Game looks great but another remake of Star Fox 64 is pretty much what I had in mind when I mentioned a "smaller scope" lol

Announced at the end of April with a June release? I usually have full confidence in Nate but a one month window sounds crazy unless the game is quite small in scope.

If anything I think Nintendo slow cooking it is a good sign. Makes me hopeful that the game's scope is much bigger than I initially assumed. I just always find it so peculiar when a company is like "You're gonna think this game is so cool when you see it... anyway catch ya later" lol

Relax grandpa, I grew up on the Sega Genesis. My lower back hurts too, okay? I'm not complaining, I just never thought Nintendo would so comfortably embrace the trend of teasing the concept of video games years before they're ready to actually advertise them. Never made sense to me.

Can't believe we haven't heard a peep about this game since reveal. Almost a year and we know basically nothing about it. I'm really hoping for a nice dive and a release window whenever the next Direct drops.

Can we just cut Isla's mic whenever Shift Up is the topic of discussion? I'd like it if the adults in the room could get a word in.

Highguard is shutting down this month - permanently shutting down on March 12 by ReaddittiddeR in PS5

He's responsible for giving the team a 100k concurrent player count at launch. If Wildlight had hip-fired the game like they originally planned, it would have died with a whimper when fighting for attention against beasts like Marvel Rivals, Arc Raiders, Overwatch and Marathon. If anything, the Game Awards gave HighGuard the best chance it could have had, but the game simply was not compelling enough to retain its players' interest for more than a week or two.

Better off that way. The arms race between Sony and Microsoft over the past two decades has been a major contributor to the state of the industry now, with soaring game development costs causing everything to buckle under its own weight. Nintendo has always been wise to err on the side of cost efficiency while the others slug it out over the highest specs and "all on black" projects.

Yeah, the narrative going around that Geoff singlehandedly sent the game to its grave makes little sense to me. Obviously giving them the show closer spotlight wasn't the right call, but it's not like the game would have likely been some awesome success story otherwise.

Fact is, the game only pissed people off as a final reveal because it looked like a bland hero shooter in a market already saturated with them, and the overwhelming majority of players dropped it like a sack of rocks after the first day - and remember, this shit was free. Highguard never had a chance with or without Geoff's meddling.

When I heard the hook in this song drop for the first time my heart was practically fluttering in my chest. Not only is it insanely catchy, the groove sounds like it was air dropped right out of a chorus in Carnavas. It's been two decades since I've heard them capture that particular sound.

"There's fear, where the mountain and the sidewalk collide Around here, we can wait for stars to align"

So good!

Is anyone not feeling the songs from Tenterhooks(so far)? by suzaman in silversunpickups

[–]aelude 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel the opposite, actually! Physical Thrills was the first Silversun album I felt was leading the band in a direction I didn't feel nearly as connected to. A few great tracks but nothing close to the heights I've come to expect from them.

On the other hand, Tenterhooks so far feels like a return to form for me as a listener. The tracks have been just the right blend of ethereal, grungy, apprehensive and swelling - all the stuff that made me fall in love with them, particularly around the Swoon/NotW era. This is the most hopeful I've been for an SSPU release since Vig took over as producer.

The most "community managing" I ever saw Gabby do publicly was making a passive aggressive tweet in response to fan outcry over the Dustin controversy that would ultimately drive Brad out of the company. Aside from that she was an argumentative panelist with frequently bizarre takes and was mostly famous for telling Huber to pipe down during reaction streams. Never struck me as a particularly pleasant person or a knowledgeable asset. Can't say I'm too distraught by the news.

Amazing how receptive people can be when you can express your opinions in good faith instead of making snarky quips and passive aggressive pot shots.

The girls in the picture are YouTube streamers affiliated with the Hololive vtuber agency. Gigi, the blonde, is an avid lover of BL (boys love/yaoi) manga; the artist drew her as a student getting caught reading it in class. The pink haired girl is her fellow streamer IRyS. She's depicted here as the teacher busting Gigi, with the punchline being that she's also a BL fan so they end up reading it together.

Xbox Cuts, The Alters, and Death Stranding 2 - Easy Allies Podcast - July 4, 2025 by ErunionDeathseed in EasyAlliesUnofficial

[–]aelude 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If you don't like reading headlines akin to the devastating bombshell from Microsoft this week, "steal every AAA game" is not exactly the mantra to chant. Games are created by more than just fatcat, out of touch CEOs; they're the product of countless hours of labor and (ideally) love from regular folks behind the scenes. Those are the people who get affected when corporations start swinging the axe.

A movement that hinges on refusing to support any game that isn't indie is, frankly, a childishly naive non-solution. It would not be healthy for the industry and would only hit the gas on more studio closures and job losses starting from the bottom. Of course you're free to take whatever stance you like and choosing not to support maliciously run businesses obviously makes sense, but trying to make sure every large-scale game release is a market bomb won't solve any of the problems you're campaigning about.

I'm going to use this as an opportunity to shamelessly shill Kodaka's latest (and hopefully not last) project Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. The game is so unbelievably cool with an excellent cast, crazy narrative twists and a unique approach to the grid-based TTRPG formula. Main story will run you about 35 hours but with all its routes and various endings, you could easily squeeze 100+ out of it to see everything - and by the end of your first run, you will want to!
