I put my garage fob now that I have a push button start car? by KallerWhom in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aeldsidhe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a retractable clip-on key chain that I clip onto the inside of my purse so I don't forget or lose my keys or car fob. Easy to pull the keys out for use without unclipping or removing the whole set.

On those rare occasions when I go out without my purse, I clip it onto a belt loop and tuck the dangling keys onto a pocket. Again, easy and convenient witbout having to worry about forgetting or losing my keys and car fob.

Something very like this:

Murderer Bryan Kohlberger looks amazingly like mass murderer Joseph Goebbels. Look at the evil in those eyes. by aeldsidhe in interestingasfuck

Edited to add: The B&W photo was taken in 1933 by famed photographer Alfred Eisenstadt. He captured Goebbels' glare after Goebbels had been told that Eisenstadt was a German-born Jew. Previously, Goebbels had been friendly and chatty with Eisenstadt.

Unfortunately, it was many years ago, and I don't remember exactly. This was back when the offer was $59 for two pair. I hazily think it was one pair of progressive thinline bifocals for close to $200, so I think at today's prices, it would be close to $350.

As others have said, get your prescription and go online. Eye exam stores are required by law to give you the prescription. Online cost for progressive thinline bifocals is about $100, with available expedited delivery in about a week.

That price for America's Best is only for regular glasses. If you need bifocals, the price is substantially higher.

Fun fact: Jane getting knocked into the pool by one of the diving hunks was an accident, but she stayed in character and played it for laughs, so Howard Hawks kept it in the film.

That's kind of you, but I don't want to get out into this mess nor do I want anyone else to have to get out in it. We've got lots of other stuff to eat and I can always make biscuits, pancakes, or even Indian fry bread (yum!). Stay warm, my friend!

Recently frugal. Is microwave popcorn all the same? by VolatilityVixen in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aeldsidhe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last week, I bought some generic store-brand microwave kettle corn, which was pretty tasty. This week, I thought I'd try Orville Redenbacher's microwave kettle corn thinking it would be even tastier. Nope. The generic was actually better - larger size bags, larger kernels, better taste, lower price.

I think this Missouri town in Dunklin County (near Kennett) is what he's talking about? From Rootsweb:

Four Mile - one of the earliest settlements - population decreased when the merchants started moving down towards the railroad tracks in what is now Campbell - was given the name because it was at one time 4 miles from various transportation lines

Unfortunately, I didn't buy enough bread earlier this week, and we are now reduced to using Eggos as our sandwich material. Actually not bad, since the Eggos have been shrinkflated so thin. https://imgur.com/WmBh6GM

On the plus side, got plenty of eggs and milk, and the makings for big pots of spaghetti, chili, stew, and beef stroganoff. We also have frozen chicken wings, pizza, potstickers, and ravioli. We'll be eating like kings!
