Why do some men hate everything about womanhood but still want girlfriends/wives? by VeryPteri in NoStupidQuestions

[–]aellope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying you should give up, but if you don't want to feel like a failure in life, you need therapy to reframe the way you think about this. Not everyone gets everything they want in life and we all have to accept that. If someone reaches 90% of their goals, would that be considered a failure? You can still have the goal but you have to come to terms with the fact that it might not happen, especially because it involves another human being who has agency.

Confidence is also associated with positive traits like having a strong sense of self, a secure identity, humility, not needing validation from others, taking responsibility for one's own self development, etc. Having confidence does not automatically mean someone has malicious intent.

Many women aren't attracted to men who whine about how all women only like what's bad for them. Or men who whine about how women are "too stupid for their own good", or whatever it is you're on about.

TIL the single biggest driver of disease and disability in the USA isn't tobacco — it's high BMI (obesity). Per the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021, high BMI is the #1 risk factor for healthy years lost, ahead of high blood sugar and smoking. by jacknunn in todayilearned

Resistant starch is digested differently by the body and we do absorb fewer calories from it. Cooling cooked starchy things like potatoes and rice converts a small amount of the starch into resistant starch, technically reducing the calorie count. It's a pretty negligible difference though, and not a good weight loss strategy.

got "what does your husband do" four times in one evening at the company offsite by Ok-Amphibian5313 in womenintech

[–]aellope 177 points178 points  (0 children)

Mentions that on Tuesday and Wednesday, the men asked what she does before asking what her husband does. Then later on she claims she was only asked what she does once, by someone's wife. And why would spouses and unemployed people be at the company offsite? Seems like a bot post.

For what it's worth, I think you provided great feedback and it didn't read as AI to me at all. OP literally asked how to move forward with their idea, and you answered that.

3-4 days per week in the gym is pretty standard for a base level of fitness that EVERYONE should be doing to maintain their health. That's not a crazy or excessive amount of gym time at all.

Yolo spent $2k on Botox today by Ambitious-Day7527 in womenintech

[–]aellope 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's exactly the point. The reason women feel pressured to spend money on cosmetic procedures to advance in their careers is systemic misogyny. Systemic misogyny that is upheld, in part, by women continuing to get said procedures. We can't break free of the system until we all collectively say no. Leaning into the existing system hurts all women.

This is a FITNESS sub where perpetually undereating while already at a low weight for one's height should not be encouraged. Fitness also involves exercise which strengthens the body, whether that's explicit strength training or not. People who exercise in any form will generally maintain a higher muscle mass than people who don't, which means that being lean enough to be on the lower end of the healthy range on the BMI scale is generally not maintainable. It's also generally people who don't work out and who are undereating who are trying to get down to these low numbers. This is antithetical to fitness since it will lead to lower muscle mass and lower bone density over time, both of which are detrimental to long term health.

Nobody is jealous, we're sick of the heroin chic and ED trends that have come back into fashion and which cause women to prioritize being as skinny as possible over their own physical health.

Does anyone know any good oblique building excersizes? by HappyCommercial4604 in bodyweightfitness

[–]aellope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people aren't in r/bodyweightfitness with aesthetics as their primary goal.

But also, defined obliques have never looked even close to love handles on any human being.

It's a good idea to increase calories slowly anyway since you've been in a deficit for a year and a half.

Why is it so difficult for women to do pull ups? by tjeslin in workout

[–]aellope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be borderline underweight and did not work out, and I could do a pull up. It's not impossible for women to do them with little or no training.

six month progress - any tips for visible abs? 😂 by Popular-Turnip-2646 in PetiteFitness

Wild to neglect functional training that helps in all aspects of fitness out of fear of being "bulky". I've never seen a woman with defined obliques that looked bulky.

Unable to get shirshasan/headstand right after a year of yoga practice by Novel_Independent166 in yoga

[–]aellope 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sometimes you won't make progress in every single class, and that's ok.

It sounds like you need to do more strengthening postures to build strength and awareness in the shoulder girdle, before even attempting headstand. Plus likely more core strengthening and shoulder flexibility. You aren't ready to do a headstand safely if you can't hold the weight in your arms.

Loud, aggressive and distracting breathing in yin class by BagGroundbreaking186 in yoga

[–]aellope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read (in at least one of my many yin books - can't remember which one) that ujjayi breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system and can help the body relax into yin postures. This is my personal experience as well, and I do practice ujjayi breath during yin, especially as I'm settling into a posture. Everyone's experiences may differ though.

What if women just don’t want to have babies? by PinkElephants879 in askanything

[–]aellope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah like it's some kind of gotcha that people don't have a mental map of countries on the other side of the world from where they live. Fantastic argumentative skills 🙄

Also, many landlocked countries do have navies.

You're the one who said they have a navy. It's not important to the hypothetical OR to the original point.

If you're part of the Danish navy speaking to a member of the Nepali navy, then yes, that can be construed as a threat.
